When you asked them a question, they weighed many things in their mind before answering. They viewed the implications and practical aspects of what they were teaching. No glass towers here. Both were exceptional men, deep thinkers, living in the world, and teaching as a hobby.

Its just lack of imagination to build skyscraper after skyscraper and a highway going through. It would be more eco-friendly and save lot of gas if there were systems for natural movement. Ancient times had great cities using natural ways of cooling and shade.
Of course it helped that for over 100 years before the discovery of oil in the region, Dubai was a trade hub with a well established free market economy.
A very small trade hub, to be entirely fair. Dealing in pearls (aside from local consumption goods), mostly, until Japanese competition crushed the local pearl industry. Dubai in the 1820 wasn't even the largest settlement in the coast. Ras al-Khaima was the center of power at the time. The trade hub of the Indian Ocean in the 1800s were Aden and Bombay. Bassora as well, to some extent. Dubaï was just a halt on the way. As to describe pre-industrial arabia a s a "free market", It is a considerable anachronism, and one quite far away from the actual historical situation.
When visiting Saudi, compared with the UAE, the difference in quality of the construction is striking. The UAE is so much more competent at getting stuff built its amazing.

Melt the butter: In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Add sugar: Stir in the granulated sugar until just combined. Transfer to a mixing bowl: Remove from heat and pour the mixture into a heat-proof mixing bowl. Add eggs: Stir in the eggs, one at a time. Incorporate dry ingredients: Stir in the cocoa powder, salt, baking powder, and vanilla extract until well combined. Fold in flour: Gradually fold in the all-purpose flour until no streaks remain. Add chocolate chips: If using, fold in the chocolate chips. Spread the batter: Spread the brownie batter into a parchment-lined 9x13-inch baking pan. Bake: Bake for approximately 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter). Cool and cut: Let the brownies cool completely in the pan, then cut into squares. Tips: For extra fudginess, slightly underbake the brownies. You can add nuts (such as walnuts or pecans) if you like. Serve with a dusting of powdered sugar or a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

And if politics were amoral, why would there be Millennium Development Goals in the UN, like eradication of extreme poverty.

Socotra has unique ecosystem and vegetation only native to this island. UAE as it does plans to turn the whole thing into a resort. Plus its position makes it a good strategic naval base. Just his accent that is, seems to be getting more and more Americanized. 😅 Anyways, keep up the fantastic work I greatly appreciate it.
As an Emarati, I can tell you that the comparison to Sparta is quite laughable. Spartans gained power through military might and conquest based on a militaristic, highly disciplined society that doesn't tolerate weakness, luxury, or diversity. We are so submerged in luxury, opposed to traditional way of life (unless it is superficial in which case we love our Abayas, Shilas, Gutra, Igal, Kandora, Bisht, Lukaimat, Khameer, Betheethah, Karak,..,etc), impressed with everything foreign and are very, very WEAK (in all ways that count). We represent 10% of our country's population. Our scientific and academic development is terrible for what we have. We have no freedom of speech or expression. Conflict wise we have not entered a war since our state was created and those skirmishes we had were always to our detriment (our attempts to regain our islands from Iran and war on the Houthees is an example). And our economy is still overly dependent on Oil as central source of income decades after our founders passed away. If anything, the only resemblance we have with the Spartans is that we try to hit above our weight but rely on a finite resource to do so. This hitting is done indirectly via proxy war and militias. Otherwise we have nothing to compare us to Sparta, Spartans, Greeks, Persians, Arabs or Europeans...we are just a product of our times.😢

Of course it helped that for over 100 years before the discovery of oil in the region, Dubai was a trade hub with a well established free market economy.
was and its still
A very small trade hub, to be entirely fair.

Anyway heres a brownies recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
4 large eggs
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup chocolate chips (optional, but highly recommended)
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Tips:
For extra fudginess, slightly underbake the brownies.
You can add nuts (such as walnuts or pecans) if you like.
Serve with a dusting of powdered sugar or a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
Wow how useful!

What do you mean un-bias?
I don't think I fully agree with the statement "Politics, after all, has no relation to morals." Yes, there are mechanisms that help to approach a situation rationally, but there is a contradiction to be found in Shirvan's narrative. For example, one could argue that Arab solidarity with Palestine is not in the interest of Saudi Arabia. And if politics were amoral, why would there be Millennium Development Goals in the UN, like eradication of extreme poverty.

Someone here have absolute zero idea about Israeli politics... there's NO WAY israel is returning to Gaza.
The UAE involvement in Yemen was part of a wider strategy for them to gain a foothold on the island of Socotra (think it's spelt right), they seem to have a wider plan to make it a regional hub I think as a resort.
Socotra has unique ecosystem and vegetation only native to this island. UAE as it does plans to turn the whole thing into a resort. Plus its position makes it a good strategic naval base. For now they already have a base there and de-facto owns the state. They even bought the people's loyalty by throwing cash. After that they pulled out of Yemen mainland. Truly the end justify the means for the Emiratis.
@@sadafhusain2059 I hadn't realised they had got such a hold on it. I will admit the depth of my knowledge comes from a single documentary on TH-cam a while back.
