    Great review Mr. Cheese.
    I have built the old Thunderhawk (still doing it) and it can only be described, in my view, as a pig of a challenge..........and I am being kind.
    I also purchased the new kit when it launched and it is like comparing the abacus to a calculator.

      Paul Murray Thanks mate!
      I agree on your assessment of the old Thunderhawk kit... it is hard work for sure. My mate's example was bought in 2015 towards the end of the sales run in and it needs lots of clean up work and then even more to restore the flush rivet detailing.
      That said, I really like the original model design and *once* built it looks fantastic and has is quite iconic.

    I'd be terrified to work on such a massive lad. Despite the amazing design I can't help to think that all pieces should be perfect given the price.
    That said, I'm really interested in the way you rebuild rivets! You have the technology, you can rebuild them! And I want to see that!

      Marneus I have an idea around little balls of green stuff sliced in two ;)
      All said and done the casting isn't too bad on this example. It's all cleaned up and ready to assemble now and hopefully I'll make a start this weekend.

    Awesome project mate😎 i see many respond "should not be moldslip and stuff like that", Forgeworld replace parts that cant be fixed( and fixing is a part of resinmodells), but to find a solution can be a pain in the butt sometimes 😵 always lovely to see you building great machines buddy😊

      MrTrilbe They are rare but more than 10 exist. GW gave them out as Xmas presents (IIRC) to staff for several years and then sold them via mail order for a while as well. A mate used to own one but sold it 10 years ago.... one day I hope to get hold of one. I imagine it would be an absolutely insane modelling project!

    I always thought of this one as the MkIII. The MkI being the metal version.
    The metal one wasnt as common as these are but only because they were more expensive then than they are now. (the price might have been the same but money was more valuable then than it is now for the same amount)
    I thought you had already done a Thunderhawk review. Not quite sure why youre doing another.

  • @tiberiuskirk2593

    For the price this should be a plastic kit. A colored plastic plastic kit with multiple options, transfers, and built-in gimmicks. For the price of a Thunderhawk in Canadian I could get 3-4Master Grade Gunpla model kits that fit that level of quality and not have to work with badly cast resin blocks and mold slips. It really is no wonder why Chinese re-casters are so prevalent. Forge World is just robbery when you compare the price you pay for the quality you get.

    • @leakycheese
      @leakycheese  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's an apples and pears comparison Mr. Kirk. You need to find a company who makes similar sized resin kits to this as injection moulded plastic is a completely different ball game.
      As to Forge World's recently adopted international pricing... well you know my thoughts on that ;)

    Hi. Do you also have those 2-3mm gaps in the place, where wings attach to the hull? Asked FW, they told me it's ok. Also several guys from instagram had the same issue. It basically feels as if the wings have a bit smaller scale compared to the hull. Here's a photo pp.userapi.com/c846521/v846521849/f9da1/X-EPp0RPzgI.jpg
    p.s After some plastic putty you cant's see it on the assembled model though.

    @leakycheese, hi love your channel, I'm interested in moving to work on resin models, I've some limited experience, but I'm looking for a good challenging starter kit. Could you recommend a kit? doesn't have to games work shop/forgeworld, but I love all the 40k/HH stuff. Thanks Paul

    • @leakycheese
      @leakycheese  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Paul, I appreciate the kind words 😊
      I guess it depends on if you want to do a tank or walker? For the latter I’d recommend one of the excellent Contemptor dreadnought kits which are a lot of fun to build and very pose-able. Vehicles are tricker to pick as they are more difficult to assemble in my experience.
      One of my favourite FW vehicles to build is the Karacnos Assault Tank for the Mechanicum. It’s a fantastic vehicle but also a well designed kit from the assembly viewpoint. I did a video talking about this here: th-cam.com/video/9OVxlQ4hOOE/w-d-xo.html
      If you want a very straightforward resin starter kit then the Pallas Grav Attack from the Custodian range is a good choice. SuperSaiyen did a video, review on that one. Hope that helps!
