I think Simone was indeed supposed to be Linn but since there are some legal issues with her since she's technically an Alien vs. Predator character (and both franchises were owned by FOX) they had to change her into a new character, hence why their designs are so similar. A shame, really, it would've been cool to see Linn in a crossover game alongside Cammy.
Trust me when I say that it's just one email away 😅 but they don't want to do it, Onimusha HD music is good on its own but holds no candle to the original OST, and that's due to property issues as well +1 from me by the way :D
Nathan Spencer (Bionic Commando) shown as part of the team in a card 'Anti-Machine Squad: AMSF' in Teppen. It can be found in the card pack 'The Cannon Spike Operation.'
Charming and creative. That was from a kind of transitional moment for Capcom, when they were moving on from old franchises but they still had their old high standards of creativity... and that's what produced DMC, Onimusha, Viewtiful Joe, etc after all. That was a magical moment for Capcom and gaming as a whole because not many companies were able to contribute with so many solid new games in such a short period. But when Capcom completed that transition they became a company of safe high standards projects that is tragically formulaic and uncreative... that image of "company of RE, DMC, MH and SF" that is well known today. It's very hard to imagine realistically another fun crossover like this one getting made today.
Not a bad idea but I'd much rather it focus on the core team. Something similar to the Gaurdians of the Galaxy game. Cammy is trying to get her polerizing team to work as a unit. Actually they could go a complete missions on other Capcom worlds similar to Captain N.
9:37 - That's a really cool call-back by Capcom. They designed that shadowloo "analysis screen" for Cannon Spike and brought it back all those years later in SFV.
As always, wonderful search process & unique prod video, bravo! The SFV team could have been fans of Cannon Spike... The Kinu Nishimura artworks are crazy for this game ! ❤ It gives the game a unique and special touch, even more assured and stronger than in Cyberbots ++
Oh my god. I fucking loved Battle K-Road. It's so jank, but it was so fun once you got the hang of it. Psikyo really did have some gems in their lineup.
This game has a sub boss who reminds a lot of Dragunov from TK and seriously made me question if Harada copied the idea... or if that's just referencing someone i don't know. Anyways that would not be the first copied idea, because this game, also from 94, had a bear character months before the TK debut.
Man I played this game on the Dreamcast as a kid. Loved using Megaman, this game was so dope. Really miss when Capcom used to make unique games like this
That was the transitional period between the old and the new Capcom, when it was still a versatile company full of creative drive and the artistic talent to make it happen. By 99-00, games like Rival Schools, Power Stone and Breath of Fire were still around. But in the mid and late 00s Capcom became too focused on high standards projects because of the success of RE and DMC, and gradually less interested in older games, and simpler games, and new ideas in general. I really miss that Capcom from the 90s and early 00s... probably the strongest creative pillar of gaming in that period, even a little bit above Nintendo in my opinion.
Ever since Cannon Spike, I thought that Cammy should've been the rep for Mvc over Chunli & Ryu. She leads a team whos members crossover multiple franchises -- Perfect for MvC! Also Nash really needs to be retconed as Captain Commando. It would make him Capcom's version of Robocop. They even both 'die' in a similar way.
Megaman became reduced to crossover character. His presence in SSBU helps to keep his memory alive better than anything done by Capcom. Sad times for him.
True. Have you heard of a game on the 3DS called project X Zone? It has so many characters, if that was a proper fighting game it will be a dream cone true 😅 well to me atleast.
@@nash_3sb.mukhaini713 At this point the lack of interest from the companies in reviving that crossover pushed me to give up my fg fan pride, and now i'm accepting anything new. Action rpg, pure action, beat em up, etc (just not a mobile game please). Years ago i was still dreaming of a modern fg version of the crossover but it seems unlikely sadly. And the disappointing part in this story is that the market probably has never been so warmed up for crossovers as nowadays, and we have even reached the point where most fg franchises have guest chars. That would be a natural progression from SFxTK and could have been something big.
@@Wolfedge75 Yeah. The strongest factor that never leaves my mind is the Megaman situation. Like the game is easy to make, not expensive, formulaic, and the own community doesn't even want big changes... Still Capcom stopped caring. Don't even bother outsourcing. So what are the real chances of everything else that is much less famous than MM? Capcom became too focused on RE, DMC, MH and few other high standards projects. We are lucky that Ono convinced the higher ups of reviving SF, because even SF was buried for some years after Third Strike. They started looking down on all classic games, which don't make the money of those elite franchises. Very frustrating situation for any old school player who was into the old Capcom catalog.
Cannon Spike and Sonic Adventure 1&2 both, with Project Justice, Spiderman, Tech Romancer, along with Power Stone 1&2 are my happiest childhood memories on the Dreamcast, I'm so lucky that I owned one with elite games growing up 🥹🧡 I prefer the Japanese version of Tech Romancer for the intro alone 😍
I absolutely LOVE the way capcom have created this world of characters that exist and interact unilaterally though all their games. It's very unfortunate that, as a british xbox-er, I couldn't play 95% of their games.
I honestly never knew who the last two characters were, so this explains a lot! hopefully one I can track down someday played a few games of it via emulation it's a pretty fun ... run and gun? not exactly a shmup since it's like room based. but either way this was definitely enlightening!

Hey, desk, your background music is too loud for this video. If I set the volume so that the music stops short of being painful to my ears, I can just barely hear anything in the video game footage. Great video otherwise.
Maybe in a retro release. But if you mean a revival with a sequel? Or a spiritual successor? Almost impossible because Capcom isn't interested in these games anymore unfortunately.
One other note about Cammy's Cannon Spike outfit: It features select colors from her appearance in Super Street Fighter II: Turbo. Mainly colors 2, 3, 5, and 10.

They need to make a Cannon Spike 2 with the same characters but adding in more from RE, DMC and other Capcom franchises.

Nathan Spencer would be a perfect fit for Cannon Spike 2 (preferably his classic or Re-Armed incarnation)
Jill from RE and Regina from Dino Crisis would be perfect.

Didn't knew bout the hidden Cammy costume until now, thank you! Hopefully Capcom adds this in a future collection, preferably along with Techromancer.
The hidden costume increases her damage output as well as the damage she receives I believe. Been like 20 years

Capcom really needs to rerelease this game. And make a sequel with characters from Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, Strider Hiryu, Saki, and Frank West.

Didn't Vega get a Fallen Balrog costume too? Or was that a mod?
