One of my favorite fisherman! I used to wake up Saturday morning in mid-late '90s to watch Bill Dance, Roland Martin and Jimmy Houston Slay bigguns....Legends🙏🎣
Bill Dance is the uncle I never had who would come to visit every Saturday morning as I was growing up. I learned so many life lessons that extend far beyond just fishing. Thanks for that, Uncle Bill. Ted Marshall Sanford, FL
I remember my first bass that I caught when I was 10 in 1974. My uncle owned land in north Georgia and had a pond. I went up there with him one weekend and I caught a pound and a half bass on a black and yellow quarter ounce Bush Hog spinner bait. I still have that lure only now it hangs on my fishing rod rack as a memento.
Darn it! 2nd! Luv ya bill! & yes, the Jitterbug is my go to lure for topwater for 4 decades now! Properly bending the bill helps to get a better "gurgle!"
I've only caught a couple huge freshwater game fish in my 45 years. When I was about 13-14 YO, I used a jitterbug across a weed bed and hooked a 4' northern. Biggest of my life. I even walked it backed to our camper holding it by the gill plate after someone showed me how. I had no idea how to hold it and was amazed by the teeth. I'll never forget that day. This was at a small campground in northern IL (Fish Lake Beach)
I fish a 5/8oz. Jitterbug probably 99% of the time when I'm fishing at night. Here in Indiana. I also will fish a heddon meadow mouse. Those are 2 great baits to fish.
Glad you made this bill. I'm from mulberry tn. and my wife and I have a camper spot at Goose Pond in scottsboro al. Last Saturday I caught alot of bass late at night on a scum frog but this weekend the moon isn't full and lots of clouds. So I stopped at the gas station amd picked up a black letter bug. Hopefully tonight I can catch a few good ones.
Jitterbug works great still. Last Wed dark'o'thirty A.M., high tide landed 5 black bass smallies, spotted. 1 Pike. 13 Striped bass to 22 inches . One 19 inch spotted bass with another bass fighting it for the bug not more than 6ft from shore, landed the spotted, tossed the lure out about 10ft retrieved it 5ft or so and then realized it wasn't another bass, it was a Chinook Salmon. I stopped the lure, salmon stared at it for 1/2 a sec, twitched it, bam, 3 barbs of rear hook in its mouth and landed it. Fist time ever getting a Chinook Salmon on a top water lure for me.
The man, the myth, the legend. Feel like I'm 12 years old again every time I watch a Bill Dance video.
Bill Dance is a national treasure!! Much love and respect sir!!
