hey devin, there’s another way to turn off traction control. That shit will let you burn the tires to the rim and actually keep vsa and traction off. 1. Turn car to on position 2. Parking brake off 3. Press and hold brake pedal 4. Turn traction control on and off 5. Parking brake on 6. Release brake pedal 7. Turn traction control on and off 8. Press and hold brake pedal 9. Turn traction control on and off

Oh man I cannot wait for this build!! A lot of the automotive YT guys over in the UK that I follow have done AWD Honda builds in older Hondas but never a modern one like the FK8. They usually use the AWD systems from the Honda CRV’s or HRV,s in theirs. Can’t wait to see what Devin does!! This is gonna be awesome!!👌🏽🔥🔥🔥🔥
To get off stuck wheels up here in the rust belt you take a 2x4 with a towel and hit it with a sledge on the outer rim of the wheel. No wheel damage and pops right off 💪

So I could be wrong but I believe the Civic shares the same platform with the HR-V and the HR-V comes in AWD. There might be cut out holes in the body for rear subframe.
I use those paint markers to stock car parts all day, little gas on a rag or some ipa will wipe it off, make everything look clean not marked up on the stuff your gonna reuse

First thing that comes to mind is finding a away to mate a sti trans to the Honda block then using the rest of the drive train . I know it's been done with other Honda motors using a special plate to mate the trans and block.

It’s “CAN Bus”, like a bus you ride in. With that said, definitely a good time to get help from Tanner/smeedia for all of the custom can communications and harness work.
I honestly wish you luck, but based upon the sub frame design, you will need a completely custom sub frame and a custom steering rack in order to run all wheel drive. That’s the primary reason No one has done it at this point due to the chassis design. You will not be able to run an exhaust down the back either and a drive shaft will require special custom tunnel work. Unless you raise the car up. I totally understand the challenges behind this and I wish you the best and this is not a negative comment.
I really cant believe no one has done this yet.. Its hilarious cuz when I got my Fk8 in 2019, I mentioned it in the Honda forums and got flamed for days about it... Makes no sense.. It seems like a pretty straight forward swap and you can get rid of that crap k20c1 motor(its not crap but it is limited with its direct injection).. I have actually talked with a couple shops about it, and most of them told me other than getting the mounting and axles worked out, the hardest thing would be engine management and wiring. Old K's are incredibly similar in size and position. Making the Fk8 available to the old K series aftermarket is a game changer.
Don’t they make an awd version of that engine in the crvs? They I just looked it up you should to use the housing for the curb and rear subframes and see if it’ll work with the stock engine.

It sucks he’s ruining a og Type r. Back then we had folks mess up the old Integra type r’s, reason we have crappy ones with nothing original. This dude is doing the same rice shit folks were doing 20+ years 😂 Sad day .. could have done it in a regular civic if he wasn’t utilizing the og k20c1

I can't wait to see how an AWD system would fit in this chassis, so excited. You can probably sell the engine to Dustin Williams he blew his FK8 at the tack and is looking for a motor. I would try and keep the front suspension as much as possible Honda did alot of engineering on the front suspension to get that near 0 scrub radius.

There is a member on the CivicX forum with the name awdfk8machinist who is making adapter plates and working on adapting the stock motor and trans to an AWD set up for the FK8. Sounds like you're likely gonna be going older k series in this case but i figured I'd mention it

When Hasport first took the k20c1 out of their Type R they did say there seemed to be a tunnel to fit an awd drive shaft.

With the seatbelt on the car will auto disengage the parking brake when you try to move in fist. Seatbelt off the parking brake will stay engaged.

Hondas changes were for a FWD car, that all goes out the window now. He’s gonna have to find someone who can do his chassis tuning.
