It's important to note that not all Champions are made with tops that unscrew. Many have a one piece unit that will snap if you try and unscrew it, but for those that can be unscrewed this is a great hack.
To find them in stores you need to ask for racing plugs. Its best to double check online if the racing plug doest have resistance. (Cause in store they won't know). While you're online match up the plug thread, the depth, the seal, the center electrode hight and if space is limited match the socket size of the plug.
I now take my multimeter into the parts store and measure resistance even with standard plugs! It's amazing how many are completely different in resistance to the rest. Always one! ❤
Its important to note resistor sparkplugs greatly reduce the RF Electromagnnetic noise your ignition system makes thats why they created them in the first place , Modern cars with tons of wiring to there the diffrent sensors on the engine stand a good chance of this strong ignition system RF noise being picked up by the computers wiring and causing all kinds of noisy garbage data issues.. so that is something to think about..
and then theres the issue of CDI producing an extremely short duration spark... the old induction coil on points is fine, but they had serious issues with the first CDI units failing to ignite. sparks plenty powerful, but so brief it doesnt get a chance to light anything... whereas throwing in the resistance reduces the current through the arc and extends spark duration just enough to ensure reliable ignition... and not having any resistance can fry certain CDI units. i used to think the less resistance the better too, but then i learnt some electrical engineering theory... lets not forget that the gap has a resistance in the order of megohms until ionisation takes place, either...

Nada...that is mitigated by your suppressor wires, which has the majority of the ohms resistance...NOT the plug. Only magneto style ignitions benefit from NO suppressoion wires of the spark.

I ran zero resistor Granatelli wires and found some non-resistor plugs but it freaks out the komputer in some ways similiar to attempting to kalibrate the TPS that if too low a setting I get a flashing AT Temp light and strange motor running.
I have a 2002 Subaru Outback 2.5L manual trans. I use the same Granetelli plug wires. I installed Pulstar spark plugs too. The computer didn't like it at all. Go with resistor plugs it will be OK. If yours is like mine, this coil pack is a waste spark design, which is why I think the non resistor plugs don't work well in this application.
NICE VIDEO, but... "First thing you do", as you say, should be: try to loosen the end of the plug, gently, with the pliers (or by hand)...sometimes they are thst loose!
Personally, there are better ways to reduce static on your radio. Put a capacitor from the power lead to ground. This won't drain the power to your plugs, either!

A good question to ask why they put in a resistor. Actually several reason. Interference to other equipment, plug life and performance. Although excessive resistance can reduce performance, zero resistance may not be ideal as well. The resistor's biggest job is to help provide a sharp, clean 'pulse' type spark. If the spark 'dribbles' across the gap in the beginning, it doesn't light the fuel/air charge properly. For aviation the recommended resistance value is 500-5000 ohms. For other uses such as automotive the values may be different. I have checked new automotive plugs and found 10K ohms and sometimes higher.
used to work on older MB s for decades , then one year the non resistor plugs went away , just available from dealer [ bosch plugs ] .So now only fr om my wholesaler you get the R plugs , resistor . So now using those plugs on all the cars , i noticed zero difference . Cars ran same . Same with platinum plugs . Would like to have Bosch opinion on that issue .

The FCC will want to have a word with you, the RF noise your vehicle will be throwing will not only mess with your radio but also your computer, cell phone, gps and those of the vehicles around you. Also this will cause your coil packs to run hot and burnout quickly.
I ran my 1995 Monte Carlo for 7 years doing this, there is no interference even with the radio or my phone signal. I’m honestly unsure what it could interfere with because it never had any problems from running that way.
@@thomasgronek6469 its very simple. an arc, spark, ionised gas has a very low resistance, and theres nothing limiting the CURRENT through the ignition system as it releases the energy stored either in the magnetic field when using induction type coils, or in the electrostatic field of the capacitor in CDI units. you get a very short, and very powerful arc that burns plug electrodes, and induces massive magnetic fields around the leads, and then the arc itself is no longer "damped" adequately, and tends to "ring". now you have massive currents that persist for longer than designed for... until you delve into electrical theory, it doesnt make any sense. once you understand what the "dI/dT" means, it does. or ohms law. a short circuit, or low resistance manifests as CURRENT. a high resistance manifests as VOLTAGE.

you don't need to removed the resistor find a similar model a none resistor plug
Easier said than done - many spark plugs are no longer available as non-resistor.

Why do they make resistance plugs in the first place, is it to cause less static in the radio??

It’s there for a reason. Lower resistance thru plugs and wires can cause radio interference.

The heat range is not regulated by the spark, it has to do with the length of the insulator.

Resistance was used to quell spark noise on radios in the auto. A cap was used on the alternator for that wine..

It will definitely wear out the coil pack and spark plug much faster but not over night. the performance and gas savings you get out are worth it.
