Good job Joe. These scammers take advantage of the elders, i am 69 and few years they called me that they were going to turn off my electricity cause i was behind. You sure deserve a thumps up. You got it.
If you can, for starters...don't answer calls from ph numbers you don't recognize. Your friends /family will leave you voice mail or text you. Then block the numbers for any future calls. Do not answer any calls that show unknown # or no caller ID. Hope this helps.
I tell all my personal business people and my family that I do not answer my phone due to all malarkie scams and spam risk ect. There are other means to contact me. If not by text then you have my address so please understand nothing personal but contact me other ways besides a phone call. I keep my phone turned down for a good reason. Understand and respect me for my decision it is nothing personal what so ever. My choice alone.
100% agree. Plus I switch off my cellphone unless I need to use it. Anyone trying to reach me should sms or use the Internet. As an added safety, I have a separate cellphone just for banking transactions and nothing else. And that phone is always powered off until I need to do Internet banking connections. I buy the cheapest phone. No need for the most expensive, latest model. My best protection...Power Off. Power On only when I need to. The biggest weakness is to keep the computer and hp powered on especially the hp.
Ghosty144 , me too, l don't know them , l don't answer and just add them to reject list , l have an app that let's me know from other members of the community if they are a scammer.
What most people forget is that any real notifications will be mailed. My wife and I are both receiving calls from a scam collection company who say they can help us with a large bill from around 2012. They're using multiple phone numbers, even some numbers local to us. We did in fact incurr that bill back then but has long since been resolved. Where the scam comes in is that they tell us the bill is still pending without resolution and they'd be happy to "help" us with it by making payments to them. This company has many registered complaints against them yet they continue to bother and victimize people without interference from law enforcement. There's a phone app called truecaller I think which can help individuals in these cases.
Also be aware of scammers leaving a message because I've been getting calls from Iowa and California saying to avoid prosecution is to call the number back they give you , I never have been to Iowa , Let alone California , I never answered the call but I got the same message with the same tone of voice from both states , I googled the area codes after the calls to find out what state it's coming from , All robocalls , I immediately block them , SO BE AWARE OF SCAMMERS LEAVING MESSAGES , Scammers are starting to leave messages to make themselves look legitimate , Whatever company they say they're from , Call The Three B's The Better Business Bureau to find out more
Remember to be extra careful when you are stressed or sick or running on empty. We all get thousands of scam calls but it only takes one to loose it all. Be safe people.
I just received a scam call which claims to be from my cable provider. The scammer said she could help me to lower my TV cable bill. She had a very strong Indian accent. I called my cable provider and the representative confirmed that they don't make this kind of phone calls to customers.
Remember we can’t even get hold of the cable company to talk to a live person when we need them. Therefore any call from cable company will be suspicious.
@@amycaprari9951 Unfortunately one may never know. Darwin's checked out of this society lol 😆! 4 years ago, I think the majority still falling for this may have been the elderly or foreigners (which is why I wrote the comment). Regardless, those who prey on the weak are true bottom feeders.
They have called me with this irs call and threaten that I might be arrested if I do not return their call. So funny. Ive always known that irs contacts you by mail.
I got a few of those “yes” scam calls. One time when I got the call he asked if I could hear him. Knowing it was a scam I immediately answered “NO” 😂😂. He then immediately hung up on me. 😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉👍👍👍
I got that call too... He said: Can You Hear Me?, I said Can You Hear me Me?, cause if you can, then listen to this: Go F***** Yourself You Shit-loaded Piece of Ass!!!!!!!!!!!. Never heard that scam call ever again..... But these Fuckers still keep trieng, so be aware... They may try something new...
Face it. To some people, this is their job. While you're sleeping they're on the computer figuring ways to steal your money. I had an account with a mail order company and found out that their " reps" were in other countries, ( you could tell by the accents). I never knew where my payments were going. I stopped ordering stuff.
@@guineapiglady2841 You should keep an eye on them. My mom doesnt want to be rude to people and engages them or opens the door to anyone who wants to see what she looks like.
Remember everyone, it is perfectly legal to NOT ANSWER YOUR PHONE when it rings! As many have stated, in this thread along with thousands of others, if you do not recognize the name, or it lists no info on who is calling, you are not required, or obliged to answer the phone. Also, as stated, if it is important, they will call you back, or find another way to contact you. If by chance you do happen to answer, end the call immediately! Power to the people!
