Part of the reason it's hard to tell if the bezel is aligned is because of the trapezoid at 12 vs the triangle on the Submariner & Black Bay. The tip of the triangle gives your eye a visual reference to align on, whereas the Monta's flat trapezoid base/lack of a centered point makes it really hard on your eyes.
I sold my Tudor pelagos to fund the OCEANKING. Why? Had too many quality issues with the Tudor. Lume falling out of bezel insert, bezel jamming. So far, the Monta is twice the watch for half the price. Yep, you can call me a Monta fanboy
I too am a Monta fanboy but they are not without some quality issues as well. I'm not sure if I talked about it on another video but I did order the turquoise noble that had some issues with the hand stack it was stopping often but they did fix it with no issues after that. Great customer service!
@@HawaiianHorologyI've heard similar stories with current models of Submariner and Seamaster. It can happen to all brands. Monta's after-sales service has a great reputation but I hope I never have to speak with them! Meanwhile, I'm very impressed with my Oceanking v3.
I have a Sub and a BB Monochrome and I can say that my Oceanking v3 is very close in terms of quality and first for comfort. It completely surpasses the Seiko, Oris, Longines and TAG that I have had.
@@maitrehgI've owned several Rolexes for over 25 years and have never had any quality issues. Same with Omega but more like 15 years from them. From first hand experience, I can tell you that it all comes down to frequency. While yes, all brands can be susceptible to anything, it is the frequency at which any watch out of any sample size that has a QA issue is what matters. In this case, I would bet any money that out of every 100 watches, there is a far greater likelihood for there to be quality issues with Monta over Omega or Rolex. It's very simple. It comes down to the financial backing that these companies are able to back their QA process with and the in depth amount of QA that these companies are financially able to back over a small team like Monta. Rolex and Omega both also have another massive advantage over Monta as it pertains to this topic; years of refinement with their QA processes. The funding, infrastructure, QA process, tooling, etc. is just not comparable..
I have this watch. I disagree with you regarding price and value. I would like to point out that I own or have owned several diver watches: Rolex Sub, Tudor BB Monochrome, Seiko MM300, Oris Aquis and Diver 65, Longines HydroConquest. Quality-wise, this Monta is just behind Rolex and Tudor. The Seiko has a better case finish but the Monta's bracelet is infinitely better. The Oris and Longines are no match. In terms of comfort, the Monta is clearly first. So I find the price quite reasonable. Exceptional comfort and very high quality.
Great point I do agree that the Monta is a very well made watch I just would like the price to be a little lower. That being said I am still a huge fan of them and wish them the best in the future and I will be getting more of their models in the future!
@@HawaiianHorology @maitrehg I can buy a used black bay 58 for $2,500-2,700... Which do you think is a better way to spend my money. New Monta OK or second hand Tudor BB58?
Great question but a very tough one to answer! After some thought I would go with the MONTA but I would go for it second hand. They do pop up from time to time for around 1800-1900 and save some money!
Not easy ! I would say that if the Tudor is in excellent condition, it would be my choice. I love Monta but I will always take a Rolex first, a Tudor second and a Monta third.
true I think as a brand they're doing some things that they said they didn't want to do in the past but I guess they feel the need to do certain things to survive and grow as a brand

The Monta is going for $1500 - 1600 used. At that point it's worth it IMO.
amazing value at that price

That makes sense I know there was a reason I just could put my finger on it thanks!

well said!
The lume pip inside of the triangle on the basil insert is not aligned. It’s slightly to the left of the triangle that’s why it looks off.
After another look I can't really tell I'll look again in the morning with fresh eyes

Tried tagging you in my comment below. Not sure it worked

$4,000 in my country. That’s why I haven’t ordered one. I like It but not at that price.
is that due to shipping and tax?
Lol. looks more like a ginault. I'm a fan of this brand but they sure moved closer to Rolex when they said they wouldn't in 2019
