@@freekomo2172 There are two sides to every story. Dr. Berg provides valuable medical advice for free on social media platforms. Whatever is going on in his private life should be private. Real insight on understanding digestion and constipation, something no doctor of mines has ever explained properly to me. I had to learn it from a TH-cam video, is shameful. Dr Berg is for the people, and his legacy is a gift to us.
I have never been constipated and that is even when I've had to take pain medication in the past. My sister on the other hand, has always had the opposite problem. A couple months ago she was real sick for a couple of months throwing up throwing up. I kept telling her to go to the doctor finally, one night she felt so ill she thought she was dying. She called the ambulance got to the hospital and they started running tests on her. Well she had a blocked colon and her sugar was 538. Needless to say, she was in the hospital for about 2 weeks and as a part of doing all this work, up they found a mass on the head of her pancreas. So, I do believe what you're saying about constipation not being a disease in itself but being part of whatever is going on in your body. I believe that because of this mass on the head of the pancreas, caused her sugar to go up and caused her bowel blockage. Now on this coming Monday she has to have surgery to take out the cancer. Fortunately, because of this blockage they found it early and as far as they can see, it has not spread anywhere else. Which is is extremely unusual for this type of cancer. Everybody has to listen to what their body is telling them. And if you know what to look for then you can take care of the problem. So I'm glad I did listen to this video. Thank you.
Thank you all for your concern and your prayers. And to the doctor who introduced me to this diet and even though I've had problems with the diet. Initially I lost weight on the program. I have so many health problems myself that I do believe I gain weight from the medicine I take. I believe mine has to do with hormones too. But bless you all for thinking of my sister.. I'm crying right now as I send this message to you all who have given me a thumbs up or replied. . It's been more devastating to me than anything else that I've had to deal with with my own health. My sister's diagnosis has really devastated me.. She is so scared because she has had one surgery in her life and it's when she was seven. I've had six surgeries on each of my knees and my gallbladder removed two c-sections spinal fusion, So you see, if I could do it for her I would. God bless you all.
Never had a problem with constipation until I started intermittent fasting. More fiber during my eating window has helped but I may try these other recommendations to pinpoint the issue. Thanks Dr. Berg!
It may be due to the lack of food volume being consumed while fasting. Low intake of food and higher physical demand from the body causes constipation or much less frequent bowel movements. That's my observation anyway. Thats my personal observations anyway.
I’m an IBS suffer I struggled a lot with constipation trying my best to improve my gut health naturally and learning a lot from your videos, thank you Dr Berg for teaching us so much! love ❤️from UK🇬🇧
Mine might have been related to thyroid hormones are needed for gut peristalsis, metabolism and nerve signaling. Gut peristalsis are the movements that make your stool travel. For th3 and th4 production in the thyroid, the minerals and nutrients to do it, iron, zinc and iodine, and iodine needs good selenium levels also, some fat and vit A. Look out for mineral blockers (coffee, turmeric). Other adjustments that I made: regular salt, eating foods with B1 and no sulfites (block B1, present in salad dressings, bottled lemon juice, etc.).

