"Were we born to fight and die? Sacrificed for one huge lie? Are we heroes keeping peace? Or are we weapons pointed at the enemy So someone else can claim a victory?" This line has always sat with me, and given me chills. Ever since I first heard this song when I started watching RWBY while Vol 3 was still being released.
Having those lines in your head during a deployment will "do a number" on your peace of mind for sure. But then you come back, and realize its all of us. Not a single one is spared being a contributor to that "victory" or "failure". Its just easier to ignore in a "civil" society where you don't see the consequences in your face at all time. (Rwby wasn't the only thing people had as deployment aids to unwind in a "healthy" way)
- 35:21 - All Our Days - sounds vague because it isn't a RWBY song. Jeff Williams wrote it about 10 years earlier and included it here on the VOL 2 OST. He wrote it about Casey when she was little. Jeff never told Casey about this song. When she was in the booth recording it - she quickly realized her dad had written it about her and she started crying and they had to stop recording for a bit. - 50:20 - Sacrifice - the interpreted meaning of and who is, "singing", this song, evolves as the storyline progresses. During Vol 6, is when my favorite interpretation arises. - 57:20 - This Will Be The Day ( Acoustic) - Starting with Volume 2 there is usually an acoustic version of a song from a previous soundtrack. This is the V1 Op.
since you asked Jeff Williams, Casey's father not only composes all the music but does the majority of male and background vocals on volumes 1-8. Casey's Mom features on Vol 1, there are several guest singers on Vol 7 and all the rap on every volume is done by Lamar Hall. Edit there is also a guest vocalist on a vol 9 song as well.
To add to this, the guitar solos you love are all done by Jeff Williams, all the way up to Volume 8. Casey takes over the song composition for Volume 9 and even brings her own band into the mix. Looking forward to Reggie witnessing the future greatness.
@@Covallok I am so glad Casey and Martin took over for Jeff going forward. Not that I don't absolutely love Jeff's work but I absolutely LOVE the proggier direction they are taking with a lot of the music. Which is why I love Ok Goodnight so much.
The foreshadowing from the OSTs are crazy. Also, can't wait for your reaction to Volume 4! I've never heard any of the OSTs. Just the intro songs for each volume.
So at 47:31 is Nora weapon name so this the list of Team RWBY and JNPR RWBY Weapon Name: Team RWBY(RUBY) Ruby Rose: Crescent Rose Weiss Schnee: Myrtenaster Blake Belladonna: Gambol Shroud Yang Xiao Long: Ember Celica Team JNPR(JUNIPER) Jaune Arc: Crocea Mors Nora Valkyrie: Magnhild Pyrrha Nikos: Miló and Akoúo̱ Lie Ren: StormFlower
Ironwood: Due Process Qrow: Harbinger ?????: Life and Death - included the name of the weapon set of a future character because I think the name is bad ass. Since all weapons/ weapons sets were custom made for a particular person, they all have unique names.
54:44 if you hear rapping in any RWBY song, it is most likely Lamar Hall. If you need a reference in the future, the RWBY Wiki lists the full credits for each song. You can also get to the soundtrack list from the main menu (which will help reduce any spoilers).
So they had Monty's outline for the whole show when they made the sound track so there is stuff in season 2 soundtrack that will come into play in season 7 because the soundtrack gives you what is in their head and not being said
little refresher of the tracks (at least from my memory) track 1: intro track 2: the fight with the mech track 3: dance party track 4: one of the outros track 5: season finale (And my favorite of the album) track 6: season ending outro i think track 7: character track i think (for Nora) track 8: Villian background track 9: slower rendition of volume 1 intro track
Sacrifice, the song you called a Cinder song, is a song that foreshadows probably more than any song in the whole show. It's also one of the songs that the FNDM go back and forth on for what it's about. I have my ideas but cannot say due to again, the foreshadowing. It's one of those songs to listen to again once you get through a lot of the show. I know once I did it fully changed what I thought it was about.
You asked how the music is made. Jeff Williams would compose ONLY what was needed during the production of that Volume. So he would only write the OPs for only however long they needed, say a minute. He worked with the writers to compose songs to fit the current storyline during production. This is why the confirmation of Emerald's semblance happens, in the song, playing during the scene she first uses it in show. It is on the Vol 3 OST btw. After Volume production is over Jeff would then flesh out all of these partial songs to complete songs for the OSTs, usually within a few months of that Volume's finale.
Also just think that John and Casey made a full album for every single Volume! And almost every song is super hype! Damn just the effort they put into them is amazing!
I definitely reccommend also reacting to the volume 3 soundtrack and the ones for later volumes once you get to them. They're... pretty much required to get the FULL picture of everything.
