I remember meeting you at Midway Lake. I was 10. Then I met you again at Horseshoe Lake. I was 17 and prefishing for a tournament. You gave me some advice, a few spinner baits and wished me luck. Finished 3rd and caught the biggest bass of the tournament. 7lbs 6oz. You're definitely my childhood hero!!
Same here. Used to get up at the crack of Dawn to watch him in the early 90's when I was in my early 20's. I'll never forget that opening melody. Fond memories.
Bill, great episode, and man, what a throw-back too! I remember the first time that I was introduced to a buzz bait when I was a kid by one of your older episodes; I'd say I was about 9 or 10 years old. My mom took my sisters and I to the movie rental store down the road and I picked out that buzz bait episode on VHS to take home and watch (I ended up watching it about twenty times over the weekend). When I came up with another $10.00 from allowance, I asked my mom to take me to Walmart where I bought two buzz baits. Unfortunately, I didn't ever catch anything on them and set them back in my tackle box to pick up a couple of years later. Well, the day came that I felt that I was kind of "cursed" with some types of baits, with one being buzz baits. So I pulled it back out (again, a couple of years later) to try and to hopefully break that "curse." And man, did I ever break it. I had one of the most awesome top water blow ups that I have ever had on it! I'll never forget it! Soon after, I realized that my lack of results earlier on were due to my inability to fish the bait correctly, on top of my lack of knowledge towards matching the right sized bait with the right rod and reel. Even after watching your video multiple times, as an inexperienced 10 year old (or less) child, I just wasn't patient enough or intelligent enough to follow directions, figure the action out, and fish it correctly. But after continuing to watch you and your show for those couple of years following my failed buzz bait attempts, you taught me three key things: Patience, focus, and precision. I was able to finally apply those three ideas to the buzz bait in real-time and finally get results. But on top of that Bill, you know what else it did? That patience, focus, and precision transferred to every other aspect of my life, and you taught me how to apply it to all of those other aspects of my life, allowing me to progress and help become the man that I am supposed to be - the man that I am today. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for that Mr. Dance. You will always be my favorite fisherman and the buzz bait is now one of my favorite lures.
Don't know if you check comments on old videos, but the remark you made about your Grandfather telling you to be quiet, brought back memories of my Grandfather telling me the same. I was blessed to be able to fish with him till 27 yrs.,wish he was still here, the learning turned competitive as the time slipped by. Learned much from both of you, thanks. Catch one for our Grandfathers, see ya
Roland Martin, Bill Dance, Jimmy Houston and Hank Parker Legendary!!...I'm 37 and I've been watching yall my entire life and I thank yall for the advice on Bass Fishing....me and my brother been using yall techniques on bass fishing our entire lives We Thank U and the rest of the legends we molded our bass anglering skills from💪🏾💯🎣❤
I listened to this man for a very long time,& learned a lot,at one classic in New Orleans we even compared bass belt buckles with none other than Mr. Ray Scott himself,me & my family had a awesome time 😀🎣
I’d love to go fishing with Bill. I grew up watching him on Saturday mornings and those were some of the best times with dad, other than when we were fishing ourselves.
i remember the first time i saw your video on buzzbaits. i was in my early teens and i started using them they are a blast they are one of my most favorite baits still thanks for all the info and videos. the first bill dance program i saw was in the 70's and i've been hooked on watching bill dance ever since YOU ARE THE MAN
I love catching bass on a buzz bait. Great video Mr. Dance. I also love the theme song and my daughter knows who you are now. I told her they should teach about you in school.
Great Episode Bill! I haven't use a buzzbait this year but I think I'll go and break me one out! Keep on doing your thing man! You're the reason I started fishing when I was a kid!
Well that's a good beginning of a fishing video I'm eating a bowl of spaghetti for my lunch and bill pulls a tape worm from the Bass butt Awesome let's just say I stop eating after I saw that lol!🤢😂
I almost forgot about Buzzbaits until last year when I starting seeing what it can do. The ones that have a clacker below the blade seem to get the big ones mad more often than not!
Bill dance is the world's best 🤎old school fishing 🎣 men ever I have been watching him fish ever since I was a little boy watching fishing tapes with my grandfather as a boy 👦
Hey Bill. Had a quick question l. What do you suggest do about excitement? I’m usually a pretty calm fisherman with most lures with the exception of a buzz bait. I always do exactly what you say in the video. I’ll get too excited and not set my hook, or I’ll set it to early. Anything to help with that?
lmao bill dance is getting old when he starts breathing hard on a bass like he cought first lmao i am jokoing i have been watching bill dance from the time i was big enuff to catch a fish there is no other out ther that will help you learn to fish better then bill dance
Video quality itself is great, but really concerning seeing the way you hold the bass. Holding them horizontally like that without supporting the rear half of the fish's weight in most cases will injure the fish's jaw and make them unable to feed, leading to death. I'm not trying to be some know it all, I'm simply saying this because as many years as you have been fishing I guarantee tons of bass have perished due to this problem. Would like to see someone with your influence correct this and teach others not to do this in the future!!

I’ve caught blue catfish on buzz baits! I never would have thought!
You always have good videos through
My favorite lure in summer.
I agree, don’t catch lots of fish with a buzz but the ones 1 do are nice quality bass. And it’s just fun seeing them chase 1 down and destroy it.
Great video. Enjoy top water bait fishing. FLC