My stress was the problem for my constipation and I notice when I started eating cabbage it really helped a lot and it works wonders if you steam it instead of cooking it because you will lose all the nutrients.
New Dr Berg-inspired salad idea that I eat every day: sauerkraut, celery, and broccoli sprouts with a squeeze of lemon and splash of olive oil. Delicious!
I can say you're absolutely right! I've been constipated for years! My belly was so big people used to ask me if I was pregnant! Couple months ago doctors found out I have a autoimmune liver disease. My gallbladder was not producing enough bile, now I'm on a certain medication to help with the disease and I'm less constipated! Thanks God! Amazing how the body works!!
The best constipation medicine ever I take daily is : Leeks. adding some of them to my breakfast/ brunch omelette, which is cooked with olive oil, and it regulates going to the toilet almost the same time everyday.
Probably the bets explanation of constipation I have ever seen in my life! Suffered a lot of constipation between 2014-2016...lifestyle change, helped a lot.
Thank you for your persevering work. Information from some of your past videos helped me understand that a crisis about 8 days ago was self-induced low potassium. A quick, temporary correction of a couple of days of potassium gluconate supplementation, plus long-term revised nutrition to improve potassium and other electrolyte levels, more consistent hydration, and finally cutting sugar completely, saved me from a visit to critical care or a hospital, and as of yesterday has me completely back on track. Thank you again. You share life-saving information. Thank you again again.
I had the worst diarrhea in 2019. I can't tell you how often I slept in the bathroom that year. GI could not figure it out. I developed Dysautonomia around June. Diagnosed with Gastroparesis in September. 2020 hit and was in the reverse situation. We tried to troubleshoot with meds (otc and rx) until I couldn't do it anymore and was insistent something was wrong. I didn't have any bowel movements from Sept to Nov. Turns out my colon doesn't work because of nerve damage. I've had a total of 3 bowel movements since December. My GI sent me to a colorectal surgeon. Waiting for additional testing and to come up a game plan in June. Never let someone make you feel crazy. You know you're body better than anyone.
Wonderful video!!! Perfect explanation!! I really needed to have this information in just in this way. I’ve never known the process/details related to our digestive system in a way that I could grasp, utilize, and hopefully share, but I feel like my understanding is increasing at a good pace without overwhelming me. Dr Berg is really a saint, I have been closely following his contents for close to 2 years. One of his video explaining on the chain-relationship of stomach acid, heart burn and bloating literally cured my wife's chronic and severe problem of bloating, constipation and lost of sleeps, the problem has been with her for close to 10 years despite consulting many doctors. Thank you! This is the most helpful advice and information I've ever received from the internet community. Ever. It's precise and concise. I have nothing but respect for this man when it comes to patient care...typically missing in modern medicine 'dispensers'. I know believe most GPs are 'receptionists' for a huge medical cartel, they know only how to direct human bodies to pharmaceuticals, specialists and surgeons. In the olden days, the average GP knew and understood even the patients home life and current stress levels and, thus, could better understand symptoms, and could critically assess their patients more effectively prior to calling in specialists or recommending surgery or pharma meds. Today? A GP barely recognizes a patient in the street...they either don't know them as humans or they aren't just aren't interested,
I just went through this! I am a little angry because medical doctors are mistreating their patients by not getting to the root cause. I started to talk about the history of my constipation and he cut me off!
This is true, but it's also the patient's responsibility to not be sick unnecessarily due to their own negligence. There's enough blame to go around, but it's up to patients to take responsibility and then doctors will be forced to do better.
I used to eat horribly as a child by school food and Indian commodities. I was always constipated and never told anyone. I would go several days without a BM and even then it was not a comfortable thing or even match the amount of food I took in. This continued into my early adult years. I went to the doctor and er so many times in my early 20s with horrible pain in my stomach that radiated to my back and down my legs. The doctors would just send me home with pain meds because they didn't know why but they also didn't do any tests at all! Finally one doctor did an xray which shown constipation. She told me to eat activia, fiber bars, and stay away from bananas. Still to this day that makes zero sense. They referred me because I told them I had bloody stools all the time and did a colonoscopy which showed nothing. But at least my bowels were cleared out from the laxatives! So I began to just pray about it and one time I seen a picture of a banana on pinterest and it said 5 things you should eat. Now why would the doctor and pinterest both tell me to stay away from bananas lol. (I grew up in Hawaii the the first 2years of my life, mangoes and bananas all day everyday and for sure wasn't constipated according to my parents!) So I clicked on the pinterest photo and it wasn't telling me not to eat bananas, it was saying do not eat GMOs, processed food, pop, processed sugars, etc. So I switched immediately to eating grains, fruits, vegetables, organic, local, foraging, hunting wild game and local fishing. Just back to eating what I ate before I was fed government food. I no longer have any issues! It's videos like this one that have helped me the past 8 years, not fiber bars! Which btw cause horrible gas and you still won't have a BM! I even enjoy eating bananas!
Thanks for sharing, Anna. Sometimes it’s just going back to our beautiful Mother Earth’s supply. You’ve encouraged me to believe I can solve for my 14 year old son’s chronic problem.
Hi! Did you consult a doctor? I've been dealing with constipation for over a month now. This is new to me as my bowel movements used to be very normal. The last time I 'went' was last February, and it was after a party I went to.