@@rocioaguilera3555 and call the number on bank website or back of card etc… they ready very clever. And caller id can have bank name… and number they give u can answer in bank name….
Such a shame.they focus a lot on seniors. Try to get them confused. Believe a special place is reserved for them in he'll . thanks for the video and info. In Hell
Please keep us up to date on the latest scams. Thank you so much! I will be sharing this vid with all my elderly family member as they seem to be the target of most scams.
I keep answering questions w questions or asking them to repeat themselves over & over. I hardly get a spam call any more. Used to get many many a day. Ticks them off so bad lol.
@@rosaleebrooks482 I used to have a police whistle, the ones with the ball in them. I would say hold on somebody at front door, grab that whistle and a very big breath and......hahaha I always wondered how many people got their hearing damaged...
I had the star code thing. I think mine was something along the lines of the “can only call once”. I told them, “well, tough luck my friend” and went back to playing my game.
Bless your heart *BanninkSolutions* . Its so sad how the scammers prey on the elderly and the uninformed public. Bless you and all others who fight against these crimes. Its horrible how mainstream media is not doing the right thing by shining light on these things to help the publiccc!!!
Honestly, he's an amazing person. He uses his time, moves and basically his life into helping less fortunate people. Using an excellent money recovery model as well in making profits, he is still doing it out of his own heart. Love from England!!!!
Dear *BanninkSolutions* , I am 70, poor, widowed, and in bad health. It is so refreshing to see someone having their way with the scammers for a change. Some of them did my dear departed wife some harm years ago. I feel a little better now, knowing you are leveling the playing field. Thank you and God bless your efforts on our behalf!!
The effectiveness of *BanninkSolutions* is extraordinary. Providing comprehensive walkthroughs from multiple perspectives on the issue, all captured on video with unique content for each topic, presented by a diverse array of individuals within the larger event, is both engaging and refined. It is remarkably impressive how a complex topic is made so easily understandable. Your work is exceptional.
Michael Galle I don’t answer, and then I block the number. I also use the “Mr. Number” app that has cut down on the majority of the calls even getting through.
When our phone rings, we look at the Caller ID...If we don't recognize the number then we don't pick up the call. The caller can always leave a message on our VM.
And you should put a block on those phone numbers so they can’t keep calling you back. I started doing that a few years ago and I hardly get any scam calls now.
There has been a lot of spam calls and I get a lot of spam calls. It's getting worse and worse! This is getting out of control! There's no control of this and it's getting very annoying! Sometimes when I am waiting for a call from someone,it doesn't show up on my caller ID... So now I guess I'll see if they leave a message because there is no government laws to stop these damn Spam calls these days!
Why does EVERYTHING require a law? Even if there was one, how can the government do anything about it if they dont know who is calling you or when the caller is outside the US where that stupid law means nothing? Besides, why do you think the government even CARES about your piddly issue? Thre is one surefire control and its in your hands. Just hang up the phone. Its THAT easy to stop from being scammed.
You say CAN YOU HEAR ME. when they respond...you say ....YOU MUST SPEAK INTO THE PHONE....they shout and you say....NO NEED TO SHOUT BUT YOU GOT MY ANSWERING MACHINE....see how pissed they get
I got two calls this past week from "Social Security Administration". They were clever in having a program announcing "Social Security Office" on call back and even have a little spiel about scammers on the scam call. Best idea: hang up, don't answer. Eventually they will never be able to get through to a human. Kind of like what we experience trying to get customer service.
The "yes" scam is probably one of the oldest. They were doing that years ago, not long before cell phones came out. Never answer "yes" to questions from telemarketers or strangers calling.
Those calls are coming all hours of the days and night! They can even bypass the "Do Not Disturb" feature on your phone. I'd have to turn my phone off every night. The scammers will most likely find a way to force your phone on!! These scammers need to be caught and procsecuted!!!
Another Indian scam? These people make me sick. But the guy was right - be careful how you answer - and as soon as it sounds dodgy just hang up. There are a lot of these videos on TH-cam and I always reply - just hang up. I'm very annoyed that they don't talk about investigating these scammers. What about people (i won't call them gullible) who just don't know and get screwed? I want to see some legal action against these predators.
Indian scam ?? Stfu i'm indian and i have been getting these calls from international numbers so that's why i'm here... i think it's called wangiri scam(japanese word ?)
