I remember when my High School showed this movie in the Gymnasium. Me and most of the kids thought it was a blast and it creep'd out most of the girls too. I still like this movie today.
I saw this movie back in '75. I was 8 years old. WOW what a ghastly, evil looking devil that Ernest Borgnine played. Very wicked looking! This movie is the stuff of nightmares! The evil church with the inverted pentagram, the ghastlyness of the whole movie was incredible!
Damian Bartolacci I know the comments 3 years old, but I still have to respond. The reason for this is because this is where they took the cast of his face that became the Captain Kirk mask that they turned into the Michael Myers mask
Yeah, I'm sure they dialed it back a bit. Studios were always looking for some angle to try and sell the picture. There was a movie back in the...70s I think, that gave out barf bags as a gimmick saying how disgusting the film was. Thanks! Yeah, I'm trying to get the word out and get more subs. If you can, spread the word! More subs are always welcome!
Saw this in the theater as a kid and remember how bad but running a crossed this review blew me away. Shatner allowing himself to be a bad guy, Anton Lavey as a dark priest and the movie where John Travolta learned of Scientology from a fellow cast member. True Hollywood gold 😉 thank you for another awesome trip down my demented memory lane
The pokemon bit came really late in the creative process. I'm glad it worked out, it made me laugh a lot. You should watch a movie called "This film is not yet rated". Its a doc about how corrupt the ratings board is.
Haha, love the Danzig reference... I bet not too many caught that. Shatner had retired from the Star Fleet so was doing these crazy movies, catch him in Go Ask Alice. the ABC made for TV movie from the same era.
Just 0:50 seconds into this review and there is already a reference to Manos! Thats how I know this will be another awesome review. I have never heard of this movie, but it sure had its share of soon to be famous actors playing in it. And I wonder why its called The Devil`s Rain when it proves to be lethal to his own followers? Ah well, I suppose they did not read the small text at the bottom of their contract. Rain will also make you melt, but that`s not important right now.
13:29 I had a funny feeling you was going to use that LOL! Awesome job once again I think I remember catching this the middle of this flick at a young age on tv it just creeped me out especially the ending and seeing what they did to Shatner's eyes too!
I looooooooooove Ozploitation. I did Turkey Shoot (Escape 2000) a while back and have been meaning to get to more. Not Quite Hollywood was a great documentary.
This is one of my favorites. 70s films seem to have this grime and gloom that adds character. You might cover Kingdom of the Spiders, another Shatner gem from this period. I believe there are interviews and other materials out there for your perusal. And have you covered Blood on Satan's Claw?
Great review mate, I know you get heaps of requests but have you ever thought about exploring Ozploitation films? Quentin Tarantino is a huge fan of them. Films like Patrick, Long Weekend, Turkey Shoot, Razorback & Road Games. All brilliant films that are like hidden gems.
After years of trying to figure out what it was i saw as a kid where the people were all melting at the end, finally found this movie! Glad to see GBF had an entry on it!
GoodBadFlicks nah thank you man! I love watching ppl who are passionate about their topic that the show is based on. Your love of film and not to shabby comedic genius shows in your work. Not kissing your ass but I'm def here to tell you that YOU are TH-cam! You are what's gonna last in ten years while Jake Paul is long forgotten
Ah man. Demon goat satan priest. For a ridiculous idea he looked awesome. I love the 70's. It's when creativity ran wild. As soon as you said you were gonna review it i watched "halloween". I can't help but think Michael Myers whenever this movie is mentioned.
I really did not expect a pokemon reference lol, also reminds me of how in yugioh the egyptian items could capture souls. Great review always learn new pop trivia I never knew before. It's kind of sad that now days the rating organization has so much power back then people could be alot more creative and more people could see it.
It is said that the mold used to make William Shatner's eyeless face in Devil's Rain was later used to make the mask that was later to be used in Halloween. Not sure how true that is, but maybe.
I've been following this channel for quite some time, I don't know how I missed this vid... Very nicely done. I'd love to see some more exploring/review videos of other movies from the satanic panic era. The ultra sleazy Black Candles (1982) is an amazing piece of shit you should check out if you haven't already.
The last time I saw this was on TCM and all I remember was the melting of all the people! It is pretty unsettling watching this at 1am but it adds to the effect!
i have passion for old films . so i gave this one a go . for a 1970s movie a lot scared me with its ambience to the devil been shown up was kind of awesome but disturbing what freak me more was the ending all the people melting really really slowly and the sounds you hear from then is the stuff of nightmares . some people might think its to slow but i think it helps that suspense . what also scared me when i finish this movie i saw outside of my house was raining
Watching this all I keep thinking is Borgnine has an Oscar 6:35 & 7:28 Shatner and Captain Kirk became an international film sensation 6:44 and Skerittis a multi Emmy nominee/winner! Lmao!
This flick scared the heck out of me when I was a kid. All these devil movies.....uuuuu, they freaked me out. And Borgnine preaching as the Goat Demon - nightmares!
Nice touch with the Torgo theme, loved it...You give the best reviews of all reviewers on youtube. I uploaded a few more classic horror flicks on my channel, no doubt you already have them. But if theirs any on my channel you don't have and would like to, I'd be happy to burn you a copy and send it to you, plus I have over 150 martial arts flicks from you 80s and 90s..Movies with Don The Dragon Wilson, Cynthia Rothrock, Jeff Speakman etc. Any b-martial arts flick you want chances are I got it.
