Him: It doesn't have to be so complicated. Everyone: Poly, lacquer, shellac, towels, strip, don't shake, no wait don't stir, special roller, special towel, stir it with gold rods made from the tombs in Egypt! Him: ughhhh...nah . I love how everyone is telling this dude to do what every other TH-cam video says and he literally said in the beginning "it doesn't have to be that complicated" ... He's aware of all yalls steps and 42 different methods, he just doesn't care and all the comments are telling him how to do what he does not want to do lololol
😳🤔 Minwax Golden Oak is my go-to base coat for nearly all of my projects, It is probably the most predictable and most satisfying product they make! 👍👍👍
I have a raised dog dish that I bought off of Etsy, and it came stained with a coat of urethane on it, but my dog on the water side it all came off most of it and so I went out and bought steel wool and sanded it all down and stained it again but the stain only adhered to where I didn’t really send it. Is there a reason why? And since it looks all messed up, should I send it all the way down again with sandpaper this time or shall I paint it give me some advice. Thank you.
I always do at least a light sanding before I stain. In my experience it seems to help for a more even finish without splotches or "blobs" of darker areas.
Quest for everyone here, is there an all in one product to stain and protect from rain? I have a bar and a tony bit of it might hit the side of the bar?
Yes, search sealing stain or something on google, I was in the store the other day and saw some but I can’t remember what brand it was, I think it said weather seal maybe. If you search sealing stain I’m sure it would come up.
You can use any roller but use one that u think you can do more progress when you apply, try to use one used or make sure your new roller don’t let small things on the wood
Adding a poly topcoat (I've had the best luck with 2 thin layers) is going to last you for quite a while if taken care of correctly. I would lightly sand out the water rings with a high grit 220 + sandpaper and then do the 2 thin coats of poly with a light sanding in between coats.
Do not shake the can you need to stir it shaking will cause bubbles
Bubbles dont matter with stain, they do however matter with polyurethane
Yeah that can says do not shake

That’s no freaking joke! I’ve watched video after video
It doesn't have to be complicated if the goal isn't to make a lasting finish
Looks good. Try sealing with a polyurethane on top of that. Makes the natural wood grain pop out
Stain needs a top coat for sure.
This was very helpful. Thanks man!
When I worked for a painting company as a kid my boss was always yelling ' get some fucking paint on that brush!!' lol but he was right

Really? I just tested it and it’s a weird grey yellow.
Did you pre stain? Is it necessary to pre stain or is that an extra step

also wood conditioner for soft woods
It's only available in the usa
Dampen the wood first if.you don't have conditioner
Why do you like a roller over a brush? Why don’t you like the brush as much? Thank you
When staining, just get it on there as fast as possible so it takes more evenly. Then wipe off
How to remove the stain? My method was off and now it's too dark and blotchy.
Can you mix wood stain with beewax?
How simple was this? God give him a trophy. 😄These other people make it so difficult.🤦🏾♀️ it’s just not rocket science
Stir dont shake, you goon!
You a clown boy
Chill out
how do I prepare the wood before staining? do I need to sand?

Why you put stain if you had to take it out right away ?
Wiping it takes the excess stain off the table but leaves the stain that has soaked into the table.

Is there a special kind of roller you use?
You can use any roller but use one that u think you can do more progress when you apply, try to use one used or make sure your new roller don’t let small things on the wood
It says never shake. Stir only. No bubbles.
I have wood table and it stains whenever I put glass on it , does this prevent it ?
You need a coaster!
Or a polyurethane coat on top

How long do to wait to wipe the stain off?
Anywhere from 0 to 10 minutes depending on how dark you want the tone to be.
What’s your sealer?
Shaking the stain the way you did will cause bubbles....... you should use a clean stirrer
@@Menibor1 thanks brother
Stopped watching after you said shake
Never use roll for stain never never
You 😂don't shake minwax polyurethane U-Stir-It
That's the top coat which yes you don't shake, but stains you can shake.
Lost me at shaking.