@MADHAV NAIR SOSH Why is stating the obvious racist ? India may not be very top of the scammers league, that accolade probably goes to Nigeria, but they are up there, in the top five . There's nothing racist about that . It's really funny how a lot of them pick aliases with two male christian names, for example, John Peters 🤣 The dummy accents are hilarious, they just cannot get wid of them, can they 🤣
I keep getting calls about my fraud on taxes. They give me a number to call before the FBI arrests me. I do not call back of course and have never been arrested. I can imagine if someone cheated on their taxes it might scare them and they would fall for this scam.
I keep getting calls saying there's a problem with social security and someone is coming to put me in jail unless I contact that number and speak to a representative. There were 3 same day within an hour. My answering machine picked them up.
I get those calls about being put in jail, I tell them , So Be It.. They hang up just like that... I am old but very sharp and can figure them out and I have fun messing with them.. I don't get many of their calls no more cause they know they can't trip me..
That happened to me! A scammer called at exactly the time I was expecting a phone interview to call me. I tried to switch to the interviewer when they called but accidentally hung up on both of them. Oops! Fortunately the interviewer was very understanding!
To listen to some foreign twat calling from India who can't even speak English...... Very annoying when you're waiting to hear about a job you've applied for...👍
Scammer: "can you hear me?" Me: "what do you want?" Scammer : "can you hear me?" Me: "who's calling?" Scammer: "can you hear me?" Me: "well, what the heck you think? You deaf or something? You should not be doing THIS for a living if you can't hear!"
I’ve had the Australian Tax Office call me with that exact scam. Another told me there was a warrant out for my arrest ( I was taken off guard) so I asked them for their details so I could speak to my lawyer. They hung up. I rang the number and it was disconnected. How do they do that? In the past I have said, “this is a restricted number for the Australian Federal Police…how did you get this number?” Then they are taken off guard.
Wow! Recently, I did receive a call where the first words I was asked was, " you can hear me okay, can't you?" Now, I am aware of this very scam and yet I froze, knowing full well that I would've given him an ear full, but in the nick of time I did remember this video (hooray, for me) and ended the call before uttering a word. That was a difficult thing to do, so thanks again, ThioJoe.
I've gotten this one several times: A professional American sounding woman recording says they have a special lower rate offer for your credit card. You press 1 and someone sounding Indian or Middle Eastern starts to explain how since you are an excellent customer, you are now eligible for a 3% interest rate, but he just needs to verify your VISA credit card number. I repeatedly gave him a fake number, and he kept getting frustrated saying it was invalid. I then said "well, you're Bank of America, don't you KNOW the right number? He repeated that he needed to verify it. I then told him to hold on while tried to find the right one card in my purse. And then I said "while you're waiting, please take this opportunity to go f--- yourself!" And I hung up.
They misuse the word Verify. If they’re verifying, they should give you the number! I got a bunch of these from a drugstore, American callers. About some fakatka “points” plan (where you wait 20 minutes in line while an old dear looks for her “card.” I never shop at those places.) Asked me to verify my dob. I said ok. Then they wanted me to give it. I refused. They’d put me on hold, come back saying, “Sorry Ma’am, we can’t do that.” I’d reply, “I didn’t ask you to do anything! You called me!”
Something else to be aware of is that if there is an obvious delay in the time that you answer the call and the response from the person on the other end - hang up.
This is a very useful video. I had a call from someone yesterday, and the first thing the caller said was "Can you hear me?" I hung up immediately. I have also warned my brother about this.
The new one is it'll be a robocall and they say something like "press 9 if you want to be removed from further calls". They're just seeing if you're a human. Pressing 9 will sign you up for the mass future spam calls.
We had a keylogger put on our computer by a scammer. I was in the IT field and feel embarrassed that this ever happened but trusting a large company was my mistake. My husbands Dell was under warranty so I told him to have Dell fix it because it needed a new motherboard. He called Dell Support and (to make a long story short) got a tech that talked us into getting on our computer and he put a keglogger on it. After going through 3 techs we finally got it fixed but now had to deal with all the problems. We had tickets to Elton John and he sold our tickets to someone else. We eventually were able to stay and watch the show from nose bleed seats. Ticketmaster refunded the entire amount. We ended up replacing the hard drives. NEVER EVER let anyone on your computer remotely. This guy had an Indian accent and I was Leary about it but I trusted Dell. Doing research I found that Dell knew for many years that they have hired scammers but don't do anything about it.
