    Thanks! The dentist really should have taken the time to explain this. But I guess that's what you get when you have Medicaid. You don't get treated the same as those on employer based insurances. Appreciate you taking the time and helping us out!

    Thank you! My dentist explained when to use it, to not rinse and not eat/drink afterwards, but I realized after my appt that she didn’t tell me that it serves as a supplement and not a true replacement for toothpaste. I was confused on where mouthwash fits into the equation since I’m not supposed to rinse and that would’ve felt counterproductive lol, so again, thanks!

      Just rinse with water before you use the prescription toothpaste.
      Personally, I prefer Enamelon gel and you can get it without a prescription. If you are prone to cavities, it's worth looking into . It's definitely cheaper than a filling.

    What's the proper way to spit it out? Because I usually just spit as much as I can in the sink (like 10 times) to a point where I feel like if I swallow randomly when I go to bed, I won't be swallowing any of the flouride paste.

    • @DentalDork
      @DentalDork  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I wouldn't say there is a proper way. Whatever you feel comfortable with. 1 time or 10 times would be fine either way. I usually only spit once. I want as much product to remain on there for as long as possible. -Crissy

    Hi, I have Duraphat 5000 ppm from Colgate and the instructions and my dentist say it's a toothpaste and to use it as such, and not in conjunction with another toothpaste as you stated, does this sound correct?
    Also, the instructions say a 2cm ribbon, but the hole on the tube is much smaller than a normal toothpaste, so is the correct amount literally one skinny line of it, the length of my manual toothbrush (about 2cm) or does it mean 2cm long but still the 'fatness' of a normal line of toothpaste? I don't want to use too little or too much! Thanks in advance.

    • @DentalDork

    Is this good for applying to the gums or just the teeth? I wondered if I should brush my tongue with it.

    I am a dentist but even I am confused cause I myself have pit and fissure discoloration in half of my posteriors overall.
    So am I supposed to use 5000ppm or 1000ppm fluoride???

    • @DentalDork
      @DentalDork  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could it just be stain? Doesn’t necessarily mean decay or demineralization.

    Why don’t dentists recommend this/prescribe this? I just found out about it from a new dentist who said I get cavities easily and should be on it. When I told her I didn’t even know there was such a thing, she said dentists don’t like to tell their patients about it?????

      Some might argue it is, but I don’t believe it is, in that small of an amount. Too much sun isn’t good for you, but not enough sun is also unhealthy!
