Watched this so many times in high school. Sherilyn Fenn swimming scene, futuristic car, the characters "Skank" and "Gutterboy," Ronny Howard's brother, Sheriff Randy Quaid, and lots of ghostly revenge. Loved it! Still love it
Indeed! I watched it back in the days some night on free-tv but never had a chance to see it again afterwards. Now, almost 20 years later I watched it again (thanks to streaming!) and I still think it's a great movie!
I was quite late to this, caught it one night in the summer of 2002, I'd just turned 16 and thought it was the coolest film ever, perfect soundtrack, action and revenge fantasy. Became one of my favourites when I located the dvd and later on the blu ray. An easy watch with lots of replay value.
I love how Jake gives his brother a one-of-a-kind car that was used in three vehicular homicides. I wonder how long it took for Billy to get arrested on suspicion of murder.
Michael Reeves I was thinking that, too. Also, going off into the sunset with Sherilynn, but can't spend mre than 5 minutes with his own brother to let him know anything.
Wore out my VHS...just watched it a couple of weeks ago in the garage while working on my car. Next day at work I said I watched the best 1980s Dodge commercial ever and everyone over 30 said, The Wraith!
Finally saw this movie for the first time tonight and it was a lot of fun! Also agree on the soundtrack there's even a scene with Billy Idol's Rebel Yell playing which is one of my favorites from the 80s, Good stuff.
The Wraith is my all time favorite movie! I can watch it over n over n it never gets old. Wen i was 13 or 14, i had 3 vhs tapes (yeah, im that old lol) with the wraith on them just so i could watch it over n over without havin to wait for it to rewind. Now ive got it on dvd. DODGE M4S Turbo. Only four were made. There was one for sale on TH-cam back in 2012. The guy wanted $200,000. That's nothing for such a rare car!!!!!!!!!!!
Been watching this since I was 4 years old. Had it recorded off HBO on a VHS tape that also had The Boy Who Could Fly and Halloween 4. This was the movie that got me into cars and hair metal. The Dodge M4S is still my favorite movie car of all time. Now im 38 and I share this movie at least once a year with my son. Miss movies like these. Real stunt drivers, real cars, on real locations with real stunts.
reminds me of the time Chevy almost made a twin turbo midengine car like that back in the early 90's I think, it's sad how many amazing cars and trucks never make it to production and Chevy is the worst at it, Chrysler seems good at producing theirs though, they got balls
A true cult-film indeed. I was about 7 or so when I first watched it at a friend's house. Not knowing the title of it (neither the English or the Norwegian), we just referred to it as "the black car". The chases were reenacted dozens of times when we played. I actually have the movie on DVD and VHS. LOVE the soundtrack. Thanks for the review, brought back memories. And yes... it IS a good bad flick. :)
Tim Feehan wrote and performed the song "Where's The Fire" which is on the soundtrack of this movie. Tim Feehan was born here in Edmonton,Alberta,Canada but he had already moved to Los Angeles by the time this movie was released.
I like this movie, I watched it for the first time in 1990 on VHS, later in television, and I acquired a digital copy in 2019 and I watch it every year.
Awesome review! This is one of my 80's "go-to" films when I need a nostalgic fix. I remember seeing the trailer back in '87 when it came out on Pay Per View and became fascinated with it. Of course after seeing it back then, I was immediately hooked. It's got all the ingredients of a great 80's flick! Thanks for paying homage to The Wraith! All hail Charlie Sheen!