I have Do Not Disturb turned on ALL the time and set to only allow contacts to ring through. If a number is logged and they didn't leave a message I'll block the number. I've done this on every phone I've had for over a decade.
@@donotneed2250 .. I do that also and tjis phone ive got now will show "" scam likely , scam risk, telemarketing, private " when the phone rings. It misses some and i just go block that number afterwards.
DON'T ANSWER......IF IT IS SOMEONE, ON YOUR PHONE CALL LIST......they'll leave a voice mail....or ' get back '' to you. NEVER answer, any UNKNOWN numbers....
I'm in the UK but got one of the Microsoft scam calls a couple of years ago. I played with the guy for a bit then told him I wasn't technically minded but my son was. Told the scammer I'd get my son but he wouldn't be too happy as he was a police officer and had just come off duty. The scammer slammed down the phone and so far has never called back. Had a scam call today. Recorded message from "BT". I don't have BT. I promptly hung up.
I’ve watched Trilogy Media videos about scammers so I really want to mess with them the next time. I do get scam calls that are auto bots that then takes you to an actual person. If you mess with them and irritate them, basically wasting their time, they get so pissed and never call you back. Ignoring the call doesn’t always work. They keep on coming. Waste their time.
+Kaitlyn Montgomery Wasting their time and insulting them has no effect. They repeatedly call back anyway (my caller ID has shown 'APPLE INC' several times over the last couple of weeks even after my insults provoked them into cursing me into the bowels of Hell.)
still. i literally have no one to talk to on my phone anyway, so since they love to waste people's time i want to do the same. plus i got scammed close to $1,000 by tech support scammers so this is my revenge
"Grunt." "Whut?" "Justaminnit." Mute then lay phone down and leave it until they disconnect. If the caller is an actual human, "Just a minute" can have him hanging on for a few minutes. Waste his time not yours.
Great vid. I once got a call from someone claiming to be from the IRS. I live in the UK and we don’t even have IRS in this country! He told me I had to pay a fine and to send Amazon gift vouchers to pay for it 😂😂😂😂
Good advice, I just watched a scammer try and tell a man they had to cut his social security card off, lol. He played along for about 15 minutes till he couldn't take anymore. But some gave found creative ways to get back at them.
The 'yes' one is very frightening to me right now because I'm applying for jobs. If someone just asks 'can you hear me?" I'll remember to not say 'yes' but so many of the companies call and ask "is this...?" I have to remember to say "this is.... speaking" instead of 'yes'. Thank you for the info for the star numbers. I'll be sure to pass this along. We have a few aunts and uncles in their 80s we like to keep abreast of everything as scammers love to prey on seniors.
They can also call impersonating FBI agents or police officers and threatening you. They will usually try to make you wire them money to supposedly avoid jail time for some minor offense. It sounds kinda legit until they mention you driving to the bank right away.
@@scarletfluerr If it's a friend, they know the drill. Doctors offices will leave a message. If it's not important enough to leave a message, it's not important enough for me to worry about.
5:01 I got a call like that and "did" the whole thing they told me too. then they said,"what do you see?" I reply, "wait, was the computer supposed to be on?" just a little fun for those who get that crap.
Got the IRS scam call. Yup, when they got to the threat portion, I just said my lawyer loves easy money. He got nervous when I asked for his address. Make more like this
I just answer the question in a different way in case it's something important. Example: "Can you hear me?" "I hear you." "Are you the head of household?" "I am the head of household."
"I can hear you! I can hear you! The rest of the world hears you! And the people -- and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon!"
We have gotten the IRS Scam many times. So one day my wife gets this call and she says: "Who?". Of course, the explanation starts and she says: "You're going to call the police and have them come and arrest me?" (DUH) "Will you tell them to hurry?" (The other end goes very quiet) Then the guy asks if she really wants him to call. She says: "Yes. It has been so hectic around here lately that I need a rest and with free room and 3 meals prepared by someone else, it is a deal I don't want to miss. Please send them quick." Then she heard the telltale sign of a scammer - click. I mean, the dumbas didn't even realize that there is no IRS in Canada. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is the equivalent.