Sorry for keeping on dropping suggestions, but you haven't done Highlander II have you? I always kiiinda loved that movie. I mean I try not to consider it a sequel to Highlander, cause that's the only great movie in the franchise. But if you look at Highlander II as a stand alone movie it's one of those wonderful 80's-esque action flick. It's made 1991 but feels more like 1981. A bit of a Bladerunner rip off, but it's great fun to watch. Not to mention Sean Connery is superb in it. Also Lambert.
I was the Propmaster on Big Bad Momma , with Joan, Tom, and Shatner . In fact I think that’s where Tom met Joan . Did Crazy Momma also, Good times on those Momma films. Saw The Devils Rain and it’s one of the few films I’ve walked out on.
God I love this movie. I don't even remember how I first found out about it, but once I heard William Shatner and Ernest Borgnine were in it I had to watch it.
Any film that has 'The Shat' hamming it up for all it's worth must be well worth a watch!
I remember when my High School showed this movie in the Gymnasium.
Me and most of the kids thought it was a blast and it creep'd out most of the girls too.
I still like this movie today.
She has been on the list for ages. What a movie. Also, Programmed to Kill and Red Sonja.
Yes, Red Sonja! I can't believe they got Ennio Morricone to do the score. Dude must have wanted a new car. Or the producer took his family hostage.
I was rolling at "the haunting Torgo theme" at 0:50. Great use of that there.
haha I'm glad someone noticed that
immediately came to the comments looking for someone who noticed! haha
Same here.
Manors hands of shoes
I saw this movie back in '75. I was 8 years old. WOW what a ghastly, evil looking devil that Ernest Borgnine played. Very wicked looking! This movie is the stuff of nightmares! The evil church with the inverted pentagram, the ghastlyness of the whole movie was incredible!
Oh holy fuck. The bit about Corbin being 300 something years old, and how he did it. I so hoped you would use that clip.
Thanks! I've been trying to do a different animated intro for as many of the new eps as possible
I love how Cecil saves the fact the film's rated PG until the end. I was not expecting that, that twist almost hit me as hard as the Fight Club twist.
"So evil wins, Grandpa Borgnine?"
"That's right. Even your tiny soul is doomed, Billy."
I'm talking about...shaft. John shaft
First a TOOL reference now a DANZIG reference?!
You’re a channel after my own heart. ❤️
"Excuse me, do you have a moment to talk about Scientology .... ohhh geeeezzz"
Best
Line
Ever
I was sooo hoping you would mention the creepy Michael Myers mask similarity!
OH MY GOD! HE REALLY IS MICHAEL MYERS!!!!!!!!!!!
Damian Bartolacci I know the comments 3 years old, but I still have to respond. The reason for this is because this is where they took the cast of his face that became the Captain Kirk mask that they turned into the Michael Myers mask
2:30 Those Danzig lyrics had me tearing up it was so funny
Great episode and any episode that mentions Danzig is always gold in my book, I gotta watch this movie, been meaning to for years.
Omg, I can't believe you put his secret in there at 9:21. Funniest ever.
I got that reference to "Mother" by Danzig right away. Very good LOL
How anyone couldn’t is beyond me. Such a great song. Danzig is a fucking power house! With pipes of Damascus Steel
I was just about to comment this, damn it was a good reference 😂
DANZIG! These metal easter eggs are the best. Now I can't get the image of Danzig singing Mother the way that Shatner was whining for his mother.
Awesome! I was trying to work an Overkill reference into a recent episode (Evil Never Dies) It totally didn't work so I scrapped it.
Phibes was one of the scariest things I ever saw as a kid. I was obsessed with Vincent Price too!
Love your idea of the antichrist and use of Torgo's theme! Another fantastic video!
Dude, that was one of the funniest you've done. Thanks for the laugh.
“After hours of driving footage he makes it to town” had me laughing out loud.
Totally loved the Manos music when John is introduced at 0:50 secs. Hahahahahahaha.
Johnny McAuliffe :)
GoodBadFlicks I lOoK aFtER ThE HouSe WhiLE ThE MaSTeR iS aWaY
Any chance to get to see and hear Torgo...I'm there!
Was hoping for Joel to yell Do Something!
Good to see William Shatner has always had that amazing acting style.
That's the most adorable demon I've ever seen. Wonderful episode, with an intriguing choice of movie and great gags!
toonbat Thanks!
The pokemon bit came really late in the creative process. I'm glad it worked out, it made me laugh a lot. You should watch a movie called "This film is not yet rated". Its a doc about how corrupt the ratings board is.
Thanks! Yeah, the better part of my week goes into these.
Haha, love the Danzig reference... I bet not too many caught that. Shatner had retired from the Star Fleet so was doing these crazy movies, catch him in Go Ask Alice. the ABC made for TV movie from the same era.
frank marino thanks!
It's made all the better that Misfits did a song on this movie, even if it was Jerry Only era.
I caught the Danzig reference, cause I've always thought that "Mother" is one hell of a kick-ass metal tune!!
@@TheBlackKnight1o1 Every era of the Misfits is good. Each has its strong and weak points.
@@billwilliams2116 Agreed. I'm just saying it's funny that Jerry wrote a song called The Devil's Rain but Cecil made a Danzig reference
Totally dig you chose "Reigning Blood" for the end song! Hahahaha love it!!
Just 0:50 seconds into this review and there is already a reference to Manos! Thats how I know this will be another awesome review. ***** Worship now! Melt later!
I heard the music and I really thought it was Manos.
omg that football announcer voice part is so funny!! im dyin! hahah
Ah right! I gotta go back and watch all the Tremors movies, they are good times.
Thanks! I have Deep rising on the list. Very fun movie and Treat Williams was great.
3:39 is a huge reason why I subscribe to your channel my friend. Thanks for the post, great work, and keep it up!
13:29 I had a funny feeling you was going to use that LOL!
Awesome job once again I think I remember catching this the middle of this flick at a young age on tv it just creeped me out especially the ending and seeing what they did to Shatner's eyes too!

