On Chris Rupp (Adam's brother and founder on the group) there is a series call the history of Homefree. That explains everything from the begin days of Homefree
This WAS filmed in the Austrian Alps where "The Sound of Music" was filmed! So you hit the nail on the head! No other a cappella group has the "IT" factor that Home Free has! Their sound, their harmonies, their beat boxer, their arrangements are shear perfection! Before you do "Mayday", you need to be more familiar with the guys, know their names & the parts they play because "Mayday" has some surprises! One of their originals I think you'd like is "Catch Me If You Can". Also, "Ain't Going Down (Til the Sun Comes Up)" which is only on their Facebook page (NOT released on youtube) due to some issues from Garth Brooks' people, BUT you can show it on youtube. It'll set your hair on fire! 🔥😊
@@GOTGames Darren Rust is their main arranger. With exception to few. He is referred to as the 6th member of Home Free. He is in several videos. A favorite is "Grandma got run over by a reindeer". It's hilarious & so good🥰🥰
Wow. I grew up singing this song in church. One of my favs. They take it to a new heavenly level. I hope Jesus asks them to sing in heaven! "It is Well", my dad's favorite hymn, embedded in this cover. Beautifully added in.
This is even better in person. There is a version on youtube that was when a concert was canceled as a local storm took out the power, yet Home Free loves their fans so much that they went out to them and sang it WITHOUT MICS and it's *BREATHTAKING* to hear it that way. How many bands will do that for their fans ??? This was filmed in Austria and only about a 30-minute drive from where the opening of the Sound of Music was filmed. The setting befitts the music. You should also hear them in Helplessly Hoping and Brother in Arms....that would be their artistic side and they are *SPECTACULAR*
This is the title of that video, search for this because sometimes comments with links don't appear. "Home Free Kearney, MO How Great Thou Art 6.17.2017 Complete Recording"

They filmed the video in Austria, where the movie "The Sound of Music" was filmed. You were right on the money about the location. Goose bumps sums up the reaction to Home Free's version of this iconic song. Thank You so much, wonderful reaction. Love the "organ sound" at the end.
I highly recommend Home Free,Lee Greenwood,&the U.S. Air Force singing God Bless the USA if you love harmonies that much..they all did an AMAZING job!!! Its beautiful and well done. Thank you for your great reaction.🙂✌
For great 5 part harmonies like this one...Helplessly Hoping and their masterpiece Brothers in Arms are the best. Also, would love to see you react to Avi Kaplan's solo work, his new album just dropped and has some amazing work and his older stuff is no less stellar. Avi is magical and you won't be disappointed
This is what Home Free does. They politely knock on the door of your heart and once you've invited them in, you don't ever want them to leave. They can sing so many different genres and styles and EVERY THING sounds wonderful. This is so beautiful, it makes your heart hurt in that good way when you feel your heart overflowing from the beauty. This is a masterwork. Love this beautiful song and love Home Free. You were spot on, it was filmed in the Swiss Alps. Great reaction. Your eyes said it all. Adam Rupp and his brother Chris formed Home Free back in 2000 when they were in college. There have been several members who have fallen out along the way. Rob joined, then I can't remember which order but Austin and Tim came in. Chance came in when Adam's brother Chris left to do solo work. There are videos on Chris Rupp's You Tube page telling the history of Home Free and they are very interesting. They didn't just become overnight successes. A lot of persistence and hard work has put them where they are now.
I think this is one of the best versions of this song. Tim's bass really carries the song. I just found Home Free last year & love these 5 talented guys. And the scenery is awesome filmed in the beautiful Austrian Alps (my dad comes from that area).
Take a look at the first edition of the Sing Off series that they won. They talk about the start of the group. Percussionist Adam Rupp and his brother Chris started the band in college. Over time others have changed. Then the line up that won the Sing Off only changed when Chris Rupp went solo and they got Adam Chance. I think Austin stalked them when in another band on cruise ships with them. He talks about it on a live 'Bass solo' in concert video of Little Red Riding Hood
I think this is one of the most beautiful covers of Home Free. Also, I have heard this song many times because I come from a very Christian family and I can say that this version touches me the most. Probably also because of the beautiful area in Austria where this was recorded. I showed this song to my mother (84) a few months ago and it also touched her very much that she herself suggested it in her church to show it there. It is so wonderfully sung with all those beautiful, but also different voices. You not only hear it, but you feel it.
