When we had our engine issues the engineer advised that our coolant in our expansion bottle need only be enough to show that there is coolant present but the level in the engine itself needs to be at the top; if that makes sense? For you there seems to be no question. You are suited to narrowboat life. You keep fit, get to view all the wildlife... Of course, there are advantages to living in a house but they are outweighed by those of living on a boat. I say - carry on doing so as long as you can!

I believe that you can do whatever you set your mind to if you want it badly enough. There are so many friendly boaters to help you if you need anything too. This week, I couldn't get the gas valve to shift when I was changing my gas and it was taking me ages; then a dog walker went past the boat and I asked them if they could help me- they were so happy to help and they managed to loosen it too which was great. The one word that comes to mind the most is "peaceful". My observations from watching your video and others is, It is a slower life, but ironically a more active one. It's good for you physically, mentally, emotionally, and even perhaps spiritually. Engaging nature like you do is part of why it's so healthy. Cities use technology and industry to push nature away and keep it at a distance, while your lifestyle embraces nature and lives with it. It's pretty wonderful really, when you think about it, that in today's world it's possible to live life this way. What a blessing it is that you share this with us, and in such a beautiful and engaging way!

Ah, so peaceful - even the bumps seem serene 😊. Lovely to see your garden bring revived. Time for me to go photograph the three sisters who keep us fed: corn 🌽, beans 🫘 and squash (or marrow). This year they are planted in our decorative planters. A new thing: food, not flowers
Three Billy Goats Gruff - ha, ha. When I was younger I lived closer to the town. Loved the arts and entertainment. But, always enjoyed my backyard birds. I've moved further away now. Love all the nature and peace. But surely you will always find nature and peace wherever you live.

Good evening ! My only experience of living on a boat has been Norfolk Broads holidays with friends early 1960s ! I loved it despite a few mishaps ! Toilet 'arrangements' then were everything got pumped manually straight out into the waters ! Not very nice but thats how was it was ! I too have been searching for Cinnabar Moth larvae & now they are showing in good numbers ! Slowly bees & other insects are showing but nothing like in should be numbers ! Lime trees with their tiny flowers were wonderful as usual & I usually hear the multitude of bees upon them yards before I reach ! Hardly a bee to be seen! Only other boating apart from canoes in Greenwich park as a kid were rowing a Skiff on The Serpentine, early 60s in London, hardly counts but I loved doing something I was good at! Yes the pace is very different. When we lived on our boat, we were so shocked by car speeds when we ventured onto a road. Even at 30 mph! Once we lived in a house I was entranced by being able to switch lights on and run the washing machine, at the same time 🤣🤣🤣

So nice to see your back. You know, I believe there's a right moment for everything. Being in the right place at the right moment is actually everything. Changes will always come. The nicest thing here is you have a choice, to live the narrow boat life, or sell everything and be in a home. There's always pros and cons in whatever you may decide. The important thing is to be happy...😊 I on the other hand have an entirely different situation. I was in California with a wonderful job, a partner, and friends, a whole life... 5 years ago I was on the phone with my parents which live on the outskirts of Madrid and I for the first time in ages felt how alone they felt, and that they actually needed help in various ways. They are at that age where they now need tending to. It all surprised me, caught me off guard! I could not sleep at night thinking how alone they felt! Just daily chores, and grocery shopping, house cleaning, and doctors appointments with both not being able to drive themselves anywhere anymore! My heart sunk, and tears came to my eyes knowing that within a week of that phone call I would have to leave absolutely everything in California so I could be with them to help out with all the necessary things. Knowing that I would have to sacrifice everything I Know, everything I have, and leaving my partner as well. But She understood that our lives were about to change completely. It was so difficult !! I wished her all the happiness, and that I had to do this for my parents as they've done so much for me... Well, it's been 5 years now, they thank me every day although they know what I have sacrificed in order to be there for them. Such is life. Every now and then I go sight seeing with my motorcycle to see the nice things in Spain. But yeah, been a lone wolf 🐺 all this time, I don't go out, and have no friends out here... But I believe that in life things happen for a reason, I'm sure to find myself again when they've passed on... For now, I'm happy I can be there for them.. So sorry, I digress oops!😊

I can understand about sleeping better on a boat. After many years of long distance trucking across north America i would park my rig at the far upwind end of the truckstop open the windows of a large sleeper bunk. Fresh air and the wind would rock the sleeper and slept like a big baby. I think that's the part i miss the most about trucking. And the geography also. I really loved longhaul trucking for those reasons. Never the same load and never the same destination. You kind of remind me of all that. The roads were my canals. Love your videos. 👌🇨🇦 👍