Here's my favorite. Regardless of what they ask you, start moving the phone slowly away from your ear and mouth. Since they are on a headset, they will keep turning up the volume, when you get to the point that they truly cannot hear you, literally put your mouth ON the receiver and yell I CAN HEAR YOU, WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?!!
A new twist on the Microsoft scam call is someone claiming to be from a tech support company will call. Same scam. I once got a call just like this and knew immediately it had to be a scam because I didn't have the internet at the time. So I asked the caller to please explain to me how my computer could have been communicating with them when I didn't even have the internet. Oh, and the funniest Microsoft scam call came when my computer wasn't working and wasn't even hooked up!
I keep getting many scam calls everyday from the same people named Conner and some other person saying that I’m on a recorded line and that they see I was supposedly on their “website”searching for jobs and I know they are scammers. It’s too obvious and sounds unprofessional. I just hang up. I blocked their number yet they’re still able to contact me.
if I don't recognize or know number calling me..NO ANSWER !! I believe in keeping my personal security secure....and I don't do any online banking or shopping so no personal info there....
funnily enough I do the same and it came up at a weird time. My grandma was visiting and I was warning her about phone scams like these 9luckily shes not gullible) when an unknown caller got my phone. I didnt asnwer, sure it was a scam like my story! Turns out it was my grandma's friend, who my grandma gave my number to, so we could all communicate and my grandma could meet her for lunch :P I had to apologize for being a jerk and not picking up five times.
Don't fall for the "Apple" or "Microsoft" technician scam, either. They sometimes use a number that is unrecognizable and/or "Private Number/Unknown Number", "800 Services" I do not answer those phone calls, either. They'll fix your computer all right, even though it isn't broken; they'll put Malware/Ransomware on it, and make you pay $100-$1000 to get control of your computer back. How they get you is that they put a "Suspicious Activity Warning" on your computer screen, saying that you have to call a 1-800 number and it makes this horrible noise until you turn the computer off. This scam comes from Dallas, TX, but I've heard they have them all over the US and the world. People should be able to get their money back. When I switched to an Acer computer a couple of years ago, I never got the "warning" again. It's a sort of computer that searches out the bad sites so you don't have to have protection on it.
Banks in the UK will call if they suspect fraud on your account BUT they will go through security first (even if they've called you) and will NEVER ask for your full account numbers or passwords. If I had not taken that call, I wouldn't have identified the fraud on my bank account and stopped it. I got all my money back, luckily!
Do a vlog on land-line robo calls and how to made them stop. Sometimes contacting the FTC, National Do Not Call List and the phone company to file a nuisance complaint doesn't work when changing the phone number is not an option.

Thank you for this. I'm glad they are making people aware of these scams. We get about 6 scam calls a day. The first thing I do is look at my caller ID and pick it up and say hello but the minute they answer I can tell if it is a scam and I hang up.
When the real scammer is on the phone . I'll tell them your being taped by my husband who's a police officer . Boy they soon hangup fast . My Dad got a phone call about windows of the computer and my Dad said ... What windows .... I just put in seven new windows what are you talking about and he got mad and hung up . Some scammers phoning here talking about somebody using my card from Amazon . I use all the cuss cause they make a person so Godam MAD...
Don't ever believe anyone who tells you you have won anything! Especially large sums of money and a new Mercedes. My Mother had a friend well into her eighty's who fell for it and it cost her lot of money until her daughter found out about it and stepped in...they wanted cash for delivery, etc. Scammers!!
You didn’t mention that, depending on your provider’s settings, your line might stay “live” after hanging up so that when you call the genuine bank’s fraud number you could be talking to the scammer.
He mentioned that in a more recent Scam, something like 2021's New Scam list. That scam scared me, because I didn't know you can still be active with the Scammer even after hanging up and dial your real Bank's Phone number and still be speaking directly to the Scammer! 😱 But Posters on that video pointed out the Scammer wouldn't have the "Welcome To Bank Of America, we're pleased to serve you, please press 1 for English, 2 for Spanish, press 1 to enter your Account Number," etc. They'd just immediately say something like,"Hi, this is Robert King with Bank Of America, how may I help you?" Which is obviously NOT how a real bank starts right off the bat."
So, after you answer YES, what can you do to protect yourself after the fact? How many people who fall for it actually become victims? It's very hard not to answer YES to common questions at the beginning of a phone call. Do they normally know your name? Or is it more generic? I got one asking if I have National Health Coverage, or if I'm aware of National Health Coverage? Are there other "tells" now I'm so paranoid (';')( ';')... Thumbs UP on this video, thanks Joe!
