Ed “Too Tall” Jones was the man who in the second half of big games, especially in the post season, just cranked things up in another gear. And once he got going, Randy White and Harvey Martin also put things into another gear. Jones was the catalyst and never quite got the recognition he deserved, but if you were to watch those games, he was more important than Randy White, and once he got going, White became unstoppable. They were one reason why Staubach was able to make so many memorable comebacks in games. And as a fan growing up and watching, they were fun to watch! Jones deserves to be in the hall of fame, but due to the inability of sports’ writers who never played the game in their lives, it is the intangibles that do not always show up in the box scores. How many passes and blocked field goals did he have? How many times did he deflect a pass that turned into an interception? And how often did quarterbacks have to throw over Jones, unable to see that linebacker in the flats make an easy interception?
Very good comment except Randy White never needed anything to _"get him going."_ And I FULLY agree that Ed Jones should be in Canton!!! Several years ago when I heard some announcer say that on TV I thought I heard him wrong. I was absolutely positive that Ed Jones was already in the Hall and *it's a pure travesty that he is not!!*
Too tall never got the accolades he truly deserved he was a great player on an outstanding team for many years. And I forgot that he was the 1st pic of the draft too. If Tony Boselli could make it into the hall of fame for being very good for like 4 years Ed Too Tall Jones should make it into the hall of fame for being very good for well more than a decade.
It deeply disturbs me that both Too Tall and Harvey Martin are not in the Cowboys Ring Of Honor but Charles Haley is. No disrespect to what Haley did for those 90's teams but he only played 5 seasons for Dallas. C'mon now!
@@petergarcia589 Too Tall Jones is probably the unofficial NFL career leader in passes defended. I think he's officially around #5 all-time, and they didn't count his first 7 years. Harvey Martin is unofficially #2 on the NFL all-time sack leader and #1 single season sack leader.
Not sure what that was about. More of a push than a violent impact. Maybe he suffered a concussion from his head striking the ground. Then again, maybe that’s how his day had been and he’d just had enough.

NFL needs to just ask the player sign a release that says there’s a possibility you may end up with a long-term head entry or any injury because of what you’re doing and you acknowledge you’re getting paid really well for generational wealth. If it’s too much, can’t handle it, don’t sign the contract. now it’s time to play real football. Who else misses a real kick off return?
