Regarding about Authenticity of this Movie, Well this Movie took 20 Years to Develop this Movie. It was one of Ambitious Dream Project for Director of this Movie Shoojit Sircar. So you can tell how much deep research the Director of the Movie go through it.
In movie they kept shooting for about 4 and half minute. But in reality it was more than 12 mins. 12 mins of nonstop firing until they finally ran out of ammunition.
Movie is 95% truth. What they didn't show is he individually corrected the soldiers who were missing the shots and ordered them to shoot at the densest section of the crowd so that more people can get killed in less time and Bullets (Remember in RRR)
No doubt Vicky does justice to the character he plays. We've been hearing the story about this massacre since our childhood from our parents and in history books even there's a slogan which is played in independence day and there's a paragraph in that slogan which mentions this massacre, we've been hearing about it but never felt how brutal and heartbreaking it was. After watching the movie no body could hold the tears, they did fantastic job with all the actings and cinematography which made it perfect.

Well since you got some historical context of India and Britain that's the reason why in most commercial movies like that are meant for entertainment if there is a British character it is often portrayed as villain if set during colonial times without any nuance just like how hollywood portrays Nazis in their movies. This question actually came up a lot after people outside watched RRR as to why there was no nuance to the villain's character and was a cartoonish villain; it's mainly because of this colonial history. We haven't been independent for even 100 years yet, it's still fairly recent in terms of history so that's the reason even in popular media in India colonial Britishers are often shown as villains. Fun fact: British colonialism killed more Indians than the lives lost during the holocaust. Although no tragedy should be measured but just to give you an idea why colonial period Britisher officials or people like Churchill are hated in India
I appreciate you watching this. His story was largely ignored until now. Both by the west and India. My grandparents come from near Amritsar and were alive during this event. I was brought up on this story. It shaped my character. Thank you.