Interesting. Usually when I’m constipated, which actually is a lot, my go to is to pump some apples, oatmeal and water through my body. But the last time I tried this, it seemed like it didn’t work or the process was slower and I couldn’t figure out why. Apparently there is more going on in my body that I need to figure out...thank you as usual!
I love all of your posts. But I would argue that water consumption will affect bowel performance far more than fiber. Worked for big pharma for 13 years. I trained retailers on gastrointestinal health. That does not make me a med focused person but it did educate me on general lower bowel digestion. I get the need for fiber and veg based vitamins... but water consumption moves bowels faster than anything. Low fluid= constipation.
My mother's fiance gave himself a hernia a few months ago. After 3 bays of no bowel movements, he went to the hospital and told him what was going on, and yes he told them about the hernia. They sent him home with a prescription for laxatives. Three days later he was in surgery. WTF is wrong with doctors these days?
Thank you Dr Berg, I never knew it took 36 hours for compete digestion of food. No wonder just before I discovered Keto I didn't feel well after surgery so I didn't eat for 3 days. I had my appendix removed. Thankfully, cruising through utube I found you. I never heard of Keto before. My story on how I began Keto.
Another great video, doc. I'll be doing a 7 day fast soon as I know my body needs it. Despite being on a OMAD program I still feel a bit constipated, although eating less has made a massive positive difference. Also, I am glad you mentioned the nervous system. Many of probably don't realize that we are stuck in survival/sympathetic mode, and have simply adapted to living this way. It is however the state of dis-ease, should we remain in this state for too long. I am currently working more with my vagus nerve by way of emotional-thought work, as well as acupressure, qi-gong, yoga and generally getting my body feeling that it is safe and secure and can relax and be at-ease. Thanks, Dr. Berg!!
@@weshendrikx9754 I have not, but I will have a look for sure, thanks. It's going very well actually. With the QI Gong I have found I am able to create energy programs, so I'm working on creating some for sale, yeah. Also, I learned another couple of cool things recently: Holographic Manipulation Therapy and Quantum Jumping-very cool stuff.
Rob H. - I loved that he mentioned the parasympathetic information too. I'm learning the relax state of mind myself. I have faith in Jesus. So then I could take the love, deliverance and promises He has for us to calm myself. I then had peace and I focused that into my body to heal from abuse, I am now out of. I was trained to tense my body when I wasn't being treated right. I didn't realize how important the parasympathetic nervous system is and what chronic stress can do to us. So now I am retraining myself to consciously relax my stomach and bowels. Getting relief now. I know I had turned off, unknowingly, my digestive processes. Thank God I know now! Jesus is good and helps us with this information. The one who created Quantum Theory too. Love it! I agree with you, great video.

Dr Berg your videos are so easy to understand and easy to follow. I can tell you that following your advice has greatly improved my digestion and without sounding too gross, I've never had better bowel movements than now.
Thank you so much for this video! I have been waiting for a video that someone that doesn't JUST say eat more fiber and drink more water. i have a feeling my life long constipation started when I wouldn't "go" when my body called for it. And when I had an eating disorder, all when I was in my late teens, early twenties. I am 42 now, but I feel that is what started my constipation started.
How interesting and informative. I am always constipated no matter how much fiber I ingest, how much water I drink and how much exercise I get. After watching I realize what my issue is and that is I am taking Pantoprazole for acid stomach and I have also had my gallbladder removed so with the lack of stomach acid and lack of bile my stool is just drying out in transit. I also have small snacks all through the day. All healthy no junk food in my diet. So it looks like I need to stop that too! My Doctors all say the same thing too. Take fiber , drink water get more excerise. That's all they ever say Do you have a video on what to do for bile if had your gallbladder out and what to do about an acidic stomach? I have had it most of my life and I am 72 yrs old female Thanks for this video and all your videos! I am learning things I never knew about how your body really works!
Hi there. I have some videos below that may help you. www.youtube.com/@Drberg/search?query=gallbladder%20removal www.youtube.com/@Drberg/search?query=acid%20reflux
Going from OMAD to eating about 4 meals in a 8-10 hour window really helped my digestion, aswell as my muscle protein synthesis. I really love fasting though and when my bile production and metabolism have adapted I will continue IF.
@@hey956 Yes and yes. I tried lowering fat, taking ox bile etc. Now when I eat at more times per day I get way less bloated, way less undigested parts in the stool and all. I'm gonna keep doing this for a while.
@@TheFBM2011 Extend your eating window, eat more frequent and more fatty (but not too fatty so it floats). That fixed my indigestion and lack of bile. Aswell as Dandelion root (love that one) and some Ox bile. Of course in the future I will start reintroducing fasting, because I love that. But I'm not sure if I can handle it now. I got pretty cold at times too, so I suspect I might have hypothyroid.

