The Richmond Dispatch (10 July 1894) and the Record-Union (1 September 1894) printed an article on 'How British Sportsmen Hunt Crocodiles in India' where an ex-officer of the British Army was quoted as saying, 'We used to have a great sport in India going out after crocodiles with Hindu babies as bait'.

So I want to say a lot of things because of Rick's commentary, but I don't know how much I can do by writing.
First of all I have to start by saying that there no actual left in USA. Besides things like gun control, LGBT, abortion few heated differences both right and left are same. Like Biden facilitated in killings of thousands of Palestinians, so did Obama in Iran, so did Bush and Clinton, if anything right wing Trump has less people killed in world during his times.
All these oppressive colonial regime you see around the world are right wing. This racial idea of supremacy is a conservative idea. By the very definition of "conservative" it means people who wants to conserve the existing systems. They want that because the existing systems gives them privilege. It can be socio-political and economical. So it can be racial privilege or caste privilege or gender privilege and so on. All socio political things that happens to be a chance.
Liberals on the other hands wants change, they are not very much scared of change, more or less. But they mostly opt for change through institutions. Like reforms through courts, media, universities, parliament etc. And radical people are those who don't see any hope of change in the existing system so they call for total revolution and complete establishment of a new system, which is what these revolutionaries demanded by toppling the whole British govt and didn't believe in reforms in British government. Such change people wanted in Russia, which is what Lenin did though communist revolution. Which is what happened in France in 1789 where leftist demanded Equality Liberty and Fraternity. So liberals and radicals have always been a catalyst for change, not conservatives (right wing). So no that British lady in the movie is not being idealistic, this is how change happen. If you have not chosen the radical ways to change things, and you want to do it peacefully then you March for it, you stage protests, you write articles, and when you voice reaches enough people, and sort of gets acceptable in times to comes even for conservatives then you go for that change and you amend regulations, change constitution etc.
During British all efforts were done by liberals and radicals, there were hardly any right wing conservatives in our freedom struggle, most were communists. I know there is so much fear mongering of socialism and communism in US that these words must trigger. But that's the truth. Most workers right that we enjoy today in world are given by liberal radical, communist movements. First feminist movement was a communist movement.
USA killed millions of communists around the world. And these are right wing violence. When can read yourself confirmed sources. 500k killed in Indonesia alone. Vietnam, Combodia, every nation in South America. Tens of communist leaders in world, those were doing good for their countries. Read about what happened to communist govt in Afghanistan and how good were their conditions at the time. Same goes for Iran. And just because like you Vietnam established communist govt you didn't say what harm does it do. ? You are conveniently forgetting the number of people killed by US armies in that country. All those are right wing agendas around the world.
In India right wing during British imperialism were their confidants, many of them were informants. Rest were only interested in religious bigotry to divide nation on the basis on religion and this goes for both Hindu and Muslim conservative right wing... All of these things are there to read. Even Mahatma Gandhi was killed by a right wing terrorist.
The first democratically elected communist govt was formed in India in 1957 and it's been there ever since. It is the best performing state in India. But it is not to say communists will do only good. There has been many totalitarian communists those killed people, like Stalin and Mao. In India socialism has been quite nice so far. But this current right wing govt has made everything worse. Rich have been getting richer and average salary of poor has reduced...
One more thing you said about equity...I have to address that..when people talk about equality they don't mean that everybody will be same. It is to say that people should have equal opportunity. Best possible way and also their basic human needs should be met. they are the ones who are actually putting hard work. If they are making roads with their labour then it should not be only for corporates to run their multi million trade on it but for those who made it should at least get free healthy care to able treated like a human being...... Taking money from those who use those roads to make billions...
I hope you read this without getting offended...if you have read this long, thanks.....

+ What's worse one man's policy resulting in famine or, multiple famines caused by legislations that pass through a democratic parliament after extensive debate and are signed by a democratically elected prime minister? The adventure of British parliamentary democracy and PMs like Churchill killed more than 150+ million people in the sub-continent. I am a very capitalist now but my great-grandfather was a communist freedom fighter. That's how they fought. I can betray the world for money, but not my blood.
The invasion of Iraq and Libya over false claims and false testimonies is the most recent show of the beauty of western Democracies.

I do agree with some of what you said. But you bias against what you consider to be "right wing" comes across rather strongly.
To call all Conservatives bad without forming any distinction between them is just as bad as calling all Communists bad without forming any distinction between them. All conservative systems weren't bad and all modern democratic or communist systems are not a utopia either. There is no one size fits all solution and in human societies, the "size" keeps changing, so what would fit best, also keeps changing. And our decision making can not keep up, no matter what system we create.
Getting stuck in absolutes like you are doing right now is a what an extremist would do. Learn to appreciate nuance. For the devil is always in the details. Blanket statements like the ones you made are exactly how a "good" system turns evil.
*Also, it is not good to bend numbers to try to wield your own narrative. You say "rich has been getting richer." Economically, this is called "income inequality" and it is measured by the metric known as GINI index. And between 2011-12 and 2021-22, India's GINI index has actually reduced:-
Rural areas it went from 0.283 to 0.266
Urban areas, it fell from 0.363 to 0.314
Which proves that during a period of rule where India so BOTH LEFT WING AND RIGHT WING governments, India's income inequality reduced. The same number also shows how India is more equal than USA and less equal than Japan in this metric.*
I am sorry if hard numbers do not suit your political or ideological agenda. But ideologically driven people like you really need to learn that it is not wise to first form an opinion and then look for evidence to support your claims. The scientific way that us engineers follow involves first getting the numbers neutrally and then trying to math out the facts. Once you have the facts infront of you, first step is realizing what facts are still not in front of you and what are the concomitant factors. Only then do you begin an analysis. And only after an analysis should one draw conclusions and form an opinion. And the last and most important step: Realizing that this process needs to be repeated frequently to keep yourself grounded in reality.
Want another number? UN Report on Multidimensional Poverty Index 2022 details how over the 15 years prior to 2022, India has lifted 415 Millions out of poverty. Again, both governments were in power: Left wing AND Right wing. Yet the trend was consistently in a single direction.
About time you realize that both governments have India's economic growth as its main priority and in both cases, they will feed the existing economic system which in India's case is a mix of socialism and capitalism. So what you want to attribute to "bad right wing governance" is actually:-
      1.) Not happening.
2.) Whatever else is happening is a result of mostly consistent policies that build on top of the work of each other unaffected by the left wing and right wing political crap that you see on the Media.