My guess is that already now it's not enough. Once a scam is known it won't work anymore, this does make it harder for the legit people as well. But they will just have to bear it :P
deano because everyone always records any random call they get... this is just not realistic. Edit: also, in many jurisdictions, recording a call without consent is illegal/not usable as evidence.
To protect yourself after the fact, be honest and work with your phone company and ask for the number of other complaints for the same scam. Generally this is not a one of. The phone company in some locations has a fraud department. If you at first don't get a proper response, tell them to fix it or you are changing carriers. This generally gets wheels in motion as this is often supplemented by social media firestorms of carriers in partnership with a scam. Carriers will often go to lengths to keep out of the news or as a focus of social media backlash.
I had the Canadian version of an attempted IRS scam, where they claimed to be from Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). The thing is, just a week earlier I had just cleared up a mistake where CRA thought I owed them $18,000 (It took me 2 years to clear up!). I thought maybe one department hadn’t had time to let another department know the mistake was cleared up so I did call them back. But instead of the number in the voicemail I used the one in my contacts. Of course they reassured me everything was fine.
The CRA will NEVER call you out of the blue on the phone about any tax matters ! ONLY and UNLESS you initiated a call to THEM will they phone to discuss your matter.
@@aloisius4188 I do know that. But we had been having conversations for 2 years to clear up the misunderstanding. So it was reasonable for me to think that they could be calling me. I was one of the people the scammers hope to randomly hit. I just outsmarted them by using the number I already had on my phone instead of the one in the voicemail
I got the miscrosoft call before it was scary because my windows was actually having errors and everything and they were major so I almost fell for it! Thankyou this joe you saved me from answering them if they call a second time
If they say, Can you hear me? always say NO, if ask again, NO, continue to say NO. They probably know you can hear them, cause you can hear them well enough to know to answer the question.
So i got an "irs" call a few years back. I knew i didnt owe anything but the guy who called was saying if i didnt pay they would have me arrested in 5hrs... I asked for his employee id n he did give me a # but when i asked him to confirm my address or confirm my social he said he didnt have my information... Thats when i knew he was scam. I kept on asking for his info but he started to be rude n course me out until he got tired n hung up on me....
I'd be like, "Oh, the cops are already here" and stage a struggle / gunfight in the background, or even pretend like I'm walking to my local police station to turn myself in, and then stage a police brutality incident...
Have you seen the TH-cam video of the guy that received a message to call the IRS scammer? The guy called them back and pretended to be Jed Clampette of the Beverly Hillbillies. He was going to have to get Jethro to drive in down to the Commerce Bank to talk to Mr. Drysdale to get the money. It was hilarious and the scammer fell for it. He kept the scammer on the phone for about 20 minutes.
Exactly Ghosty, I am the same way. And what really makes me upset is these telemarketers clones phone numbers in the same era. But even so, I don’t answer them if I don’t regonize the number.
Very interesting and helpful. I knew of some of them, but am always interested in other ways to out-smart the scammers. Keep the videos and information coming!!
I try to be super careful about phone scams ~ especially since I do get a lot of these types of calls. I usually just hang up immediately as soon as the recorded message starts. But for those rare few times I slipped up and did respond with a "yes" in the beginning (before I was aware of the danger) I am so grateful for the fact that I only have a prepaid cell phone and zero credit cards! Yep, there is no way to incur charges without a credit card, and they certainly cannot charge anything to a non-existent phone bill... I don't know know why they even bother with me.
It's 2-12-18 and I had someone call me two times yesterday about me owing the IRS. It came from a 747 area code in California. Today, I got two from Zimbabwe. Don't answer Numbers you don't know. If it's important, they'll leave a message.
And the phone numbers that show up on caller-id are always spoofed. Sometimes it will be the same area and prefix as yours so you will think it is someone you know.
