Sean thank you for the beautiful video! I pray the little cub improves and the swelling will go down! So sad to know it may not survive i know they say not to intervene but it could be something real easy to fix even if it has to be cared for and not get back to its family i would think that would be better than starving! I'm so sorry for the little fella i will be praying for a speedy recovery for it. Please keep us posted and thank you for having such a big heart and loving them the way you do!

Sean.. Thank you for that Beautiful Video & Update. The first time You Showed that Female and her Cubs, about #217 Two Weeks ago, I had noticed that littlelest Baby's Jaw was Injured or that trauma had taken place some how.
I'm Happy to see that the Mother is Giving it attention, licking at the little mouth, and nose and even playing with it. As we know normally when they have an injury or something of that kind, she would leave it and take the other babies and go.
It has a lot of Spunk and runs after and plays with the others, I noticed when it was curled up in the Tree, the other two Babies wanted to come and lie down with it.
Keep the Beautiful Vid's coming, they are very Relaxing to Watch.... ❤

In nature the law of survival is not promissed to any. It is the law of the fittest. All wildlife lives by this law. In our eyes it is harsh, however this law protects the balance and must be respected. As townies we are sometimes not able to understand this law. Non the less it is there. Thank you for sharing these special moments with us. Your empathy and yet understanding of nature is sincere. Thank you for this insight and we can hope the cub survives. 😢🙏🙏🙏💖💖💖

That she rasied three cubs to this age to begin with is itself a success! The Nyeleti Female did it last in the Sabi Sand but the Makwela female also raised three female cubs successfully born in 2001: The Ravenscourt/Sindile Female, Mabirri Female, and Tsonga Female west of Londolozi

My heart is hurting for all 4 of them. Mama, bc she will more than likely lose her cub, the siblings who will lose a brother or sister and the poor cub whose affected by this. This would be one of those times I don't envy you your job. It would be so hard to not intervene and help it out, but I understand. Then what? It wouldn't be happy in the care of humans anyhow probably. It deserves to be wild and free like it's mama. Thanks so much for the video and yes, pls keep us updated on this precious lil baby. God can work miracles so we never know what will happen. Bless you all.

My heart breaks for this little cub! I know you don't intervene and I understand why 100% but while the deaths of other cubs are usually at the hands of another predator and is a sudden, quick death; I can't but imagine that this cub will starve to death which can be a slow death. No easy answers, I understand, and you all must be heartbroken as well. 😢

Hi LGR. I know it seems awfully sad that one young cub looks to have a bit of a lopsided jaw, but only time will tell what will happen with the cub in the end eventually. But other than that, I do, like you, admire how well the Nkoveni female has done to get her tiny triplets to this stage in their young short lives they're now at already. Hasn't she? So to be optimistic, I wouldn't look on the worst side of things to much otherwise you might not be able to focus on the other big cats properly just without worrying to much of the time.
That cub with the slightly odd and lopsided jaw, is it the male cub or one of the tiny females? I'm only interested to know. I can also understand you're so very worried about intervening to save the little cub, but as you said in the clip, it will need a lot of expensive surgery to repair it, but I don't know how the nearly 12yr old experienced mother would react to it if it was to be brought back to her after it's fully healed there after a few weeks of quiet recovering.
I don't think we ought to let that distract our concentration too much. I'd say we should just focus on our thoughts and imagination on how she'll cope raising the family successfully. Apart from that, the Nkoveni female, who will be 12 years old in August, is a very good, devoted and highly experienced mother leopard whenever it comes to hunting and cub raising over there. I think she should be given a good mother leopard medal. I'm sure she'll be able to raise and produce at least another two litters or so before her time in raising cubs is up and she becomes infertile.
I'd say for that poor little cub, there is a 50/50 chance of it pulling through and not pulling through to independence. I hope next Sunday's Virtual Safari will be a lot more of a cheerful and happy one for us all. Sad ones don't really bere thinking about at all, and I'd rather not think about that myself either. There's been a lot and enough sadness over the last few years by loosing big cats so untimely, to either predation or not enough food. It was very sad about 4 or 5 weeks ago, when we found the Ximungwe female had lost both of her cubs thanks to those hyenas who were very much undoubtedly responsible cutting their lives far to short simply by killing them. So I am dure we all do still feel sorry for her double loss so early. Let's hope she'll have some much better luck with her next brood once she's mated with a big and strong territorial male.
Can I just suggest that we think of some much happier and more promising things in the lives of the lions and leopards? I hope you don't mind me saying that to you.
Let's just think of what the future lies ahead for the much loved Tsalala lioness and her own very first litter of cubs as well as the rebuilding of the pride after a long period.
Hope to hear from you shortly.
    Robert 19.5.24

I don't understand why sometimes the boss decides okay we can intervene and then other times the boss says no. Who's in charge who plays God? Who makes up the rules, because I've seen leopards less injured than this poor cub who have gotten help. Just a thought! It would be nice to know who's the boss playing God and making the decisions.

