Ram Mohammad Singh Azad was one of the many alias of Udham Singh. The names reflect the three major religions of the country- Hindu, Muslim and Sikh, Ram being a Hindu name, Mohammad, a Muslim name and Singh being Sikh. And Azad simply means freedom or liberation. So, the name, Ram Mohammad Singh Azad, is basically Udham Singh's anti-colonial sentiments. Or more poetically, a clever construction that coveys the message, "we the people of India want liberation from the British Raj".

So basically, he included Muslims as natives to fight British Christian colonial powers. It was the need of that time. Ironically, Muslims are in india only because of Islamic Invasions.
It's Astonishing & SAD how people completely forgot insurmountable Cruelty inflicted by Islamic Invaders and Genocides of Native Dharmic People of Bharat by Muslim Invaders during Islamic Invasions and Islamic rule.
Forgiving is okay but Forgetting means setting up stage for same. Never forget ideology that is fundamentally against your Country and Civilization. Not against any section of people, just beware of outsider innately exploitative ideologies.

Discovered this channel because of the Harry Potter reactions. Didn't expect to see a reaction on this movie. But pleasantly surprised. A very dark time in Indian history. The final scene is such a harrowing experience. Hoping to see more reactions on Indian cinema in the future.

British never intended to pull out of India after WW2.
It was Rebellion amongst The Indian Navy later airforce inspired by public execution of INA generals (Indian National Army led by Subhas Chandra Bose) which forced them to quit India . Also Britian was hugely in debt. They didn't had resources to fight against rebellion in British Indian forces.

@@arghyabhattacharyya7787 wrong. This is the incompetent thought process of many Indians including the Indian Film Federation which is why India is always left out of the Oscar race.
If the right film is chosen and properly campaigned then they will get nominated. Last Film Show is an example. Despite it being an indie film, it has been shortlisted for International Feature at the 2023 Oscars.
RRR is another example. With proper campaigning the film has received good reception amongst the critics circle and will get some Oscar nods including best original song.
The Indian film fraternity and the Indian audience need to change their mentality and stop making excuses for their incompetence. They need to respect artistic merit and give it its due recognition. They need to embed this culture before their film are respected internationally.
The problem is us. Our incompetence. Our inability to recognize good cinema amongst our own films. Our dysfunctional level of nepotism. Why blame others? First we must fix ourselves to become a worthy institution that not only creates good films (which India certainly does) but also respects good cinema (which India does not)

The British had a propensity to err on the side of proper documentation. So the idea that they would be fine torturing someone but not forging their signature falls in line with that notion (although I don't think that every British law enforcement member fell along the same lines). Something that this reminds me of is in the storming of the U.S. capital by British soldiers in the War of 1812. They went burning buildings but were persuaded by Dr. William Thornton to not burn the patents office because that was the property of non-government individuals and contained some of the shared understanding of the world at the time in terms of technological advancement.