I think you should do more first time reactions to Home Free because they have a lot of other videos that I think you will love such as brothers in arms and I will forewarn you that you will want to have tissues on hand for it because of the message behind the song
This sir is one of there best ever!!!! There harmonies are just off the chart. First time you get to hear Adam rupp sing also. And The bass from Adam Chance and Tim, just resonates through your chest.
You were spot on when you mentioned the sound of music. This video was shot in the Austrian Alps!! Be sure to watch Patreon is the making of this video by Home Free. In one of the scenes Tim Foust spins around like Julie Andrews did in the sound of music. He’s so funny! The Rupp brothers Chris and Adam started this group along with three others. Chris left the group around 2015 to pursue his own music 🎶 career. Adam chance to Chris’s place… In this matchup of two beautiful hymns Adam rub the beat boxer sings. He’s the one singing it is well in the middle. To learn about HF Listen to their performances on The Sing Off a cappella competition in 2013 which they won!! Looking forward to your next home free reaction!!
Adam Rupp the beatboxer and his brother started the group in Mankato Minnesota. Chris Rupp is in some of the videos but he left the group he has his own channel. Rob Lunquist was a bartender in Minnesota when he joined the group. Tim answered an add and Austin joined them when they met on a cruise ship. Adam Chance “chance” joined after Chris left.
Check out "Blue Ain't Your Color", "Crazy" "Champagne Taste". This was filmed in the same area at The Sound of Music. Adam Rupp and his brother, Chris, who was with the group for awhile, started this group. They and Rob are from Minnesota. Tim is from Texas, Adam Chance is from California via Alabama and Austin is from Georgia.
This was filmed in the Austrian Alps and the harmonies they use are very appropriate for the surroundings. This is, in a word, a masterpiece. If you want to learn more about Home Free, they have a 5 part series explaining how they came to be and how they came to be together. It is amazing that Home Free has been around for more than 20 years. The only remaining original member is Adam Rupp the beat boxer. He, his brother Chris, and a few friends started the group and the history of Home Free explains how they came to be who and what they are.
This was my introduction to Home Free ... and I've been hooked ever since ! Elvis's version thrills me but Home Free's rendition soothes my soul ... such talent !
This song definitely makes me emotional--Home Free's version is my very favorite version of all the many, many I have heard 😍 You are correct--they are where "Sound of Music" was filmed! Besides the unbelievable harmonies--and gorgeous backdrop of the Austrian Alps, getting to hear Adam Rupp's sweet tenor actually singing is a real treat❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️
THANK YOU!! This song was my introduction to Home Free years ago, and I was immediately hooked. I have listened to this gem dozens of times, and I get full-body chills every single time. As others have said, "Helplessly Hoping" and "Brothers in Arms" are two other fantastic examples of their sheer vocal genius. Keep doing Home Free, my friend! Great reaction as always!!
You are so right. It’s like the sound of music which was in Austria. This was filmed in the Austrian Alps while they were touring there. It’s one of my favorites. So beautiful and Home Free is known for their tremendous harmonies. Good reaction G.O.T. And I subscribed. Try Helplessly Hoping, One Man Band, Brothers in Arms to hear more incredible harmonies. Oh and did you hear Adam (beatboxer) sing? He sang “it is well”. 😀
This was my grandma’s favorite hymn. I sang it at her funeral a couple decades ago. This was just so beautiful and brought back some lovely memories. ❤
Me too!! Waite Park was amazing! I was in the front row with my granddaughter. She was as excited as I was. She was screaming her head off. They are just amazing!!! I messed up my vids but got some great stills.

Nothing great but I do have most of Adam's solo up (missed about the first 15-20 seconds). I was so glad we ended up with good weather.
@@DyvmSlorm so was I. Adam and Tim both said in the meet & greet that the facility had some pretty strict rules about storms. They were considering not taking an intermission if the storm was coming in. If lighting strikes 5 miles from the facility,it's an automatic 15 minute delay. But the storm wasn't coming in until after we all left. Come to find out that when I lived in Apple Valley, Rob was only a few blocks away. Who knew? I probably passed him in the stores at some point. I just got acquainted with Home Free right before Christmas last year. They were amazing to see in person and very down to earth attitudes. Just love them.
Adam Rupp is the founding member from Minnesota who started the group with his brother Chris. Tim Foust is from Texas, Adam Chance is from Alabama, Austin Brown is from Georgia, and Rob Lundquist is for Minneapolis. What an amazing group of men have come together to create this fabulous sound for us to enjoy
Glad that you came back to Home Free! It's been a minute since I've seen you! So Welcome back lots of new releases. They're in the Austrian Alps when they were on their European Tour
Just beautiful, no other words !! This was filmed in the Austrian-Alps, they had been invited to an acapella festival and saw the scenery and called for their fim crew.