amazing production value on the animation. I tip my hat to you sir

After years of trying to figure out what it was i saw as a kid where the people were all melting at the end, finally found this movie! Glad to see GBF had an entry on it!

I'll check em out.
Great, informative review. Love this flick!
Sweet, sweet melting effects in that big ending scene!! Gotta love all that gloppy goo.
Saw this when I was 10 years old on TV. It scared me. Still remember Shatner's hollowed eyed face til now.
It is said that the mold used to make William Shatner's eyeless face in Devil's Rain was later used to make the mask that was later to be used in Halloween. Not sure how true that is, but maybe.
Holy shit! I saw this movie as a kid!!! Thanks for bringing it back from the depths for me lol
I've been following this channel for quite some time, I don't know how I missed this vid... Very nicely done.

Great video. One of my favourite online reviewers.
Feel free to keep the suggestions coming. I haven't seen Highlander 2 in ages, maybe I'll give it another go.
The last time I saw this was on TCM and all I remember was the melting of all the people! It is pretty unsettling watching this at 1am but it adds to the effect!
Lol I love this channel! Nice inclusion of "Dirty Work." "We eat da pig and together we burn!"
Another great vid. Looks like u put a lot of work and time into these vids. Nice one.
At some point I plan on doing a video to showcase my favorite movies. I think it will probably surprise most to see.
Solid Danzig reference.
Awesome, thank you!

I saw this movie when i was a little kid. Even then it was weird. Torgo theme was funny.
alex chalakee the torgo theme is like a virus, now its all I hear
Thanks!
Mermaid Man playing a satanic cultist, I still can't comprehend that.
RIP Ernest Borgnine. 😞
My favorite part of ghis movie is the entreating way Earnest Borgnein talks in the New Engkand flashback. Heronimus Bosch ROCKS!!
This flick scared the heck out of me when I was a kid. All these devil movies.....uuuuu, they freaked me out. And Borgnine preaching as the Goat Demon - nightmares!
Ha. Adam Sandler at 4:10. Very good.
J Wunder Thats Little Nicky ;)
King Skull it's from dirty work
We eat the pig and then together we burn!

Good review. Have you ever seen "Gargoyles"? (Not the Disney cartoon)
This movie really creeped me out when I was a kid.
Me too!
Cool review. Have you heard of "The Devonsville Terror?" I think that would be cool to see you review.
I had to use it! It was too perfect!
You'll enjoy it!
Nice touch with the Torgo theme, loved it...You give the best reviews of all reviewers on youtube.

3:40 mark *slow clap*.Very good.
Aaron Tonks :)
I saw this movie Spring 2004 when I was 17. I watched it on AMC when the channel would show horror films on Friday or Saturday night.
I see Skeritt learned a thing or two and made a deal with the Devil himself back in Kolchak: The Night Stalker.
I have a copy of that Hieronymus Bosch Triptych on my wall... love it...
thumbs up for the danzig reference alone
"I'm A God-Bieber Biography." 1:41. THAT is too funny

Can't always get to everyone. Sometimes I have to cut stuff for time. Don't worry, I have some other movies with him in them.
God I love this movie. I don't even remember how I first found out about it, but once I heard William Shatner and Ernest Borgnine were in it I had to watch it.
I read about it in Famous Monsters of Film land. Had to see it eventually.