A couple times, I've gotten this super creepy scam call, I never found out what it is, but it starts out with a pre-recorded message and it doesn't sound recorded at first and it doesn't sound like a robot at all, it sounds like a live person. First, it starts out with some elderly American woman's voice that would be hard to discern if you know the person or not. The first thing they would say is just your first name in the form of a question. Clear as a bell and you think it's a real person. They got me the first with my saying "Yes?". Then it went on, with the same voice, with a chuckle and saying "You're harder to get a hold of than..." blah blah blah. I was still fooled at this point. I asked "Who is this?", I forgot what the next response was, but then I knew they got me and I hung up. That was the weirdest spam call ever. There was another one just like that, but it started with "Hello?" in a younger woman's voice and again sounded like a live person. After you respond back, they the same voice continues, saying she's having trouble with her headset and tries to adjust it. I hung up. I got both of those calls, with the same messages, but I wasn't fooled again and as soon as I heard my name called like that, or with that "Hello?" I would just hang up. I don't know what those calls are, but anyone get those? Cause those are creepy as hell, especially since it's all pre-recorded.
I got a spam call similar to that, but it starts off with a warm female voice asking how you are doing and you respond something like,"I'm fine, how are you? She chuckles warmly and says,"I'm fine too, glad to hear that you are fine too. Then all of a sudden, a Robotic voice asks you if you want to sign up for Medical Insurance! 🤨🧐 I did,"You're a Robot!" The other line hung up right after I acknowledged that this was a Robot and not a living human being! 🤣
make more videos like this!! Thank you, I use them to teach my senior family members - one of which fell for thinking it was really discover card calling - and you know it wasn't!
I received the IRS call that said I owed X amount of taxes [several times now] and if I did not pay right now, they were going to send the local police out to arrest me. The problem is that I used to work for the IRS and also was a state police officer for 21 years. I had also just filed my income tax form a couple of days before and knew I did not owe taxes. I knew that the IRS never called before sending a registered letter to the tax payer, and I also knew that the local police had nothing to do with enforcement of Income tax laws, and that was Federal enforcement. So I just hung up. It was really laughable. I do not answer my home home unless I recognized the number or name. All my calls go to voice mail.
A recording of you saying "Yes" tacked on to a question is NOT a legal basis for levying a charge and no court would uphold would such a charge. Indeed no honest bank would impose a charge on a basis of it.
Yep, took the words right out of my mouth. Good advice. 👍
They can spoof the 😮 number
I can hardly use my phone and I have had it for over three months how can people do these things
This is why I never answer the phone if I don't know who it is... If it's important, they'll leave a message.

Same, I will usually screen my calls and wait for voicemail. If it’s important I’ll call it back
Also be aware of scammers leaving a message because I've been getting calls from Iowa and California saying to avoid prosecution is to call the number back they give you , I never have been to Iowa , Let alone California , I never answered the call but I got the same message with the same tone of voice from both states , I googled the area codes after the calls to find out what state it's coming from , All robocalls , I immediately block them , SO BE AWARE OF SCAMMERS LEAVING MESSAGES , Scammers are starting to leave messages to make themselves look legitimate , Whatever company they say they're from , Call The Three B's
The Better Business Bureau to find out more
Remember to be extra careful when you are stressed or sick or running on empty. We all get thousands of scam calls but it only takes one to loose it all. Be safe people.
Lose not loose.
I just received a scam call which claims to be from my cable provider. The scammer said she could help me to lower my TV cable bill. She had a very strong Indian accent. I called my cable provider and the representative confirmed that they don't make this kind of phone calls to customers.
Remember we can’t even get hold of the cable company to talk to a live person
when we need them. Therefore any call from cable company will be suspicious.

They deliberately target elderly & disabled people.
Have your parents watch this vid.
Face it. To some people, this is their job. While you're sleeping they're on the computer figuring ways to steal your money. I had an account with a mail order company and found out that their " reps" were in other countries, ( you could tell by the accents). I never knew where my payments were going.
Social security. Hahaha. They take 2 months to answer back and by then you forget what the question was.
Social Security only communicates through the US mail. They never call, text or email. Period.
The "yes" scam is probably one of the oldest. They were doing that years ago, not long before cell phones came out. Never answer "yes" to questions from telemarketers or strangers calling.

Since they are on a headset, they will keep turning up the volume, when you get to the point that they truly cannot hear you, literally put your mouth ON the receiver and yell I CAN HEAR YOU, WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?!!
that would be fun.

Like Albert Einstein always said question everything.
if I don't recognize or know number calling me..NO ANSWER !!
I got all my money back, luckily!
you can investigate the language code of site, with right click on proceed button of card check, then see if there's any real information.