I'm not sure about the others but Austin, the high tenor was part of the regular entertainment crew on a cruise ship Home Free came on as guest performers. He was enthused and swore he would one day join the group. When Matt Atwood, one of the original members decided to leave to raise a family they contacted Austin. One of the "B-list" performers that stepped between Matt leaving and Austin joining was Adam Bastien. When Home Free was chosen to be on season 4 of the Sing-Off about a year later Adam Bastien was one of the performers to cover their scheduled tour dates while Home Free worked the Sing-Off tour in 2013-14. When Chris Rupp decided to leave Home Free, leaving his beat-boxer brother Adam as the last remaining original member, he started a 4-person group called 7th Ave. One of the members was his sister Tristin Rupp and the third was Adam Bastien (then Adam Bastien-Bell). Their fourth member switched off between a lady named Kelley Jakle and Adam's husband Jerome Bell-Bastien. Jump forward to mid 2024. Austin has married a beautiful goddess named Amberly and decided to lead the group for a bit of rest and to raised a family. So Adam Bell-Bastien is called Adam Bastien again. But with now three of the five members with the first name Adam they're going to be called by their last names while with Home Free. So it's now Rob, Tim, Bastien, Rupp, and Chance. And let me tell you, they sound just as great.
Chris Rupp, the original founding member, has a documentary series (5 episodes so far), that will connect the dots for you. “The History of Home Free” is entertaining and very informational. Another purely beautiful example of their harmonies is Helplessly Hoping cover of Crosby, Stills and Nash. Adam Rupp sings baritone in it
You were right on, this was filmed in the Austrian alps. The Sound of Music was also filmed in the Austrian alps but don't believe they are in the same place.😎😎😎😎
Got to love them! I'd recommend their cover of "Love Train" and " 9 to 5" and "American Pie" For your question: The former member Chris Rupp (brother of Adam Rupp, the beatboxer) has a series: "The history of Home Free" on his channel. Actually they had quite some changes in members, which I also didn't know before. For Pentatonix (short PTX) three of them (Kirstin, Scott & Mitch) where actually school friends and choir/theater members and then found the other two. Later Avi left the group and Matt replaced him.
They ARE purely Angelic Beings. There are not that many it here in music anymore. They are all leaving back to the heavens. Thank you for sharing your reaction.
Brought tears to my eyes here in west Virginia, this song is Awesome and they did right by it with those voices! I love how they added it is well with my soul, that was a surprise! 💖
you should check out their From the Vault - Behind the Scenes of this song. make sure you watch to the very end! LOL I you go to Chris Rupp's channel, he has done a series of videos on the History of Home Free. It's really fun and informative.
Formed in 2000 by Chris and Adam Rupp plus Matt Attwood, for 13 yrs they had members come and go it was a Grind putting themselves out there along the way they Picked up Rob Lundquist in 2008, Tim filled in on the Live Album I think in 09 or 2010 ? but didn't join full time until a year or so later, They Found Austin while he was under contract for a Cruse ship having fulfilled a prior contract with Disney, and as Luck would have it Matt Attwood was soon to retire and they were going to need a Tenor and Austin Reallly wanted to sing with them and he did fill in when Matt had family stuff going on and it became permanent around Jan. 2013 this was the line up when the went on season 4 of the TV show The Sing-Off Chris and Adam Rupp, Rob Lundquist, Tim Foust and new guy *chuckle* Austin Brown. And it was Lightening in a bottle ! They won and immediately began the TH-cam Channel and thanks to viewers (Home Fries) and starting a Patreon they released so many videos there are well over 200 on their channel check the playlists... in 2016 Chris Rupp decided to retire and devote time to his solo projects as well as assist his Musically gifted Sister with her group , He Hand picked a Great Replacement in Adam Chance whom they were all pretty familiar with on a professional level ( he was in a group called Street Corner Symphony they placed 2nd in Season 2 of the Sing -Off he was their Bass) also Tim's now wife had been friends with Chance for yrs. so there were varying levels of personal connections for Chance and the HF Members, he was also in videos long before the announcement of Chris's retirement AND he was along on Tour with them that last few shows before Chris left getting comfortable with the way HF works. So No they didn't grow up singing together but they all have similar stories. They have become Brothers/Friends/ Family through shared trials of working as hard as they do and finding time to be goofballs ...whatever the situation these guys truly have each others 6 . I got to see them Live for the first time 5-28-22 and I can assure you their bond is palpable and as Tight as their Harmonies. Do Not miss an Oportunity to see them Live You will never regret it !
