Brilliant! Thank you so much. Can't believe how quickly I managed to get signed up and transfer an upcoming challenge route to my Edge 500 following your very clear instructions.
Good, clear information - might be worth mentioning you can export .tcx files from Strava as well. The level of detail here is very helpful, especially the note to copy the file to 'new' rather than 'courses' in the Garmin, as the device will automatically convert it to a readable (.fit) file there, and it will then appear on 'courses' in the 'training' menu.
Excellent video. Going to try some new jeep and single tracks I picked up on Google Earth and this will help. Coldest day of the year predicted for tomorrow in Johannesburg, South Africa :-)
Congrats. Yes I cover that in the video. Plug in the Garmin and it should mount to your desktop where you can drop the files. In ridegps.com I cover this.

Wow, thanks for the tutorial. Woodstock blog pics are really cool. I'd love to ride the east coast someday.
I had no idea this was possible. Gonna try it right now!
Fantastic Explanation--thank you.

Thanks man, you made that easy.
Thanks for the tutorial!
If you're on a data screen and come up on a turn, does the screen change or anything?
Does the Edge 500 also track the route as you ride (like in regular mode) or it just guides you on your preset route?
roglius yeah it will have a virtual partner and a que as you move on the map.
Great - thanks for your time - it worked just fine
Thanks for this bro, I got my 500, what is the easiest way to download gpx ride and transfer to tcx for Garmin, is this possible?
