Great Vid! Loved the topic! Love the 7.3 thus far, no complaints. While we are talking about the 7.3 L, give some oil recommendations to use.

Glad you enjoyed it. I do wish ford would take my advice. Id be a buyer.
As for oil i do use motorcraft per fords recommendation. Motorcraft is good oil. I tend to use mobile one on older engines. Iv had good luck with it.
Fords cam/ lifter failure in the 7.3 platform isnt from oil brand/ quality or additives its from lack of oil pressure at idle. They have a variable volume pump which was done to decrease efficiency loss on the engine but why would you want to stave the engine for oil just to save fuel? I dont get that.
Anyway im nearing the milage people commonly have lifter failure and if it happens ill report it. I do try and keep idle time to a minimum and i do 5k oil changes.

@@greatlakespowerstrokefx4 I definitely will do 4-5K oil changes. But, would it hurt the warranty or anything If one, I change my own oil? Two, what If I used Amsoil Sig Series? Would that meet specification and requirements?
What is the mileage that you normally have lifter failure at!
Thanks for the information and the topics you provide.

@@michaelerickson3626 nope document your purchase of oil and when you change it, miles and date. So you can supply that to ford if you ever lost an engine. Check and make sure that oil meets fords spec. It probably does i think ams oil pays the money to submit their oil for all the ratings.
Personally im not a fan of ams oil. So not saying its worse but im just not bought into the hype.
Clean oil changed at the right time is going to do everything the engine needs, from any brand that meets the weight and spec requirement. Including costco and amazon basics. If your truck doesnt have the correct calibration (dealer searches your vin to see if you have the calibration that drops oil pressure at idle) your engine doesnt have an oiling issue and likely will be extremely reliable.

    Mustang, Mustang, Mustang
None of this is ever going to happen, but thanks for asking.
I hate to admit it, but I'd be willing to go close to 100k for a new Excursion, with a 15k+ tow capacity. What can I say, I want to take a trailer, and the whole family with me.

@@johnallen8248 a mustang would be so much fun with a 7.3. But as ford excursion id like one just like my f350. Stx trim 7.3.
I think its crazy for ford to up with such a brilliant engine, that the aftermarket has shown is killer in car swaps and not put it in a car

@@AllAmericanAutomotive that would be insanely cool or a ford racing version. We know ford performance knows how to make aluminum blocks

This company called chevrolet took the 7.3, made it 7.0L, called it the LS7 and it made the power numners youre talking about lol.
Actually though, it is amazing how similar the LS is to the Godzilla platform. Im a big fan of both really.

Ecoboost has more torque for the size. Fuel economy comes down to drag coefficient and gear ratio.
