Having Jonathan Ferguson keeper of firearms and artillery at the royal armouries museum in the UK in Fortnite feels like the most Fortnite thing they could do.
I normally hate 3rd party skins but I would totally buy that in a heartbeat.
Special styles with different T-shirts. Emotes when his character picks up a cursed firearm and he looks grieved by what the devs have done now. A wrap so all his weapons are the real world colours. Back bling of an emotional support StG44 (?) But what’s his glider and pickaxe?
The glide is just a big png of Dave and the pickaxes is that vampires killing kit

"It's funny how COD are moving away from realistic firearms while Fortnite is moving towards realistic firearms". It's scarily accurate how Jonathan fully describes the current state of both games despite not playing them.
Reminds me of the time where he criticized the "righteous bison" in TF2, because it looked weak. He was horribly right.

Black's guns aren't really cursed, more like Magically Hollywood capable. Love the game.

Shell ejections do exist within Fortnite, but at lower graphics settings, the particle effect that displays them gets disabled

The Creative mode to Fortnite has a LOT more guns, I'd be lying if I didn't say I was curious on Johnathan's thoughts on those guns, especially since a bunch of them are a lot more cartoony than what this episode had

As a very late arrival to Fortnite (only came in because of Festival) I’m very surprised that this cartoony take on battle royale would have guns as detailed or moreso than PUBG.
@paulsd9255 originally the guns were extremely cartoony, but epic has gotten better at making them realistic (somewhat)
Props to the editor for actually pointing out specific parts of the gun that Johnathan was talking about. Certainly makes it easier to follow along.
On the other hand, the person capturing gameplay for him didn't remove the gun "wraps" (skins) which aren't part of the design but a player choice. I hate when they do that and not tell Johnathan that it's a skin and not part of the design.
@@fredbyoutubingthat and (although it’s been a few years since I played) iirc guns do eject shells, but they turned down some graphical settings, so they’re not visible in the video

@@skelreal M'y bad, I didn't even notice while using wraps myself. It's an odd choice but maybe that's to make them legally distinct and more cartoonist?
The one thing I have always enjoyed is the lack of “old man shouts at the sky” with JF. Came across really well with these guns.
My son and I briefly met Mr. Ferguson last summer at the Royal Armoury in Leeds. We didn't want to take up a lot of his time, so my son forgot to ask him if they were going to make a Fortnite episode. Thanks for reading his mind!
Can't overstate how much I like the back and forth between these two.
It is getting better as Dave is learning more about firearms as well. He's come a long way from the earliest videos where he first started chiming in. He's regularly making insightful comments and references of late.

I'm pretty sure the lack of case ejection might be a replay issue, it shows in-game.

There is different reload animations depending on what magazine you pick. If you pick the quick mag for the pump shotgun, they quad load it, and with the Scar, if you put a drum on it, they pull the actual charging handle, not just the bolt catch
They ought to make a Jonathan skin with most or all of the proceeds going to the museum. Honor the man and his work at the same time. Now someone go tell Epic :-)
Ya know I was thinking I'd hope they'd compensate him but honestly that's a really good idea and I hope that if they do end up adding him at least part of the proceeds do end up going to the museum that'd be fantastic

I’ve been a huge fan of the H&K Mk23 ever since Metal Gear Solid used it but this is the first time I’ve ever seen just how HUGE the blasted thing actually is.
It's designed to be an offensive pistol and to be used as a primary weapon. It's larger than most full-sized pistols besides maybe the Desert Eagle.

There's two SCARs in Fortnite. The Striker variant is the new and the regular assult rifle is the old scar. Also the guns not ejecting shels is a replay bug
I would love to see Jonathan react to some of the exotics from The Division 2. A barb wire covered SMG, a shotgun with pellets coated in poison, I’d love to hear his take on them

Would you do a video on the legal reasons why game guns have to be different than production models? Its becoming something of a huge issue in games like Call of Duty and such.
Ah excellent, I've been asking for this for ages! You could easily makes tens of videos on this game, there's literally hundreds of weapons in the game at this point, definitely would like to see more featured!

