- Kuala Lumpur - Hot and humid year round! We found 5 of the best things to do in Kuala Lumpur to escape the heat and humidity. These top attractions in Kuala Lumpur will keep you amused, entertained and cool! There are so many things to do in the amazing capital city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. But even the best of us need a break from the heat and humidity of this rainforest climate of KL! We scoped out many different attractions in Kuala Lumpur and we think that we can help guide you to make the most of your time in KL, while getting a break from the heat.
We venture out on the Hop On Hop Off bus and over two mornings (on one 24 hr ticket), we see most of the top attractions in KL. We could have hopped off at any of these stops, but we were on a mission to check out the things that we wanted to come back to see more of!
We hit up the Aquarium in KL - air conditioned and family friendly, it is a great way to spend a few hours in the heart of Kuala Lumpur!
We show you the shopping mall scene in this city, which blew us away! This city must rival NYC for amazing malls that offer way more than shopping and food courts!
We also hit up the touristy Jalon Alor - food Street/Night Market, sample some local dishes and get caught up in the amazing night vibe of this street full of restaurants and hawker stalls! We now see why Kuala Lumpur has such a vibrant nightlife - it is so much cooler once the sun goes down!!
Finally, we talk about the museums and the towers in Kuala Lumpur, because these are all amazing sights to visit to get out of the humidity and into the air conditioning!
We hope you enjoy today's video that we made over several days - because honestly, we had to pace ourselves in KL. That heat and humidity is no joke!! Cheers!! 🥂

Great video you two should have your own TV show!!
LOL!!
Yea, hop on hop off bus. Did it there too and loved it.
It has so many stops!! It's great!
Walkways are so nice there.
They are a life saver! Makes walking so much more enjoyable!
Great eating street. Lived so close to it when I was there. Awesome food 🎉
We lived close to it as well. There were other great eating streets, but not as easy for us to walk to.
If you are ok having dinner without alcohol, I suggest you to try eating Malaysian food at Kampong Baru. Just cross the Saloma bridge next to the Petronas tower.
Oh yes! We had some lovely satay and Nasi Lemak at Kampong Baru!! Delicious food and a lovely, lively street! Wish we lived closer to it and we would have gone more!
@@mitchandjan yes, I saw your video eating at Kampong Baru after I watched this one.
Thank you for this lovely video. Hope that you guys have had a good time and a pleasant stay.
Thank you so much! We had an amazing stay in KL!
@@mitchandjan Wonderful. 😀
Stay cool.....Thanks for taking us with you!!!.....Well done!!!
You are most welcome. Thank you for coming along!! Cheers!🥂
The musuem was cute
Well, cute, but not worth the money LOL. Let us save you the time and money! LOL. (Not a true "museum", more of a fun house of illusions)
you should try hop on hop off at night
kl at night is a total different experience
We sooooo wanted to do the night bus and ran out of time!! Agreed, the night bus would be spectacular!! KL is all about the night life (not perfect for us, who like to go to bed early! LOL)
Jalan Alor night market is known for the place where tourists got ripped with ridiculously overprice street food.
These are the actual local prices which can be found at any local restaurants or pasar malam in KL:
1. Satay - only RM1 (chicken) or RM1.50 (beef) per stick.
2. Mee Goreng (fried noodles) around RM5 or RM6 per plate with chicken.
Yes, Jalon Alor is definitely touristy! We did find better prices in local spots! The prices you have listed area great reference for others travelling to KL. Thank you!!
Hop on hop off is good for a general tour of the city so that you can revisit the more interesting sites later.
That was exactly our plan. To scope out the city! It was that tour that solidified our plan to go back to the bird park. We wish that we had more time as we would have like to explore more of the botanical gardens!
Jalan alor is pricey but quite good quality.
We were recommended a different restaurant, but it was closed the entire month (maybe longer?). It is pricier, but still so much more affordable than we are used to in Canada! And delicious!!
@mitchandjan if it is closed for a month that means ramadhan fasting month perhaps
We were actually there leading up to Ramadhan and for the first weeks of Ramadhan and they were closed even before! Maybe just a holiday for themselves.
Malaysia has the second largest mall in the world 101 putrajaya
Oh wow! That doesn't surprise us! KL may have the most amount of malls in the world in one city! LOL
Omg. The Janet hair! 😂😂😂❤
Can you believe I have lasted this entire 5 months with one scrunchie, one elastic and one hair clip?! But they are often left behind. LOL! Also - wow that humidity!!
I have been watching.! lol. Your hair is legendary! 😂
@@traceymckelvie6202 the hair wants its own show I think!! 😂😂😂
Hi from 🇦🇺🤩
Hello 😊
The peanut sauce is not thick enough for the satay. Suppose to stick on the satay.
Agreed. We loved it when we found thick satay sauce!!!
@@mitchandjan satay kajang is the best
Looks like a great place. Do you have a sister named Kim?
LOL - neither of us have a sister named Kim!
@@mitchandjan Ok thanks was just wondering . Do you think it would be worth it for us at 71 to move to Thailand or maybe just for six month cause we would have to give up our Ohip.
@@sallylee6934 everyone is different and we definitely suggest doing your research and taking a longer term trip (at least a few months) to get a feel for somewhere before making that decision. There are so many factors to consider for relocating.
Lion fish is venomous. Piranha better not get into our rivers.
That would be awful to have piranha in your rivers.
It is hot and humid but it is a megadiverse country for bio diversity.
Absolutely! We can't wait to explore more of this country...maybe Borneo? 😀
@@mitchandjan absolutely borneo. The amazon of asia. The orangutan is the only great ape of asia.
Yes, we would love to see orangutans and that beautiful rainforest!
@mitchandjan actually people do not need to go to borneo to see orangutan. There is another sanctuary at taiping called bukit merah. The orangutans are free to roam, we humans walk through the cages to protect us.
@@keangwooichoo6138 We love to hear that! We are the ones that should be in cages! LOL. Borneo must be an amazing place for all of the biodiversity of plants and animals!!
Some people complained about the 'audio' problem on the bus. Not sure if they fixed it.
It does depend which bus that you get (and likely where you sit). The bus on the second day had MUCH better audio than our first bus, where we didn't hear much at all, unfortunately.
