This is the first YT video I have seen that clearly describes the tendency of the prevailing wind in the presence of thermals.. WELL DONE. I spend a lot of time standing with a DLG in my hand thinking about the air motion around me.
Probably the best video of how to chase a thermal.. Thank you. I remember all those years ago my instructor kicking me in the rear end with " Keep upwind dummy " but that was without powered models.
Hej Speedster you know your place perfectly. Like an other thermal glider pilot you have to read the wind. But your description helps a lot to anticipate what happens next. I will try this in spring at my favorite place to be - Pfersdorf in Frankonia.
I'm going to get my first rc sailplane soon (not sure which one, but motorized), and wondered how you find thermals. This was a great lesson & demonstration! Thank you so much!! Clear skies!!
I only just finished my first RC glider build, a wooden DLG. Surprisingly I got it to be exactly 300 grams. First few flights, I was setting up the controls and a launch mode. After a while, I've been getting use to watching which wing dips and which one raises. There'd be moments I'd chuck it up, start circling and realize I should've landed already. What a joy! I got the wooden DLG to test my ability to set up a composite performance model later on. It also gave me something to do for the winter.
Your videos are great, with sharp focus and planes staying onscreen. Can you please tell me your secret? What camera, lens, and method do you use to get these great shots?
In the days before technical assistance, I just followed the birds riding the thermals, or get above dark areas where the heat rises. stayed up until I was tired of flying.
Just caught by chance this video channel really informative and also current up to recent issue so this is great. I like it in English as well nice of you to consider us. Have also seen you really slow up the model in landings not just bop it in to the spot that I have seen in your other landings training video. Fantastic content is it a 4s setup you have there. I am waiting on my Eternitys to be ready. 🤗
The happy sound of a variometer in lift! It's almost a narcotic effect, full scale or RC.

Amazing. I’m just starting into the RC Hobby and just the first 2 minutes alone are the best educational content I have found so far. Thank you! 🤩
This video really is the best thermal lessons in TH-cam!! Watching it for the third or forth time!!
Thanks Den
Awesome glider and flight! I like your flying skills! Bravo! This hobby is really fantastic!

Lots of great advice here, thank you! I'm going to try putting some of your techniques into use this weekend...
My first video about thermals. Thanks, cool technique!
Best regards from Bavaria
I could literally feel it. That vario is cool to hear. Great video! On my favorite list now.

Just a IPhone SE on my hat and just a bit zoom, and just fly near by 👍😀
Thanks a lot, very nice tips. Making my wind sock today for my next flying session!
Thanks for sharing your expirience and knowledge Dan!!

stayed up until I was tired of flying.
I don’t get tired, my thermal duration record is 9 hours 7 min. 😁
Great lesson Master
Thank you ! Wonderful video.
Awesome video. So informative. Thank you.
This video has been very helpful. Thank you! I've been like a blind squirrel searching for a nut. I would get lucky once in a while.
Do it like this then you don't need to be lucky :) Yesterday I flew my thermal flight number 50 over 1 hour this season :)
Thats a real skill you have there, thanks for sharing
Fascinating! Thank you for the education...

I fly it on 3 cell-1000 to 2200 mha batt
Tusen takk!! Utrolig bra og informativ video!!
Thank you for the information. What transmitter and which Vario???
Spektrum DX9 and a AR8020T rx with inbuild vario and altimeter
Good video. Thanks.
Dejlig video. Så er det bare på med svævestøvlerne.
Hvor kan jeg købe den sender der fortæller højden?
Den koster sikkert spidsen af en jetjager hehe.

Wow. That’s great!
When I fly a sailplane, I don't find the thermals, it does.
Better man than me with all those miles flying around 😩😩😩
what kind of glider is this?
Nan Explorer 3,8 meter F5j
Great demo Ben.
Strap a GoPro to it ;0)
th-cam.com/video/bvASMCP5fNg/w-d-xo.html
some good info but why would you park your car in the way o f of your so called road ?
🤣
Maybe the warm car was acting as a thermal generator. ;)
You seem to enjoy a lot of sunny, perfect gliding weather in Denmark.
They are in my drawer
I havent flown gliders for many years, but Video's like this..... REALLY whett my apetite.... THink I will buy me a DLG
Nice :) let the thermal hunt begin :)