This might be the most helpful video I've ever seen about the digestive system. Thank you Dr Berg, as a person who allowed the mutilation of the gallbladder without it being necessary, I have found this video very interesting since after that surgery I've been dealing with episodes of constipation - diarrhea - anxiety - depression - fear for 8 yrs. The doctors ruined my life but I'm following your tips and other functional doctors' tips and it looks like I'm getting better. I will NEVER EVER trust my health to conventional, ignorant, arrogant, stupid doctors... Much less after seeing SO MANY pseudo medical doctors recommending experimental shots even to the kids.
Have you tried doing a parasite cleanse? I don't have a gallbladder either and was constipated also until I started doing parasite cleanses for a few months
If you had horrible pain already your doctor had no other choice. My father's did not take his gallbladder on time knowing he had a big stone and my father almost died of pancreatitis. My sister had to go ER during covid because of her gallbladder and was lucky that she didn't die, doctors where not doing gallbladder surgeries and thank God they didn't say she had COVID and kept her in.
I was constipated for years and i think the best thing you can take if you have been absolutely smashing junk food like i was, is choline. I didn't know this when i started taking it but choline is brilliant for digestion. it makes bile more fluid and gives the bowels the neurotransmitters necessary for digestion. Seriously i started taking it and had massive bowel movements.
@@eviekelpie1 choline bitartrate powder off amazon. I put them inside gelatin capsules that i have. I started taking them to assist fatty liver but the relief from constipation is such a big win.
Thank you so much! I used to be a huge fan of junk foods and carbonated beverages and I assume they were another factors to blame that greatly contributed to my constipation today.
I very rarely get constipated or diarrhea, but when I do, I know exactly why: lots of empty calories, too much and too frequent eating, and also stress. When I do OMAD fasting, eat clean, hydrate well and exercise regularly I have no digestion problems whatsoever.
I am in the same boat. Stress, junk food, too much processed/fried food, and being sedentary result in constipation. I have mild lactose intolerance which is the cause for diarrhea at times.
I never had constipation when I used to eat 3-4 times a day. But when I started fasting/keto and eating once a day I got constipation since there was not much waste created and nothing triggered bowel movements, especially if you fast for 24 hours or more.
If I eat too much fiber then I get backed up! Especially if I have a Lotta cruciferous vegetables, it just stays in my guts like a rock! I’m pretty healthy otherwise but there’s something about those types of foods that I enjoy but they bind me up. I usually have to take magnesium to get things moving
Yes almost always cooked and i drink lots of water. Honestly, stress and anxiety have the biggest effects on my digestion, more than the food i eat. Might be a mild IBS-C

I am grateful for this. Your work is so helpful. Reducing stress helps. So too, for me, is to not eat while I'm stressed. Perhaps some stress, like conflicting personalities, can't be avoided. You can't pick your family, you need your job, and neighbors aren't easy to change. But, you don't have to eat. Bile salts are essential, and, lots of leafy greens, as fresh as you can find them. The only canned vegetables I will eat is green beans, because they're the only vegetable you can get in a can that hasn't had it's skin removed, and half the texture of lightly steamed carrots is the contrast between the tougher skin and the softer flesh. It's really sad that people only eat the equivalent of a can of vegetables each day.
i've been experimenting on my chronic constipation for a while, and psyllium husk fiber capsules made my constipation worse. What i found was the best remedy was Pomegranate fruit (eating the seeds & all).
Thank you for this Dr. Berg! I have suffered with constipation since I was 10 years old. I am now 41. I have had an colonoscopy and nothing was found. My water intake is more than I actually need because I'm afraid I will get constipated. I can't eat cheese and other dairy because I get clogged immediately but I take supplements to substitute. I do 16/8 IF also. After this video, I honestly believe that my constipation is the result stress. I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Aniexty and I am managing it well but I do channel my stress internally if that makes sense. Your video truly enlightened me and now I'm going to tell my husband that you said to send me on vacation! 😂🤣😂 I'm kidding!!! Thank you for loving us so much by sharing this information with us! I had same problem as a kid and when I was a vegan. Nothing was found ,why I was constipated. Lots of water , smoothies and salads. Then I changed to keto / carnivore. Not much fiber but lots of fat and protein. And I don't have problems now. Too much fiber is not good . One size doesn't fit all. Definitely I needed fat in my diet . Now I dont have problems ,if I over eat on salads problems starts again. So o know for me keto/ carnivore is the way to go.

