    Thank you for giving this dynamic music life rather than allowing it to remain in the obscurity of nonperformance, Bravo! Bravo!

    Fellow Schubert scholar here. I've spent a great deal of my career/life examining the unfinished works of Schubert, so I am much appreciative of this effort to allow all of us a chance to hear more and more Schubert!!! I ignore the naysayers who just want to have their opinions out there. The fragments allow us to see into the workshop of his thinking to appreciate the other works he did finish.

      Yes, I'm as interested in Schubert's unfinished oeuvre.
      Perhaps you might feel like having a look at the sonata "No. 3 1/2" uploaded on this channel which includes my completion of the Adagio D. 349. I don't have information of anyone else's completion of the piece.

      @@sergeypiano I don't believe so. I know there is a performing version of the D. 840 though. I don't have it right in my hands, but I've listened to it several times. That is still one of my favorite sonatas of his.

    I am currently learning this piece and I love it! I am really surprised that it is barely unknown...
    By the way, the piece played in the video is the version completed by Robert Levin. Schuberts version ends at 9:00

      You're quite correct!
      Indeed it's amazing how such gems go unnoticed by the general public.

    Shared. We have a 21st piano sonata by one of the greatest composers in history who never saw his 32nd year. Best

    Un coup de mou ? Le cafard ? Une déprime ? Tristesse ? Fatigue ? Un petit coup de Kuznetsov et toutes ces mauvaises choses s'effacent comme par magie. C'est ma thérapie. Merci, Merci, Merci pour cette vision roborative de Schubert.

    Здравствуйте Сергей, прежде всего хочу сказать, что мне очень нравится ваш Шуберт. У меня один вопрос, где мне найти (ноты) фортепианные пьесы Шуберта, Op: 916. ?

    • @sergeypiano
      @sergeypiano  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Спасибо! Я использовал издание этих пьес с завершениями Роберта Левина, выпущенное издательством Universal Edition в серии Wiener Urtext. Существует ещё минимум одно издание без завершений, но там надо придумать самому, как завершать пьесы. Кажется, я купил ноты через интернет, в Германии. Например, их можно купить здесь: www.ebay.de/itm/Drei-Klavierstucke-D-946-Zwei-Fragmente-D-916B-C-Franz-Schubert-/284087869538

      Sergey Kuznetsov We greatly enjoy your performances. The videography and sound are superb. It takes a lot of work to achieve this level of artistry. If I may be so bold, who was your teacher?

    • @sergeypiano

      Sergey Kuznetsov Thank you for replying. You have risen to the top. I appreciate the time and efforts that it has taken; though, for me, the U.S. military draft in the 70s destroyed my professional dreams of mastery of the 88. Now I just wallow away on an old Kurzweil, toying with improvised jazz and the occasional Chopin or Shostakovich.
      Peace, Health and Cheers!

    Great playing but I find it hard to believe that this is Schubert - too trite and without his haunting modulations.

    • @sergeypiano
      @sergeypiano  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. Hmm. To me it sounds as much Schubert as it gets. With enough modulation and interesting harmonic changes. The episode starting from 02:48 is as stunning to me as the middle of D. 946/3.

    ,,,added to which there is no sign of this work in my Deutsch catalogue and having heard it through now it's and appalingly banal piece of kitsch.

      You might consider updating your sources.
      The pieces 916b and 916c were discovered in the spring of 1977 and have been studied and mentioned in the literature extensively. My edition of Deutsch catalogue of 1978 has the pieces on page 580.
      In addition, the pieces have been recorded by different pianists within the last 42 years, including Jörg Demus for example.
