  • Kuala Lumpur surprised us as a huge city with very low travel cost! We break down our costs to travel and stay in Kuala Lumpur, including an Airbnb Tour! Travel Costs include our accommodation, food, entertainment and everything for the month in Kuala Lumpur!! Compared to other major cities in the world, Kuala Lumpur is extremely low cost! There is every range of accommodation from basic to lavish luxury available in KL and it cost less in this city!
    We give you a tour of our mid-range Airbnb that offered so much value for the price that we paid. We had gorgeous swimming pools, a fantastic view of the city and a shopping mall at the base of our building, where we did our grocery shopping and enjoyed some restaurants.
    Kuala Lumpur surprised us for being so metropolitan, modern and clean, while still being so low cost! Food quality and price was excellent whether eating out or cooking in your apartment. We found that even the "high cost" tourist food places were much more affordable than restaurants at home would be. So you really cannot go wrong!!
    We hope that you enjoy this video, that it helps you if you are planning a trip to Kualal Lumpur or maybe considering a move to KL! Cheers! 🥂

    I guess you can get off your airplane and jump right on a monorail. Why would you do that instead of a grab or a taxi? Did you pull in to KL in the middle of the night?

    • @mitchandjan

      We believe that was a possibility. We generally choose to take a grab or uber on arrival in a new city for simplicity after a travel day and ease of locating our Airbnb. We build it into our budget now after a few semi-failed/exhausting attempts with public transit with our luggage in tow. It's just our preference 😊. Thanks for watching!! Cheers 🥂

      We left the link to our Airbnb in our "description" section of the video. Not a hotel at all. A condo/apartment complex.

    All this cost is subdued a bit by low salary, low interest rate, low petrol prices.
    But soon the gov will increase fuel prices and use the money to assist low income people. Low fuel prices benefitted rich folks now.

    Cooking? Its cheaper to eat out

    • @mitchandjan

      LOL!! It was equally as cheap to eat out! But Jan enjoys cooking and we could get a bit more veggies in our diet by cooking in sometimes.

    • @mitchandjan

      Also, respectfully, it was even cheaper to eat in. Fresh butcher chicken breasts, rice and bok choy for two people is less than $5 CAD for both meals. Healthy and so affordable!

    where is the low cost+these are US prices. In SEA it shall be one fifth of that.

    • @mitchandjan

      For us, coming from North America, these are very low prices. We are coming from Canada, so we converted all prices to Canadian and US. SE Asia CAN be very cheap, depending on how you want to live. We have travelled Vietnam, Malaysia and now Thailand. We operate on a mid-range budget. One could spend a lot more or a lot less.

    • @mitchandjan

      We did not tip much - we tried. It is hard to explain how it feels not to tip, coming from a large tipping culture. But also trying to be respectful. 🙏🏼

    • @keangwooichoo6138

      @al16899 looks like you do not understand the scenario. If tipping is a culture, every local will pay 20 ringgit for a roti. Which one you one? Cheaper right? So stop tipping. Ask enoloyer to pay basic salary higher than rm 1500.

    Just be fully transparent with your viewers. That building at Lalaport is known for problem with its drainage system. Cheaply built. It stinks. Smell of sewerage that is impossible to get rid of. So just live with it. And not an isolated thing in KL. Just saying - cheap but can be nasty

    • @mitchandjan

      We experienced no bad smells in that building at all and have been fully transparent. If you watch some of our other videos, you would see that we talk about the good and the bad airbnb experiences! We left an airbnb in Spain for its awful sewage smell, so we are happy that we didn't experience that here.
