Beautiful piece Luie. I all have never worked with teak. I have been using 1/4 inch purple heart to create an insert for my bottoms. Contrasted with black cherry, it looks pretty nice.

Ohh Dogies and Kitties! That is one beautiful bowl The Teak is amazing. I have some pieces my nephew gave me when he worked at a cabinet shop well over 30 years ago. Now I think it is time to make some segments out of them. But I am not sure the wood will be as pretty as you have.
So the first Teak I turned came off an old ship. My brother in law worked at a place on the Willamette River called Zidells. They scraped the ships and this stuff was where they tied the ropes to.
Nasty looking piece but very nice on the inside. That was many moons ago but still have some turnings hanging on both sides of the fireplace. Candel scounces.
Any way that beautiful bowl you just turned brought back some memories.
    Great job my friend,
    Gary

      Gary,
That is so cool when the wood has a story behind it. Makes the piece so much more interesting. Sometimes the story is better than the piece 👍😎

The piece of Cedar is still in the box and every day I hear a muffled voice saying "Let Me Out" so keep an eye out for the 18th of May. It has taken me ages to work out what to do with it but I now know what I want to turn.
