NOTE: this is me showing what happens when you buy something without doing research first! I'm showing all my mistakes in the hopes that you approach things smarter. Just because you can finally afford a 10m air pistol, doesn't mean you should just jump in, ignorance in hand. They can be quite different to other PCP pistols, requiring different fill adapters, and making custom grips. Use this video as a warning.
After nearly a year with my two PP20's l can say they have been very accurate and consistent when l checked them through my chronograph. l use one for 6 yd and 10 mtr targets and the other for our 20 yard competitions. Very similar to how my Steyr LP10 looked and operated although these have quickfill cylinders. Also the only way to dry fire is to cock the gun but lever is kept upward facing rather than pushed towards the nearly locked position, so not ideal as it interferes with sighting. Both palm shelves have been sanded down at the rear as grips are tight fitting. No leaks from either of them yet but spare O rings included with pistol so l daresay it will happen. The one issue l had was with a drop in velocity till eventually pellets were hardly hitting the target. On taking the grip off and adjusting the Velocity screw it would still slowly turn under firing as the small clamping screw didn't seem to hold it. To solve this l used blue Loctite on the Velocity adjustment screw itself, just used a cottonbud to smear a little around it and let it set for 24 hours. So far no further velocity drops and l take grip off every once in awhile to check the screw for movement, l took a photo when l first set them both up so easy to use as a reference mark.
"This will be a fun experiment!" A week later, "dear lord what have I done?" And in between my camera lost footage, and then the colour balance went all weird and... Yeah, sometimes things just go a bit haywire. Hopefully my little rant clears things up, as well as informs people who assume it'll be more convenient simply because it's a PCP. Anyway, thank you!
l have recently bought two of these Snowpeak PP20 Air pistols and both have quickfill cylinders , l've gambled a bit with these as they are an unknown quantity with little information around. Trigger is good and overall finish is good value for money. The grip is quite tight and l needed to sand down the palm shelf to make it a more comfortable hold. There is no safety catch which on a match pistol is not a problem. Accuracy has been okay but too soon to comment properly.
See, on mine there's a little latch on the left hand side of the gun, just above the trigger, very near the grip. If I rotate it clockwise, then the hammer doesn't hit the valve, and lets me do dry-fire practice, or basically a safety. The trigger is very nice, and why I'll keep trying to use it. The grip was indeed quite tight, but I wasn't sure if it was because it just felt alien in my right hand, so good to know that you found that to be the case, too. Thanks for commenting!
Sorry but I loughted with all the trouble you got yourself into... If only you were a 10m shooter or own a diver's bottle you'll know that the adaptor can screw directly on the diver's bottle... Any way.... What I am missing from your review is the number of shots, accuracy at 10m, & dry fire ability like competition guns... Thank you for taking the time to provide us a review for this gun which is absolutely unknown to airgun reviewers.
Hehe, yeah, "it was a learning exercise", kinda painful, but hey ho, now I know. I was going to include a shot count, but as mentioned, it sounded like it was exhausting way too much air per shot, so I've been investigating that. Also, I wasn't sure if anyone was interested in a lefty shooting right-handed for accuracy. But cool, if you're interested, I'll make a follow-up video soon!
@@MyAirgunPhase That's great... I own a few airgun pistols... α pp800 , a pp750 and a Steyr LP 10 which is my all time favorite. I find the pp20 as a direct copy of the LP10 and I was really thinking of owning one because it seems some parts are similar to steyr's (like the grip) and in that sense it may help to get a cheaper second gun for myself just to practice also my left hand aiming (with custom or Steyr left grip at around 180€). See, the Chinese pistols are great for people like me, who don't know about a certain aspect of a hobby, and can try before diving in further (I mean, I didn't even know how to fill it up!) I know there's credence in buying quality upfront, but I can't always afford that, so I use these cheaper guns as a way to see if it's something I'll enjoy enough to throw money at. In addition, even the Hatsan guns I've bought are 50/50 on whether they work and don't leak out of the box. So sometimes I feel like it's just luck at this point, and I just have to take a chance. Anyway, I'm glad you liked the video, even if it was coming from the ignorant point of view. Enjoy the Hammerli!
The new pp700 also would be very hard to remove the front cap if you don't first remove the front sight and then loosemd the set screw hiding underneath. Sounds like they've done the same thing with this one.
The front sight block on your IZH is on backwards. The sight should be angled backwards, not forwards. Reversing it will have less glare on your front sight. Does the PP20 have a velocity adjustment screw on the striker spring like the Steyr it copies?
Yup, it's got the same lockscrew and adjustment screw at the back as the LP10. As for the IZH, I was (as always) trying to see if a moderator had any effect on it, and stupidly put it on backwards, so thank you!

