I did but it just adds it to your Strava routes so that Strava can use it a bit like a personal segment. I’m not sure you can use it to navigate via Strava.
Hi I need help in the same. I have a Garmin 1080 device which connects to my phone and gives me notifications while riding. However for the last 10 rides it refuses to transfer rides onto the Garmin connect app & I can’t find the history of the ride in the device. Can you kindly advice me on to what should I do next. Thank you.
Hello. I've just downloaded this app as just bought the Garmin edge 520. The app on my phone doesn't have "more" at the bottom right hand corner. They may have altered/updated the app - or im being a bit blonde!
AAAAAWESOME!!!! Thanks a lot mate! I feel like a proper new bee... been using garmin edge for ages and only discover this option! thanks a lot for this video!
Thanks for the great video! I'm looking at getting the Garmin Edge 530. Once a course is uploaded to the Edge 530 and I start the course this would provide me with turn by turn directions, correct? Or would I have to continually look at the map on the device?
Hi Leonard. I agree with your comments and those if your viewers that if is inflexible to a point of making the precise route you wish, that is without the need to start up a desktop, Hopefully Garmin will work in this as a future feature and allow us to go from chosen points in order to create our ideal course.
I think it is sort of useful at a push. Several times I have been in situations where I have been away from home and not known the roads. Having something that could produce a simple no nonsense route would have been kind of useful. it would have been even better if I could have edited that route, though.
Once the app has calculated your route, if you press the options button (bottom right) blue circle with 3 lines, you have the ability to add course points, view details, change map view and -re route if you're not happy with it.- also this is available straight from your head unit on an edge 820. Edit: re route only works from the app if you change the direction.
Just got my 1st cycling computer, Edge 1000. What i want to know is Audax permanent rides. When the organiser sends you the route, presume into my gmail. How to get into Garmin Connect & Edge?
Garmin map is garbage, my edge 1030 always takes me onto the freeways instead of dedicated cycling paths (that runs parallel to the main roads but about 50m from these freeways)
Wow, that sounds fairly pointless - not your video obviously @Leonard, but the route creation via Garmin! "Your" route created doesn't keep to the length you specified AND you can't even edit it?! WTF. So, choosing or creating your tour via Komoot and Co and then transferring it to the Garmin seems the only practical solution. Thanks for the info though! Good to know for when I finally get a Garmin Edge 1030 or a Wahoo Element...
Planning a route via Garmin on the Desktop also offers all options that you would need for planning an individual route. Route planning on the smartphone itself is truly a rather 'gimmicky' feature...
HI Steph, I kind of agree with you, it is a bit pointless. I travel a fair bit and go to places that I don't know but knowing that I have this app that can give me a route straight away is slightly useful. Its better than nothing, anyway. When I have used the routes created by other people I have had to navigate to their starting points which has been a bit of a pain.
I wish I saw this video first. The first 2 minutes of it steered me correctly. Thankyou.
I didn't think Garmin routes were comparable or transferable to Strava, very useful thanks Leonard.
I don’t know if that is possible or not but this is showing you how to transfer a course from Garmin connect to a Garmin cycling computer.
@@jollygoodvelo I thought you said the star symbol dd the route to Strava@ 3.45
I did but it just adds it to your Strava routes so that Strava can use it a bit like a personal segment. I’m not sure you can use it to navigate via Strava.
@@jollygoodvelo Thank Leonard will try it out when I get to my bike and computer next week.

Thanks Leonard, a useful option which I didn't know was available. These smart phones get more useful by the day, no wonder people are glued to them!
Indeed!

Leonard, thanks for sharing. I had no idea this functionality existed.
Glad you liked it.
Very helpful thanks

Once the app has calculated your route, if you press the options button (bottom right) blue circle with 3 lines, you have the ability to add course points, view details, change map view and -re route if you're not happy with it.-

I did look in to that while I was making the film but all the course points do is add a point of interest, it doesn't allow you to edit the route.

How to get into Garmin Connect & Edge?
I would imagine it would come in the form of a .fit file. You’ll need to add it to your routes in Garmin Connect on a computer. (Not on a smartphone)
clear video. Efficient communication, well done !
Brilliant. Thank you.
thank you!!
Very useful, easy to follow.
Glad to help.
