  • Join me as I spend time with the Kambula Pride in this week's Londolozi Virtual Safari! 🌿🐾
After a light rain, I watched the pride as they finished a zebra meal and were prompted to move around by two large elephant bulls nearby. The next morning, we found the pride again, about 2km from our last sighting, and the 13 playful cubs were full of energy!
Watch as they chase, tackle, and climb a Cassia tree, offering a great opportunity to compare how leopards and lions climb trees. Get ready for an exciting look at the lively side of the Kambula cubs!
Don't miss this spectacular adventure with the lions! 🎥🦁

This was super cute. Cats are the same, whether domestic or wild; they are full of character and laughs, which is why I love them so much.

I just love these videos. Growing up in Joburg, I only ever got to spend one weekend in the Kruger Park nearly 30 years ago. These videos take me back to where my heart belongs. Thanks Londolozi. Is there any chance of getting some bug sightings? I really miss the insects.

Glad you like them! I will see if we come across anything small for you. Sadly going into winter now we are less likely to have many insects around.

Hello LGR. Although a very short video clip of the larger 18 strong Kambula pride with the playful and energetic 1yr old cubs messing about and playing with each other in the tree and on the ground, but what I find quite interesting is the fact that the Kambula pride members are distant to cousins of the Tsalala lioness, who we haven't seen in a clip over there for about a year.
I don't know what you think although your opinion/thoughts will be interesting, but don't you think there's a strong possibility they'll let the slightly younger Tsalala lioness join their pride at all? I bet she would cautiously accept a bit of company. Wouldn't she? After all other than been distantly related, she is a similar age to the younger adult lionesses of the bigger part of the Kambula pride there as well. Isn't she?
I don't know if the four big adult Kambula males and their sister and cousin will allow her to join them, as that way, if her own first suspected pregnancy wasn't successful, then she'll be able to mate with and have cubs sired by them and have her similar age distant female cousin help her feed and raise the cubs, as she to has yet to breed and become a first time mother over there as well.
Do you know if she's still very heavily pregnant, or if she has given birth to her own very first litter of cubs there yet at all? There just wasn't any mention of her pregnancy yesterday. I do hope she isn't infertile, but maybe she will just need to mate a bit or a lot more and a fair bit harder successfully. Perhaps that'll encourage her to try a lot more if she isn't due cubs at all. Wouldn't it? At five years old, she's certainly able to breed and produce her first ever litter of cubs to rebuild her clinging on birth pride's former numbers back up and restore the pride back to it's old glory.
Nonetheless, I would, if it ever happens, like to see her, (the Tsalala lioness), in a few video clips for the first time in ages so that I can get a good and very clear view of her to see if her tummy is pregnant or not. I hope it'll be easy to tell, but it also might not be. She's such a very special lioness to have a lot of fun and good sightings with there, as she either looks to breed or give birth, and she's got rather elusive so recently.
Just out of interest, have you also managed to sex the 3 cubs of the Nkoveni female and the 2 cubs of the younger Ximhungwe female yet at all? I'm just very interested to see and know what they all are. It's great to have at least 5 new tiny leopard cubs roaming your property with their mothers, and possibly looking to keep on increasing the leopard population there in the many years to come and go. But it all depends if they survive or not. I know we can't do anything about it, but I hope the two busy mothers don't suffer any untimely casualties what so ever. It's always sad when lion and leopard cubs don't survive.
A few clips and/or updates on the old Mashaba female will also be a very special cat and sight to see. Even if it's totally unbelievable, but she's done very well to reach 15 years and 7 months old now. Hasn't she? We obviously don't know how much longer she'll be around for, but it'll be nice to think she will be around for at least another year or two really. I haven't got the foggiest idea how many litters of cubs she's had during her long lifetime. So if anyone knows better then indo, then do let me know on her as soon and as quickly as possible please. It will help.
Hope to hear from you shortly.