6:25 from what I’ve seen fortnite has had pretty inconsistent shell ejection between graphics settings.
I'd absolutely love to see one of these episodes done live. Have Dave playing the game on one side of the screen, let Jonathan ask if he can try different guns or attachments, let chat have some input as well, I think that would be really fun.
I really love these videos. they're so fun. Fortnite has become one of my favorite games over the course of the last year, and I've been waiting for this!

You guys should get Johnathon to take a look at the weapons from Receiver 2 one day. They're hands down the most realistic guns I've seen in any game, especially since every part of the gun has to be manually operated by the player.
Great idea, especially with how the crappiness of the hi point actually makes it dangerous to the player haha
I would highly recommend having Jonathan take a look at the handguns in Receiver 2. As well as what the tape narrator has to say about the history of each.

They should however put Jonathan in the game. That would be awesome.
My guess as to why the characters hold the guns gears of war style is probably because if they were to rig/animate every new character to hold the gun perfectly it would probably take way more time then it would be worth considering how many people even pay attention to that stuff.

there are actually rear sight block replacements that replace the iron sights with picatinny rails so it's possible to make a continuous rail ak.
Looking through footage of pre-Doom FPS, I think Doom actually *is* the first FPS with cartridge cases ejecting. Surprisingly few even show the player's current gun in their "hand" (Wolf 3D may actually be the first).
68th week of asking for episode on Bullet Girls Phantasia. 44th week of asking for Loadout on games not keeping track of the round in the chamber between reloads.

I was just watching the SCAR episode of Loadout and it apparently the firearms used to eject cases when that was filmed…do wonder when that feature/effect was removed.
Please Jonathan Ferguson, the keeper of Firearms & Artillery at the Royal Armouries museum in the UK, break down the weapons from *METAL GEAR SOLID 3* before the remake comes out.
So many weapons in MGS3 to react and comment on like the Patriot's infinite ammo magazine, the EZ tranq gun, Snake's customized officer M1911A1, Snake whittling the pistol grip to use a knife for CQC, Ocelot's SAA juggling skills, The End's paratrooper tranquilizer Mosin Nagant, the Davey Crockett recoil-less nuclear launcher and Eva's chinese mauser clone.
There are so many more other interesting trivias and weapons in MGS3 so please gamespot and Johnathan make a video for the game.

Perhaps just a compilation of the each series more memorable or iconic weapons, since the games mentioned are mainly comprised of sci-fi elements.
I believe case ejections show up if you are on a higher graphics setting than the player showing was. Great video.

Cool fact about the c5 weapons: most are revamped ane reimagined older models from the OG classic fortnite weapons.
Does the UK really not do toilet plungers? They're used for a completely differnt task than a brush. Brushes are for cleaning; plungers are for clearing jams.

That “burst only” smg has been a burst only type of weapon since 2019 BUT they did make a fully automatic one in 2020 I believe it’s all black and orange

im very surprised and amazed by how functional that shield design is.
Another reason Jonathan maybe didn't recognize Chun-Li is that this is her Street Fighter Alpha (1995) outfit instead of her iconic Street Fighter II outfit.
The buns and the color scheme should be a dead giveaway, though.

Casings have been ejecting, the Fortnite replay is just buggy, hence the mag, and sights disappearing due to the modifications weapons can now have. Mags have been disappearing due to the reload animations too, now just more common.
Casings not showing is also related to graphics settings. It's highly probable they were playing on low graphics settings. It's unfortunate, as Jonathan couldn't really judge the game on its actual merits.

I honestly think that the ranger pistol is Springfield’s Armory brand new Echelon and the Nemesis AR is the AK200 and the Ballistic Shield is a riot shield with the Echelon

I’m happy when Jonathan checking out about weapons from Fortnite but many weapons we missed are Accuracy International Arctic Warfare rifle, Barrett .50 rifle, AR-15 rifle, and more.
pump shotgun has mistimed sound. it pumps and the pump forward sound plays too, then pump forward animation is silent.
If they put our favorite keeper of firearms and artillery into Fortnite, maybe with his emotional support Sturmgewehr as a back bling I'd totally buy it