This one was stunning, aye? I don’t go to church but I’d go if they were there doing stuff like this. Lol. They truly are gifted. Their voices blend so well and this one makes me catch my breath every time. 💜

This is the best version of the hymn in my opinion. Almost always brings me to tears. Being in Church.
Home Free actually filmed this video in the Swiss Alps during a tour of Europe.
Austria actually.
Yes,us too just hear them helps
Got to love them!
I'd recommend their cover of "Love Train" and " 9 to 5" and "American Pie"
For your question: The former member Chris Rupp (brother of Adam Rupp, the beatboxer) has a series: "The history of Home Free" on his channel. Actually they had quite some changes in members, which I also didn't know before.
For Pentatonix (short PTX) three of them (Kirstin, Scott & Mitch) where actually school friends and choir/theater members and then found the other two. Later Avi left the group and Matt replaced him.
This was filmed in Austria.
Those are the Mountains to Switzerland.
So, yes these are the Mountains from Sound of Music
Love the reference so true!
This is simply stunning in every way. Lordy!
This was the first HF song I ever heard, now I can't get enough
AWSOME AWSOME 💞💞😢😢LOVE THIS VERSION 💕💕THANKS MAN 👌👌
Also check out O'holy Night
They ARE purely Angelic Beings. There are not that many it here in music anymore. They are all leaving back to the heavens. Thank you for sharing your reaction.
Brought tears to my eyes here in west Virginia, this song is Awesome and they did right by it with those voices! I love how they added it is well with my soul, that was a surprise! 💖
I was waiting on when you got to this song. I like how they mixed in the verse of "It is well with my soul"
you should check out their From the Vault - Behind the Scenes of this song. make sure you watch to the very end! LOL I you go to Chris Rupp's channel, he has done a series of videos on the History of Home Free. It's really fun and informative.
Great to see you back with some Home Free!!! Keep em coming! Really fantastic review.
That was so beautifully sung! Love that song. Harmonizing was perfect! Great reaction Luke! #Wafflegang ❤️
Love your reactions. Such joyousness.
Perfect sung from Home free, but also perfectly described by you. Thank's a lot for your reaction. Two highlights for an Austrian.
They are amazing, so many great songs. You'll love them all
❤️
You’re not the only one with goose bumps.
You should check out Geoff Castellucci. "Sixteen Tons" is my favorite song he has covered. or "Far over the misty mountain cold"
This one hits you right in the feels doesn’t it?
I’m sure if you go to Home Free’s TH-cam channel! Mayday is there.
Everything is so perfect in the beautiful Austrian Alps
No one does this sing like Home Free!
This one was stunning, aye? I don’t go to church but I’d go if they were there doing stuff like this. Lol. They truly are gifted. Their voices blend so well and this one makes me catch my breath every time. 💜
This is my favorite hymn along with Amazing Grace. I cry every time especially when they sing. Great reaction, God Bless you my friend ✌️❤️🏳️🌈
Great song, magical landscape !!!
Have a great night and good start to a new week. A big hug to all of you.🤟❤
Much love Demi! Have a wonderful week!!
This is the second song I heard Home Free sing.
So beautiful
Thank you ^_^
I love your reactions. You do my 2 favorite bands. Home Free and BTS. Keep up the awesome work. Thanks for making me smile everytime. 😁
I believe this was filmed in the Austrian Alps, so your memory of the Sound of Music is on target. Love your HF reactions! Chill bumps for me, too!!
This is the Austrian Alps! They were there at a music festival. This was filmed with DRONES!
Look up Home Free From the Vault How Great Thou Art to see some of the filming of this video. Their From the Vault video usually get released the first Monday of the month. They just started it up again after a hiatus of a couple years.
You nailed the location, Swiss Alps
If you want another fun "mash-up" like the Butts Medley, then check out "Country Fried Pop" by Home Free! It's a fun song combo of "15 songs, and 17 artists, 1 amazing song". They also do a fun homage to The Big Lebowski movie in their video of "This is How We Roll." Rob looks exactly like John Goodman! LOL!
This was filmed in the Austrian Alps.
As far as Adam and his "harmonica"? I wish he would have taught me how to do that!
I've played harmonica for over 50 years. He could have saved me a ton of money! lol