If I had the money I'd like to own a Narrow Boat and a House. Preferably with a little Pier on the back yard leading to my Boat in the Canal at the bottom of the Garden. Yes ! I don't ask for much. I'm too old to change my ways and I might want to live alone if I were to live on a Narrow Boat which may not go down too well with certain people. I understand your thoughts... I live full time in a caravan (RV) in America. During my travels I often wonder if I should continue or live in a proper house, and then travel part-time. I believe that you can do whatever you set your mind to if you want it badly enough. There are so many friendly boaters to help you if you need anything too. This week, I couldn't get the gas valve to shift when I was changing my gas and it was taking me ages; then a dog walker went past the boat and I asked them if they could help me- they were so happy to help and they managed to loosen it too which was great. The one word that comes to mind the most is "peaceful". My observations from watching your video and others is, It is a slower life, but ironically a more active one. It's good for you physically, mentally, emotionally, and even perhaps spiritually. Engaging nature like you do is part of why it's so healthy. Cities use technology and industry to push nature away and keep it at a distance, while your lifestyle embraces nature and lives with it. It's pretty wonderful really, when you think about it, that in today's world it's possible to live life this way. What a blessing it is that you share this with us, and in such a beautiful and engaging way!

Good evening ! My only experience of living on a boat has been Norfolk Broads holidays with friends early 1960s ! I loved it despite a few mishaps ! Toilet 'arrangements' then were everything got pumped manually straight out into the waters ! Not very nice but thats how was it was ! I too have been searching for Cinnabar Moth larvae & now they are showing in good numbers ! Slowly bees & other insects are showing but nothing like in should be numbers ! Lime trees with their tiny flowers were wonderful as usual & I usually hear the multitude of bees upon them yards before I reach ! Hardly a bee to be seen! Only other boating apart from canoes in Greenwich park as a kid were rowing a Skiff on The Serpentine, early 60s in London, hardly counts but I loved doing something I was good at! Yes the pace is very different. When we lived on our boat, we were so shocked by car speeds when we ventured onto a road. Even at 30 mph! Once we lived in a house I was entranced by being able to switch lights on and run the washing machine, at the same time 🤣🤣🤣

So nice to see your back. You know, I believe there's a right moment for everything. Being in the right place at the right moment is actually everything. Changes will always come. The nicest thing here is you have a choice, to live the narrow boat life, or sell everything and be in a home. There's always pros and cons in whatever you may decide. The important thing is to be happy...😊
I on the other hand have an entirely different situation. I was in California with a wonderful job, a partner, and friends, a whole life...
5 years ago I was on the phone with my parents which live on the outskirts of Madrid and I for the first time in ages felt how alone they felt, and that they actually needed help in various ways. They are at that age where they now need tending to. It all surprised me, caught me off guard! I could not sleep at night thinking how alone they felt! Just daily chores, and grocery shopping, house cleaning, and doctors appointments with both not being able to drive themselves anywhere anymore! My heart sunk, and tears came to my eyes knowing that within a week of that phone call I would have to leave absolutely everything in California so I could be with them to help out with all the necessary things. Knowing that I would have to sacrifice everything I Know, everything I have, and leaving my partner as well. But She understood that our lives were about to change completely. It was so difficult !! I wished her all the happiness, and that I had to do this for my parents as they've done so much for me...
Well, it's been 5 years now, they thank me every day although they know what I have sacrificed in order to be there for them. Such is life. Every now and then I go sight seeing with my motorcycle to see the nice things in Spain. But yeah, been a lone wolf 🐺 all this time, I don't go out, and have no friends out here...
But I believe that in life things happen for a reason, I'm sure to find myself again when they've passed on...
For now, I'm happy I can be there for them..
So sorry, I digress oops!😊

I can understand about sleeping better on a boat. After many years of long distance trucking across north America i would park my rig at the far upwind end of the truckstop open the windows of a large sleeper bunk. Fresh air and the wind would rock the sleeper and slept like a big baby. I think that's the part i miss the most about trucking. And the geography also. I really loved longhaul trucking for those reasons. Never the same load and never the same destination. You kind of remind me of all that. The roads were my canals. Love your videos. 👌🇨🇦 👍

It must be wonderful to be back home aboard your narrow boat, with nature just outside your porthole window, birds singing, and the easy-going pace and joy of cruising the waterways once again. I understand your thoughts... I live full time in a caravan (RV) in America. During my travels I often wonder if I should continue or live in a proper house, and then travel part-time. Plus we’re heading south down the Shroppie now making for home waters on the B’ham to Worcs canal. I still got all excited just seeing Alice Grace. Thank you for keeping me entertained. Love your videos but have to say the most amazing thing is that where I live in the States, the temperature today was in the mid 90's F.... and you're running around in a down filled hooded jacket! So glad your heart still belongs to the narrowboating life!