Hmm, this is one of those Damned if you do Damned if you dont...
Because who is to say that her cub will make it thru the surgery?
You know this is quite the situation, and like you said, it will have to be reintroduced to the family, and that may not go too well?
To many conundrums sounds like to me?
I think like someone said it has a 50 / 50 shot either way.
I hate to see any animal or human suffer.
One can only wonder why was it that i came across this and is it a sign i need to, look the other way or choose to give that cub a second chance? Im sorry that things are as they are and i feel like what ever you all choose will be the right answer. You all have done well recently with all the choices you have been making and seems all the animals there seem to be fit and healthy...
So im behind you all whichever way you decide.
Thank you for sharing this with us and you all will be in my thoughts and prayers, sending all positive healing energy the little cubs way.

In my opinion the vet SHOULD SAVE the cub!!!!! In Kenya the vets are allowed to treat the animals and try to save them!!!!!
I wonder if you get sick don’t you go to the doctor? It’s the same thing! If humans can be treated for their illnesses and accidents so should animals! It is NOT interfering with nature!

I'd like to comment on what I feel.
I do not comment often or at all on the many similar videos or channels like this.
I love all animals and understand nature can bring so many constant feelings of joy and happiness along with the brutal realty
    of the wild.
I feel and think that as humans we need to intervene sometimes and this is one of those cases.
Its not entirely through pity or simply the enjoyment we all get watching nature thrive but possibly one of necessity.
Most of us would help another human in times of need or distress without question.
I think its quite clear today that nature really does need our help regardless of intervening in the circle of life.
I would remove that cub and give it the help it needs.

I agree totally w-intervening but the rule is intervention only if it is/was a man-made incident, i.e. a snare, but if natural causes, it is left on its own. I do not agree. If I were there I would do what I could then return it to its natural environment after healing, safe from infection, good nutrition. I have not watched this video yet, just saw the title & doubted that I would watch, then reading some of the comments I decided against seeing it. I am that sensitive & cannot deal. I have no idea what caused the issue but someone said the cub died.

  • @russellshipman8962

It is so sad that the little cub has dislocated its jaw but I think you are making a mistake in not intervening. Your lives have intersected with the lives of the animals and you are not just watchers, you are participators - there is no distinction between humans and nature, although we like to think so. We are part of nature and we have a unique capacity to help our fellow creatures. All your 'practical' arguments fail in the face of saving the cub's life because you cannot predict what will happen to the cub if you do help to fix the jaw. Just the possibility of it having a fulfilling life is enough for you to try. Not to mention the bonds and understanding that could form between the leopard cub and the humans it interacts with. It could make an enormous difference to this little one's life. Like the story of the thousands of jellyfish washed up on a beach and a man walking along throwing them back into the sea. A stranger walked up to him and told him was wasting his time. He couldn't make a difference - there were too many jellyfish. The man picked up a jellyfish and threw it into the sea. Then he turned and said, 'Made a difference to that one!' All your practical arguments fail in the light of trying to save this one precious life.

You're involved in filming for commercial purposes to sell safaris and not animal conservation as that would involve calling the vet and surgery for the leopard cub. I wonder who would pay for that? It's just not worth your while, as you stated. Unsubscribed!

    • @HollisRules
      @HollisRules 27 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

I personally didn’t take his comment as literally as stated. I think the commentary about selling safaris is a bit unfair. I don’t at all believe the intent was to imply that it wasn’t worth the time but more so risky and impractical. I’ve visited Londolozi multiple times and I know for a fact that they care deeply for these animals. In fact, though it’s rare, I was there once when there was an intervention to help a deeply wounded Rhino due to their endangered status. Taking the cub away at this point would neither guarantee survival or if so, successful reentry to the bush. It would be impossible for rangers/trackers intervene every time they saw a wounded cub or animal. Though sad, nature has to run its course here. As for these posts, they are less about selling safaris and more about simply sharing highlights of the week especially for previous visitors. If these were marketing videos 100% of them would be ‘happy stories’ but the bush isn’t the zoo. Unfortunately, bad stuff happens….

      I'm also heartbroken.
Still, it's worth remembering that the problem of helping is complicated, he told a little bit about it. Last but not least, people prefer to pay for watching football or formula1 or tennis than chipping in into saving wildlife.
I also wish the cub can be helped.

    • @wendeogden1930
      @wendeogden1930 27 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

So, you take the cub, operate, and then what? And how would you get the cub? Dart the mother? Go after the cub when mom is not around? It will run up the tree. Climb the tree? Dart while in the tree? What happens after surgery? It will have to recuperate. Give it back to mom? Will she accept it? Do you see all the problems? What animals do we intervene with? They come across hurt animals all the time. Who decides when to intervene? Nature knows what it's doing. Unless man causes harm ( like snares), let nature decide. It's easy to armchair judge. And if you think it's all about money, the more animals they have on their reserve, the more people will come and visit. Nature knows how to balance itself.

Animal conservation best practice frameworks in SA do not include treatment intervention unless in cases where harm was caused by humans, with very, very rare caveats for critically endangered species.
Whether the guide “wanted to” or not, KNP and concession policy (they’re mostly aligned but have differences) wouldn’t allow for intervention.