Lol why would you change the grip? It's sold as a target pistol identical to a Steyr LP10, so it's designed for 10m shooters, possibly find a 10m shooter and let them review it, rather than saying it has a problem not been able to mount a scope or moderator, that made me laugh. The cone on the front with the holes is a compensator to stop muzzle flip, It won't have a safety catch, it's a switch to turn it into dry fire mode for dry practice, As far as air adaptors go a Steyr 1/8 BSP from Best fittings will do away with most of that metal work, and don't use a hand pump moisture will kill your pistol, if your not a 10m pistol shooter don't review a 10m target pistol I say :)
I agree with you, really! But I was reviewing it as someone who ISN'T a 10m shooter, and who randomly thought, "I'll get into this!", without doing the mandatory research. Think of this video more of a warning for silly people like me. Also, I didn't call this a review, because it's not. It's simply my experience with it. I bought it full well knowing it was a right-handed grip, but I'm left-handed, and wanted to see how difficult it would be to swap out for one that's compatible. And it IS a safety catch, you can't pull the trigger once it's swung into place, so it's not for dry firing mode. I know just enough about 10m shooting to know the features they normally have, but I'm hesitant to sound authoritive on it, because I'm not. However, I still want to just try modify things, make them suit what I want from them.
I can't say exactly where the balance point is, because I've modified mine, but taking it into account, I GUESS that it balances where the cylinder screws into the body. And the air cylinder on both are almost exactly the same length it seems.
Yup, I still own it. But I have modified it a bit, which you can see in another video I have. So, the trigger is very nice! But it did leak, and the hammer spring was set too high, causing it to dump air when the pressure got too low. But both of those were easily fixed. However, I would hesitate to recommend it. It's double the price of the PP700-SA, and this PP20 isn't more accurate than it, despite having a nicer trigger. I wouldn't buy it again, put it that way.

@@duskozivkovic1310 From the base of my thumb to the other side of my palm is around 11.5cm I struggled to get my hand to fit comfortably on the grip, which is why I removed the bottom shelf of the grip. Why I wouldn't recommend it? I got too excited when I bought it, I didn't know anything about target pistols, or the filling adapters I'd need. The hammer spring was set too high, the cocking lever was a bit crunchy. So I just got disappointed, because TO ME it's a lot of money. Sure, it's half the price of a proper target pistol, so what was I expecting, right? But for that amount of money, I just expected more. (and I still don't understand why they couldn't make an easier filling method) So if it feels like it's something you want, and you can afford it, then enjoy! It might require a little bit of tweaking, but after that it works well, has a nice enough trigger, so party on!
I’m really confused as to why you’d buy a pistol without understanding all that stuff up front. I would have thought all the problems you had would gave come up in other reviews? And, why would you buy a gun from one manufacturer and want to try and fit bits from another manufacturer onto it? Maybe I’m missing something. I’m a total newbie to target pistols, and I’m avidly reading and watching everything I can about them just so I don’t end up in a money-pit situation. I’m really sorry for all your troubles you’ve had. I used to be totally impetuous and did exactly the same as you. Back then my cashflow could support that. Unfortunately now it can’t and I have to be a lot more careful. Good luck with whatever your next purchase is.
Hah, I addressed some of this in a comment just yesterday, maybe I should update the main description as I guess people are looking into getting into target shooting now! You nailed it: I had wanted a target pistol for ages, but couldn't afford the expensive ones. Then when I could afford this one, I jumped at it, assuming it would be like all the other airguns I'd gotten before. So I figured I'd make this video for other silly people like me, as a warning for people to research before they buy. It was an impulse purchase, then I was filled with regret, so decided to try make the most of the situation and resort to what I enjoy most: tinkering and modifying stuff. EDIT: Oh! Considering those decibels, I don't think a moderator idea was crazy. Many people want to practice at home indoors or backyard and those levels would not make for happy family members or neighbors. As for the naysayers about reviewing a 10m match, I wonder how many of these pistols are in the hands true match performers? Probably a tiny amount. I bet a ton of them end up in the hands of curious people like yourself. Nothing wrong with that. And I bet manufacturers want the curious and unwashed to buy their gear.
Not my best video, but handy showing what an inexperienced person goes through... but thank you! Shot count, the reason I didn't include this was because it was expelling way too much air per shot, and leaking overnight. I've just finished fixing that and will let you know "soon". It's weird though, because the cylinder is only slightly smaller than the PP700, which is 10J and gives me over 60 shots (I don't remember how many). But this PP20 is 7.5J, and it was chewing through the air, I imagine I'd only get around 25, or 30. So I'll let you know with the fix!
Right, so just filled it to 215bar, took 40 shots, and it's now at 175bar. The green on the gauge goes from 70bar to 250bar (its regulator is set to 70bar, and max fill is 300bar). So, maths says 180 shots in the green. But it's super easy to fill with a foot pump, that I keep it above 150bar.

A live and learn kinda thing, and sharing so others in the same position might be forewarned. I always wanted a "fancy" match pistol, but couldn't afford it, then when I suddenly could, well, I jumped at the chance without doing the diligent thing of learning beforehand.

How nose heavy are they? The PP700s-a are very nose heavy and not well balanced compared to all my target pistols - looks a bit long in the cylinder?
