+Oloan Pranala Such terrible news. Oddly, I had been listening to some of my favorite songs on "Superunknown" ("Fell on Black Days", "The Day I Tried To Live", and, of course, "Black Hole Sun") when I was in the shower the morning I heard he had died, before hearing the news. He will definitely be missed. It's not an exaggeration to say he was one of the greatest rock singers of all time. You could pick his voice out of a crowd of a million singers. He could take his voice in so many different directions and styles, sometimes in the same song. He was a legend, and we will never see another one like him again.
Cameron is one of my favorite drummers. He's the perfect example of a guy who doesn't try to overshadow the band by doing too much. His shit just hits hard.
+ooroozima Ahh... that he does! He's not the flashiest, but he really pulls songs together with the solid foundation he lays down. One of my all-time favorites!
The "Hang my head and drown my fear until you all just disappear" line gets me every time. A lot of Soundgarden songs, you can sing along but there's no way you can't tell Cornell was fighting some shit by some of the lyrics. Especially the nearly the entirety of Superunknown. Imagine being a song writer, writing some dark stuff during a dark time, then maybe getting over it but having to go back to that place again and again doing live shows because the track was so popular.
Went to Lolla last year to see the chilli peppers and they didn't play under the bridge for that same reason, Kiedes doesn't wanna return to that place
One of the greatest and most underrated drummers ever. His feet and syncopation on this live track? Unfuckingreal. And to say you played with Chris Cornell... yeah, I could retire after that.
There will NEVER be another Chris Cornell. I don't follow rock music as much as I did before so maybe I'm wrong on this, but it seems to me like the era of iconic frontmen has come and gone. The top lead singers nowadays don't seem to have that necessary combination of incredible singing, an original/unique-sounding voice, and the swagger to match the vocals. Chris had all three in spades. RIP Chris Cornell. You will be sorely missed, and your music will live on forever.
Yeah :( I think Johnny Stevens of Highly Suspect has the potential to be the next iconic rock frontmen akin to those of the 90s. There's always hope RIP Chris Cornell
Chris L. Can’t stand a lot of modern rock, a lot of it’s just a bunch of filters out over voices so that it sounds like utter crap, or it’s guitar melodies that are super soft and quiet and don’t even sound good.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate Kim Thayil?? So underrated and has produced some of the best riffs in rock and his solo in this song is amazing 🤘🎸
Rest in peace dear Chris. Thanks all of you guys, Kim for amazing solos and Never The Machine Forever, Ben for Head Down and finally , Mat for your drum experience and drums on Switch Opens. Thanks a lot for yours and my emotions. Very big respect for unique SOUNDGARDEN!!!!
I'm missing you big time my brother, I'm fighting cancer and I'm needing you more now than ever. I will keep playing your songs and videos until the day I meet the shadow of the sun. Until then, loud love! I'm sharing you with all the other cancer patients at the treatment center I'm going to every day, introducing you to new fans my brother, your legend grows. Rest easy beautiful angel and saint of ROCK AND ROLL, forever!
This was the first song I heard of soundgarden in 1993. I was 11 years old, the music video freaked me out but the song was perfect. I fell in love with his voice that day. I hope you found the peace you so desperately craved in your time on earth. No one sings like you anymore ❤️
Not only does his snare drum sound phenomenal, but the timing on that bridge is like 9/8 or something crazy. He's taken an already tricky rhythm and blown it up with complex fills here. He's one of the greatest.
"Times are gone for honest men and sometimes far too long for snakes..." As a person who was targeted in an unfair gossip, this line really struck me hard, thanks, Chris for the understanding
All 4 band members from Soundgarden are equally important. One of the rare bands with no weak links and every member brings something unique and great to the table
I met this band watching this show on television, and the next day I went to class and a news appeared saying that Chris Cornell had died, it was very strange... Today, Soundgarden is one of my favorite bands and it never fails out in my playlists.
I remember listening to my little stick radio on my lunch break working in the cafeteria when I was in Jr. high and the station (X107.5) played "Spoon Man", and "Jesus Christ Pose" on their "Liquid Lunch" music block. I had the opening shuffle to Spoon Man stuck in my head the rest of the day, I never gave it too much thought...I never changed the station when Sound Garden came up on the playlist. I've never heard a tune they did I didn't like. Truthfully some an acquired taste; not bad just a little too left-field to fall right into. In high school, Audioslave debuted with their self-titled album; I heard "Cocheise" (misspelled get off my tip...I've never seen The Warriors)...and I remember the impact that had on me too; Something so mesmerising. I stopped dead in front of my brother's sound system and just sat down and stared a hole through the stereo until the song was over like the RCA dog or something. Chris had an unreal set of pipes, and a knack for starting or getting involved in projects that just MADE you listen. I'm not stroking him because he's dead; I've always felt that way, because that was always the impact that Sound Garden, Temple of the Dog, Audio Slave and his solo project's always had on me. God rest the man. It's unfortunate that genuine talent is morbidly overlooked while it's here. He's not like Michael Jackson, or Prince. Critics didn't pander to him or the bands he was involved in while he was here and his projects sure as shit never got as much air time. I don't expect that any stations will be playing Temple, Audioslave, or Sound Garden anymore than they typically would. What really blows is they were working on a new studio album...Chris buying the farm kinda shot that right in the ass; unpolished though it might be I hope, and pray they release what they managed ti finish is the minuscule ammount if time they had to work on it.
i miss you so much, chris. thank you for spurring me on each and every day to keep trying, to keep rowing. you are a true legend, and will always be remembered❤️
You can really see how much he’s struggling at this point😕even though it sounds good and his voice is good he just seems like he doesn’t wanna be there and doesn’t want to be doing it. RIP Chris

this band is the godfather of seattle sound era...each member is a master on their position
Thx Genius

Cameron's drum track is so on the money... He's unbelievably consistent. 👌
Dude's a fucking metronome
Yeh. Pocket deep as the grand canyon
he is
If there is something like a master's degree in drumming... then Matt Cameron would be a Doctor!!!
One of the greatest and most underrated drummers ever. His feet and syncopation on this live track? Unfuckingreal. And to say you played with Chris Cornell... yeah, I could retire after that.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate Kim Thayil?? So underrated and has produced some of the best riffs in rock and his solo in this song is amazing 🤘🎸
He's not a virtuoso, but he knew what he can do with his guitar to fit the song perfectly.

Black Hole Sun
Soundgarden
In my eyes, indisposed
In disguises no one knows
Hides the face, lies the snake
The sun in my disgrace
Boiling heat, summer stench
'Neath the black the sky looks dead
Call my name through the cream
And I'll hear you scream again
Black hole sun
Won't you come
And wash away the rain

Won't you come
Won't you come (won't you come)
Stuttering, cold and damp
Steal the warm wind tired friend
Times are gone for honest men
And sometimes far too long for snakes
In my shoes, a walking sleep
And my youth I pray to keep
Heaven sent hell away
No one sings like you anymore
Black hole sun
Won't you come
