We have had our place up north for 33 years, and we also have had to use our ingenuity when we don't have exactly what we need to fit the job.@@living_north
I always try to keep safety in mind when I'm at the cabin doing things. Most of the time I'm there by myself too so that makes even more important. Thanks for the reminder. Glad you liked the video.
A lot of cabin owners work to shut down the place for winter. We work at things to get it ready for use in the winter. I'm glad we can get to it in the winter and enjoy that season as well. Thanks for watching.
It often doesn't feel like work at the cabin. Things need to be done, so you do it. That makes life more enjoyable when time is spent at the cabin, especially in the winter. Happy to have you come along!
New subscriber. I really enjoy your videos and looking forward to seeing more. It’s a very beautiful cabin you had built and plain peaceful and adorable. Thank you for sharing and God Bless. From OHIO❤
Hi George from Holland...nice work....i live in my gipsy wagon as a tiny house me 75... Making everything ready fit summer and then ready fit winter. Making firewood doing in August.. Nice to are you doing your things🎉
Well George you made that look easy cleaning the gutters and down spouts my cabin has a metal roof and a long gutter along the front and along the side for the two water tanks about 500 gallons in all it’s the only water unless you can go to the trout creek at the bottom of the mountain I look forward to seeing more of your videos George thanks Eric !!
The pine needles are what plugs things up in the fall. I only have a short section over the back porch so usually doesn't take long to clean later in the fall. Nice you can get enough water to store in your catch system. Sure saves on hauling jugs of water. Thanks for watching.
I've been to Maine once and it is very similar to here in northern MN. With no snow this winter, it has been much easier to get to the cabin and much less work since no snow blowing required. The bad part of that is the potential fire danger if we don't get good rain this spring. Always something to keep life interesting at the cabin. Glad you like the videos.
Get some dryed bay leaves and put them around your cabin rats and mice hate them and there cheap too buddy and I like your cabin I own an off grid cabin up in the north G.A. Mountains I absolutely love it that’s where I’m gonna go when I retire in a few years at 62 lol I hope I’m as fit as you buddy lol !!
I got up early to watch with a cup of coffee before work. I saw you post as I went to bed. It looks like it must be public land around the lake for the most part? Thanks for having us along George.
Yes a lot of the land is public. I get to use it but don't have to pay taxes for that. Coffee and TH-cam in the morning is my routine too. Happy to have you along!
Using fabric softener sheets will keep the mice away!! They don’t like the smell. I used it in my trailer and it did work. Just thought I would share that with you❤
I've considered something like that. Maybe if I could drive a sand point in at the level of the lake below the cabin a hand pump might work. To drill a well would be expensive based on how deep others have had to go to get water. Always something to consider in the future. Thanks Scott.
I have done that before but didn't think it would get so cold before I got back to the cabin so it froze. That works great and I don't worry as much with the dogs because it isn't toxic like the regular stuff. Thanks for watching.
Sometimes video we shoot gets set aside and then when my son has time he finds those clips and gets them up. Not always in sequence but still enjoy showing life at the cabin. Thanks for watching.
We are in NE Minnesota. I'm sure some things are similar to the area you are in. I hope we get some good spring rain so all our places won't burn down in fires with little or no snow this winter. Always challenges when you have places in the woods. Enjoy your time at the cabin!
Nothing like a weekend at the cabin thanks again for sharing your videos
Thank you. We enjoy sharing our time in the woods and the cabin life with our viewers. Always fun to have you along. Glad you like the video.
I admire your ingenious hacks when taking care of things up there, George. Oh, and the dogs are the icing on the cake!
Thank you. Always fun to figure out how to make things easier or more comfortable when we use the cabin. The dogs enjoy it too!! Thanks for watching.

Be careful when on your ladder, sweetie. Don't want you to fall. Love the video!!!!!

It always feels good to get the simple must needed fall projects done for the winter 👍🏻🇺🇲

Nice fall video, beautiful cabin!
Thanks. 35 years of hard work and fun from building it too now. Time sure flies. Glad you liked the video.
I don't have a cabin, but thanks for sharing yours!
Just a "good feeling" being there even if you're working, I bet.

Geert Wilders is a person to watch, he may just have the right model to keep a country's history and customs intact.
I was thinking to myself that you needed a giant pipe cleaner for that gutter, when out slides the board! You were one step ahead of me! 😂
Always looking for easier ways to get things done, sometimes as simple as a stick! Glad you liked the video.
I look forward to all of your project videos
Thanks Scott. More to come as I identify more things that need to be done at the cabin. I don't want to just sit and enjoy the view when I'm up there!
Great job it’s always nice to get the little things done. Great video my friend.
Thank you. Always things to do on every trip to the cabin but it never seems like work1 Glad you liked the video.

Very enjoyable video George.
Thanks Robert. These chores are the sure sign of season changes and necessary so we can enjoy winter at the cabin. Glad you liked the video.
Love the videos George. I can’t wait to get back up to my camp in Maine. Seems very similar to Minnesota.

Must help the deer heard as well. What are they doing for the wolf problem up there?

@@living_north lots of public land herr in Michigan also. It's a great thing.
Nice Video George.
Thanks Steve. More coming as Steven is catching up on some material we shot earlier. Glad you liked the video.

I use them in the tent camper when I close it for the winter. That works well. Thanks for watching.
Hey George 👋
Good morning. Glad to see you enjoying another of our videos.
Have you ever thought about putting in a hand pump well tjeres a jet pump system that you can hook up and run a garden hose
I've considered something like that. Maybe if I could drive a sand point in at the level of the lake below the cabin a hand pump might work. To drill a well would be expensive based on how deep others have had to go to get water. Always something to consider in the future. Thanks Scott.
Use r v anti freeze in your mouse bucket
I have done that before but didn't think it would get so cold before I got back to the cabin so it froze. That works great and I don't worry as much with the dogs because it isn't toxic like the regular stuff. Thanks for watching.
Its March. Why so behind?
Sometimes video we shoot gets set aside and then when my son has time he finds those clips and gets them up. Not always in sequence but still enjoy showing life at the cabin. Thanks for watching.
Cabin time is always relaxing. Where is yours located? I have a small off grid cabin i built in northern Wisconsin.
We are in NE Minnesota. I'm sure some things are similar to the area you are in. I hope we get some good spring rain so all our places won't burn down in fires with little or no snow this winter. Always challenges when you have places in the woods. Enjoy your time at the cabin!
@@living_north Thanks. Yes it is very dry and we do need rain!
