"Torchwick... might be might favorite character bro". My favorite characters during the Beacon arc were Penny, Ozpin and Roman... I'm sure you can understand how that feels.
Volume 9 is pretty much one giant Alice in Wonderland reference. The opening will make sense in context when you get there. Thanks for the reaction vid!
Opening 8 switches to make the off beat the main beat shortly after weiss finishes her bee attack, due to the villains showing up to disrupt that portion
9 being so hated by reactions is painful because I just watch Ruby slowly fall further and further as it goes on and it's just missed by people going "that was weird" =(. Even without context every season you see her doing her best but then this one she's in literal tears.
Volume 9 intro is very context heavy compared to other intros, so it's no surprise that it's in last place. I enjoyed it a lot personally, and once I finished the volume and re-watched the intro, it became my #1 favorite where all the pieces fall into place.
The music wasn't off pace in the vol 8 intro. Since Casey Lee Williams and Martin Gonzalez took over after Jeff Williams retired they have been introducing more a more progressive style to the music. Prog is known for having more complex time signatures which I will admit it isn't for everyone, especially if you don't have the ear for it and aren't used to it. It is a fantastic song and I am happy to see the more proggy tone the music has taken, very in line with Casey's band Ok Goodnight.
My favourite is probably still the first opening... I think the longer version played for chapter 1, but I believe because the episodes were pretty short, that they shortened the opening so it wouldn't get too annoying... Like it's almost as long as some of the episodes lol.... Ok I'm exaggerating, but you know what I mean... I run into slight issues ordering the rest, because some have neat visuals, but I'm not as big a fan of the song... Then some songs I don't like the short opening version as much, but then the extended versions make some of them better... Like the extended version of volume 4's opening I like a fair bit more than the short one... The extended version of volume 5 might have one of my favourite lines, although the song might not be too high up in general... The volume 2 opening probably comes second place for me... Especially the extended version... Volume 7 is probably my favourite visually, though 6 might come close... I quite like the trippiness of volume 9's visuals, but some bits don't look quite right with the block colours... I wasn't keen on the volume 8 opening at first either, but it grew on me... A lot of the openings have... I'm not entirely sure why you disliked the volume 9 opening so much, but I suppose it is a bit of an odd one out... Not just because what's going on in it visually, but it's the first opening song not written by Jeff Williams, who wrote almost all of the other songs in the show.... His daughter Casey, the singer for most of the songs in the show, took over writing the songs with a co-writer for volume 9... It's a bit of a different feel, but I think they still did something really cool with it... Kinda crazy that when the series started she was like 13/14 years old... Might have even been 12 when they recorded the colour trailers... I forget... Ah well ^_^;;
I find it a bit odd that everyone seems to like Volume 2's opening the best considering I personally think it's my least favourite. The hyper-fast pacing just isn't doing it for me, and nearly all the interesting stuff in it will you only get if you pause every split second.
I think it's the song more than the visuals, although some of the visuals are pretty cool too... Some are kinda weird though, like the Cinder bit with the strange effect on it... That said, especially after a few watches I've gotten used to the speed and can catch most things in it.

Man op 1 song is so nostalgic, crazy how far this show has come.
Please don’t spoil yourself with the intros l. If you have bad memory that’s good
Most people aren't able to put small details together to guess plot points. They're not very spoilery.
I get vol 9 op confused you but you can't tell me you didn't like that song.
Op 9 is my number 1 favourite when it comes to the ones after Vol 3 because the visuals paired/synced up with the song is so good and clever.
Remember that these contain spoilers. So try not to think about them to much.
They really don't. They use a lot of symbolism, but they don't really spoil any plot points.

"Somewhere like, in my top five"
Says about the 4th song. That got a good chuckle out of me.

Might be 1st for me honestly.

I like the visuals the op8 and the song but not together. It just doesn't feel like a RWBY opening but the song is great in a by itself.
ooooh, this is fun
Almost the same as my list except i put 4 above 3

I like it a lot, but my favorite is "Rising".
same. i knd of just like the song