Such comprehensive solution to a common but recurring problem in such short video! In Ayurveda, it has been mentioned that almost all diseases begin from bad digestion system. Physicians too need this approach. Thanks for explaining to us that constipation is not just fiber and hydration issue. Bowel movements and stools reveal what is going on in your digestive tract.
Oh... I've been suffering from constipation throughout my life... After drinking metamucil did not make it better... I wish I knew this earlier! I've tried with more fat and magnesium, that seems to work well.
Constipation also occurs when you are too stressed or emotionally bombarded. The way we feel has a serious impact on how our stomach functions and overall our entire digestive system. For instance, if you are emotionally tense you end up either having constipation or bloated.
I never had the problem of constipation until 2020, when I got super depressed and emotionally exhausted. I have been struggling with constipation ever since, even after the initial trauma was over. I've tried so many things to get rid of it, but nothing has worked to get me regular.

My stress was the problem for my constipation and I notice when I started eating cabbage it really helped a lot and it works wonders if you steam it instead of cooking it because you will lose all the nutrients.

I can say you're absolutely right! I've been constipated for years! My belly was so big people used to ask me if I was pregnant! Couple months ago doctors found out I have a autoimmune liver disease.
Presenting my doctor, Dr.Berg. Thank you for another great video and for the free sharing of crucial advice.
What can we ever do without you Dr Berg? You are saving the world. The best Doctor for LIFE. Thanks sir. God bless you and yours immensely.

Today? A GP barely recognizes a patient in the street...they either don't know them as humans or they aren't just aren't interested,
Good morning! Thank you so much for this video because I suffer from constipation.
Very glad to be of help.
My doctor thinks I'm a hypochondriac.
Time for a new doctor.
Hi! How long have you been dealing with constipation and what do you think was the reason for its occurence?
A tablespoon of black seed oil followed by a glass of room temperature water first thing in the morning...or lemon water...
@Bok Choy I hate it too and now I want to keep my kids from having to eat it! Even snack time is a koolaid pouch and fruit snacks or chips 🙄

Thanks, Dr. Berg!!
Have you heard of Irene Lyon’s teachings on the nervous system? Might be something for you . How is accu pressure, yoga and qi gong for you?

How interesting and informative. I am always constipated no matter how much fiber I ingest, how much water I drink and how much exercise I get. Going from OMAD to eating about 4 meals in a 8-10 hour window really helped my digestion, aswell as my muscle protein synthesis. I really love fasting though and when my bile production and metabolism have adapted I will continue IF.
Did you have constipation? And are you on keto?
@@hey956 Yes and yes. I tried lowering fat, taking ox bile etc. Now when I eat at more times per day I get way less bloated, way less undigested parts in the stool and all. I'm gonna keep doing this for a while.
I don’t know man since I switch my normal traditional healthy diet to IF, I’m definitely more bloated and constipated. Maybe lack of bile.

I was constipated for years and i think the best thing you can take if you have been absolutely smashing junk food like i was, is choline. I didn't know this when i started taking it but choline is brilliant for digestion. it makes bile more fluid and gives the bowels the neurotransmitters necessary for digestion.

So your saying intermittent fasting caused constipation?
I am always try to follow Dr. Berg
You’re supposed to drink a lot of water with fiber.
Are the vegetables steamed ? Do not eat them raw

Thank you for another great video! Question for you...why do you recommend use of benfotiamine (which is a synthetic S-acyl derivative of thiamine (vitamin B1))...rather than recommending Thiamine? Thanks!
Dr. Berg just love your work. The way you explain things is phenomenal.
Very glad to be of help.
Constipation also occurs when you are too stressed or emotionally bombarded. The way we feel has a serious impact on how our stomach functions and overall our entire digestive system. For instance, if you are emotionally tense you end up either having constipation or bloated.
So true!
I never had the problem of constipation until 2020, when I got super depressed and emotionally exhausted. I have been struggling with constipation ever since, even after the initial trauma was over. I've tried so many things to get rid of it, but nothing has worked to get me regular.
@@nebulaone908 Hi! So do you mean to tell that your constipation didn't go away since 2020?
Please take care!
I cant thank enough Dr.Berg .I have the same situation .Whenever i cut on carbs and drink more water my costipation go away .But when I do keto I am fine .