I know it took a while, but the music is awesome, and I wanna be in the right head space to fully enjoy it. And yea, we'll never get that type of fun again
@@ReggieWolf All true and it's really just starting! I mean you are done with Volume 3 and there are 9 Volumes so far so yeah have at it man! It changes, yes, but it stays quality!
flynt would usually commission artists to make a picture to fit what people believed the song was about so they usually fit better than most other lyric videos. The picture he uses for the VOL 3 OP is one of my favorite pieces of RWBY fanart.
Yeah, flynt is the way to go. I know there are a few songs they don't have a lyric video for. If you run into that, from what I have seen Sirs & Madams Entertainment also does pretty good lyric videos. I believe both of them got their lyrics directly from Jeff Williams.
@@ReggieWolf Just to really reiterate + add. Flynt is the way to go for sure but there are a few gaps in his tracks for the OSTs. If you need someone to hook you up I could probably throw some playlists together so you aren't missing out on other bonus tracks from the OST that don't get covered. (For example, for Volume 2 he doesn't have "This Will Be The Day" Acoustic) I would of course make sure to curate this playlist for each volume so you don't get ahead.
Nora says boop in I think the 3rd episode? It’s when they were in the forest and Ren defeats the King Taijitu (dual snake) she comes down from a tree after making and “sloth” noise and Ren says “I don’t think that’s what a sloth sounds like” and Nora boops his nose and says boop
25:14 The way I've seen it is actually like that. In fact I think thats why Phyrra asks Jaun his opinion in season 3, they've grown closer and she loves him so dearly that she needed his answer. I don't think them officially being together would have changed much, maybe she would have told him the full story but even then they were cornered and forced to take on the powers.
Glad to see you're still on the hype train. I'd also remind you to watch the Volume 4 Character Short before jumping into volume 4 proper. 4-6 all have Character Shorts that act the same as the original trailers. They're all canon and they all explain a part of the story moving forward. It's also written noting that the source you're using for lyrics is notoriously unreliable. FlyntOfRWBY is much more accurate with lyrics and has a more professional style that ties more directly into the songs' subjects and meanings. I highly recommend looking into his work for Soundtracks. It's also worth noting that the songs aren't meant to be entirely literal. It's more meant to be accompaniment to the scenes they're featured in, and only affect the world of rwby in broad strokes. There's one little thing that happens in every volume's soundtrack. Jeff and Casey call in their friend Lamar Hall to drop a rap verse in every volume. Some of them are badass, some fall flat, and some are so unexpected that you feel like a kick in the nuts. But he cameos once every volume and it's always fun trying to predict when he'll show up.
My theory for why jaune never realized Pyrrha was into him is because of what Weiss said in volume 1 about how out of his league Pyrrha was subconsciously making him not look at her in that way
Pyrrha's second song being as much a diss track to Weiss as much as it's a love song to Jaune was never something I expected. It also shows that Pyrrha, as kind and selfless to a fault as she is, certainly has more pride and sass in her than she lets on in the show.😂
The exclamation point subtitle videos drive me crazy. Both for their excessive use of said points and the fact they have incorrect lyrics in certain places.
Sacrifice is a bonified CINDER FALL song She's trying to say through the Lyrics "Huntsmen aren't heroes, they only care about getting payed for their service. Or even worse the people they help just get more despair anyway."
volume 2 has to be my favorite soundtrack, so many intense songs that forshadowed volume 3. The places they showed up in was perfect and the pyrrha x jaune songs was just so tragic after seeing volume 3 I like to call track 4 the pyrrha if she was a yandere song
I think volume 2's songs, as a whole OST, is my favourite selection of songs when compared to the others... Volume 7 close after maybe... I think those two have the best variety of tracks in them... There are songs from other volumes that I would rate higher than the ones in those volumes, but as a whole selection of songs, 2 and 7 are probably my faves... That said I'm not super familiar with the volume 9 OST yet... Because it's Casey and another composer I find it harder to compare as well... It's really cool in different ways, but I don't know... I don't think I'd put it as my favourite either way, so I think 2 and 7 are safe lol... Although, every volume has a great selection of songs, even volume 8, despite it not having many. I think a lot of music in this volume makes me think late 90s, early 2000s... That said, I also think that they feel like that era imitating other eras lol... Like Shine has a bunch of 70s disco elements... But it's like a 90's pop version of that... I dunno... I think Sacrifice might fit better with another character... I won't explain why yet, because it's a bit tricky to explain until at least after volume 4, maybe after 5... Cinder might fit, but I think another character fits better...
Why do people keep recommending those awful lyric videos. There are waaay better ones. Seriously the one that just flash one word at a time are unwatchable.
They're usually some of the first posted, so they have TONS of hits and are almost always at the top of searches. Thankfully in later seasons they fixed things with the videos and stop doing that. I agree, it's just hard to watch.
