I loved this movie as a kid and I just found out from the comments that Larry Drake passed away. I'm so saddened by that. I was terrified of him as a youngster thanks to him as Dr Giggles and the villian in Darkman. R.i.p Larry Drake :(
Larry Drake is the whole reason I LOVE that movie, he's just so perfect in the role. Goddammit! Now I gotta look through my box of VHS for it.
He is the best! So underused.

Lee Penrose I’m in med school and in the neurology block right now. The school saved the brains from our anatomy class last year so we can study them during this block...they’re all in a bucket; just a bucket of brains. It’s...bizarre.
Every single review from the time of this movie didn't seem to realize that this was a comedy-horror. Alongside this and Leprechaun, wtf?
They were both advertised as straight horror, so I don't blame the reviewers. Dr. Giggles has silly one-liners in the trailer, but this was also right after Terminator 2 came out, and one-liners were everywhere.
Fwiw, horror-comedy wasn't the recognized genre that it was back then. Easy to see it now, but back then it was really a thing yet
The mid 90s was such a great time for good bad horror movies. This and Wishmaster are two of my faves from that time

That Mirror scene is impressive, It comes out of nowhere and every second of it is so damn good.
Seriously. While I think we have some good actors now it is definitely a dying art. We don't have guys of this level much anymore.

Not many male actors that can truly capture the "rough and weathered" persona of the old guys
Bone tomahawk was fantastic but that was a while ago and before that may be apaloosa or the true grit remake (i don't remember which came first)
It was cool. Definitely a movie that benefits watching in a group.
Larry Drake owns. I'd really enjoy him playing some more bad guys he is so darn good at it.

Watched it on TH-cam still a good after all these years I never knew Larry Drake passed away till a few years later he deserves some recognition great actor on the screen and from what I hear stage too RIP Larry
The actor that played Dr Giggles totally owned that role. Hugely underrated imo. I didnt even realize the body count was that high either. Gotta watch this movie again.

One of the best made for TV horror films.
Glad to find other people who really enjoyed this movie as well. What made it better, is the lack of trying to build a movie series. It was one complete story without some cut at the end showing him not to be dead.
Larry Drake is great in everything I have seen him in.
This is a great horror-comedy. I most remember Larry Drake's role of Benny on L.A. Law. After seeing him in Darkman as Durant (a similar character to Dr. Giggles), which is also an excellent movie, I became a fan of his. Great review!
This movie is perfect because of Larry Drake. I loved the one-liners and doctor jokes. The gore makes me squeamish and this movie also plays to my own fears of doctors and hospitals. If it weren't for the humor, I probably wouldn't ever watch it again because I'd find it too disturbing.
Great cast all around, even in the smaller roles like Doug E. Doug, Cliff De Young and Richard Bradford.
I saw this movie early own as a child, I began to laugh like Dr. Giggles, in fact my laughter became infectious to the point people kept trying to make me laugh so they could laugh. As I grew up I grew away from it, though I still do it sometimes to freak people out who don't know me.
This is one of the best underrated slasher films out there. It really deserves more recognition.
I'll admit this scared me as a kid back when it came out in the early 90s. I still enjoy it but of course I now understand the humor. :) It's sad this film is almost forgotten.
I was working at the Sears in Washington Square mall in Tigard Oregon when this movie was being filmed and sold them the green paint that was painted on the walls in the " Doctors Office " scenes.They filmed them at a closed Doctors office some where in Beaverton.
Dude! How could you leave out the actor who played Max? He found success on "Angel" and "Roseanne" before tragically passing away way too early. His character's departure from "Angel" is practically everyone's favorite episode. Proved so popular that the episode (Hero) is one of the only ones fans know by name.

I remember sneaking out of bed to watch this on tv when I was like 7 or 8 years old. Up until I saw this video I never knew what it was called. I'm definitely going to watch it again! Thank you!
I saw this heavily cut in the late 90's, only saw the uncensored version a few months ago, now i really want it on dvd.
The humour is sick, the characters are fun, especially the doc and the gore is plenty, the 90's might have not been the best decade for horror but there where sure some awesome pearls.
Larry Drake was so good in this one, and the first 2 Darkman movies. Love 'em!

This was my favorite movie when I was a kid. I was Dr. Giggles for Halloween I had to explain what I was the entire night. Worth it.

I loved Larry Drake in this movie and Dark Night Of The Scarecrow.I think American Pie took their sexy flute bit from the scene with the saxophone.If Giggles is a scary homicidal doctor,imagine what he'd be like as a legally licensed one.He'd have people waiting longer than they typically do in waiting rooms filling even more useless paperwork.
he even said he liked playing bad guys because they usually had the more interesting role. We don't get actors of his calibur much anymore

Robocop is one of my all time favorite movies. Its in my top 10. I'd like to do it but I don't know if I could even goof on it. Its too good.
Larry Drake would have made an AMAZING Professor Pyg in a Batman film. May he rest in peace, he clearly had fun playing villains.

holy shit, that's quite a slasher movie for the guy who played Robert G. Durant on Darkman 1 & 2, another movie i'll have to check this halloween.
I don’t like horror films but I love Larry Drake. He was sorely underused in the field of film. Such a shame he passed away.

This is by far one of my favorite horror comedies the actor was perfect .

You aren't going crazy. I did do this back in march but due to YT restrictions (it was over 15 minutes) I couldn't post it here. Dr. Giggles actually premiered as a short story in the anthology comic Dark Horse Presents
I feel this is one of the best horror films of its time, and it was sorely needed it that era due to the genre going through a dry spell. Props for this review mentioning "Dexter", which is one of my favorite shows of all time (Miami Vice" and "Batman: The Animated Series" round out the top three, with "The Simpsons" not far behind).
Oh man, how did I completely forget about this movie!? The fact that I have most of these movies on VHS, and haven't got them on DVD yet, means I have boxes of VHS tapes in storage with titles I have quickly forgotten until I see videos like this and slap my forehead.

Freaking awesome. I remember my mom had it on VHS. I used to sneak in to her room and pick out a few. "Zombie hotel", "Hellraiser 3" and "Dr Giggles" are what i remember as the first horror movies i took out from her closet. To this day i enjoy this movie. I loved Holly since "Charmed". Larry Drake is always awesome(really loved him in "Darkman"). Glenn Quinn(RIP) i absolutely adore. Been following him since he was in "Roseanne". Would love it, if you'd review "Campfire tales".

Great review on one of my all time fave slashers..Larry Drake is fantastic. And the film is loads of fun. I love it so much I not only own it on DVD, but on Laserdisc, and VHS. I also have the comic book by Dark Horse..