But your using a google service and bet you use dumb social media
Do a vlog on land-line robo calls and how to made them stop. Sometimes contacting the FTC, National Do Not Call List and the phone company to file a nuisance complaint doesn't work when changing the phone number is not an option.
I have contacted the FTC via email. They want to know about these scams! I think people think it’s not a big thing so they take it no further!
Hi. Please update the scams as you learn about them. It’s so easy to fall into a trap….especially the “yes” question. Thank you!
NEVER say yes.........................
It has never happened. It won't ever happen. No one can use your recorded “yes” to do anything to steal your identity. The idea is ludicrous.
Scammer : "can you hear me?"
Me: "who's calling?"
Scammer: "can you hear me?"
Me: "who's on first."
Scammer: "what?"
Me: "no, he's on second"
Scammer: "who?"
Me: "first base! You remembered!"
Scammer: "remembered what?"
Me: "what's on second."
Scammer: "I don't know..."
Me: "he's the guy on third!"
Scammer: "@#$%&!*&" abruptly hangs up.
Me: " some people just have NO sense of humor!"
Me hello can l help you - ANY strange voice ... bye.
IF ITS IN LONDON THE LONGER YOU ARE ON THE PHONE THE MORE IT COSTS YOU AS YOU ARE NORMALLY PAYING COLLECT. BE AWARE ...!!!
THIS CAN BE £2\3\£5 SO THE LONGER THEY KEEP YOU CHATTING THE MORE THEY CHARGE YOU
mamaboo cee hahaha!!!! Hilarious!🤣😂🤣😂
😳
Good one. I think I may try that myself.
😂😂😂😂😂😂 I love that one...lol
Thank you for this. I'm glad they are making people aware of these scams. We get about 6 scam calls a day. The first thing I do is look at my caller ID and pick it up and say hello but the minute they answer I can tell if it is a scam and I hang up.
EXCELLENT IDEA 👍
When the real scammer is on the phone . I'll tell them your being taped by my husband who's a police officer . Boy they soon hangup fast . My Dad got a phone call about windows of the computer and my Dad said ... What windows .... I just put in seven new windows what are you talking about and he got mad and hung up . Some scammers phoning here talking about somebody using my card from Amazon . I use all the cuss cause they make a person so Godam MAD...
Please call more scammers and make scams great again.
The Hoax Hotel There you are
The Hoax Hotel are you going to switch your channel at 1 million subs? That would be so sad
The Hoax Hotel Hey HH! How's it hanging?
Id like to see him talk to a scammer. Talk pure bull and confuse the brains out of them.
The Hoax Hotel LOL
My favorite one is the Social Security call claiming they have suspended your SS number and give a phone number to their legal department.
Yes, you should make more videos and include the annoying Apple support scams about the iCloud being compromised.
"Your Social Security Is About To Expire..."
🤣🤣🤣
😂😂only if dead!!!
Thank you so much for this. I’m old and didn’t know about any of these. Now, I’ll be so prepared.
Maybe you record what the scammer is saying, then the show that recording so he can not make am edited audio of your voice.
deano because everyone always records any random call they get... this is just not realistic.
T
Crazy spot on video man . Needed to show my elders this so they understand better.
Excellent advice and I praise your willingness to help others.
"Can you hear me?"
"I hear you"
"D:"
right? 😂
yea ikr easy method
Yemto :v
"Hey can you hear me?"
"no i can not hear you"
":|"
"Can you hear me?"
"はい!"
"Yes, hi. Can you hear me?"
"はい!"
"..."
"はい!"
*click*
I got the miscrosoft call before it was scary because my windows was actually having errors and everything and they were major so I almost fell for it! Thankyou this joe you saved me from answering them if they call a second time
It's crazy how these people get away with this. I don't answer unless i know who's calling
Please educate us with more of these videos. Helping those like me is also helping me help others.
If they say, Can you hear me? always say NO, if ask again, NO, continue to say NO. They probably know you can hear them, cause you can hear them well enough to know to answer the question.
I think they can even use "No".
I did that, kept saying No a bunch of times and the Indian guy got mad and yelled "you a beeeetch." hahaha Made me laugh.
Don't answer the call in the first place. I get these idiots a lot and let my machine pick up. That way I can vet all my incoming calls.
or just keep saying, "What?" "What?" "What??" heh-heh-heh
So i got an "irs" call a few years back. I knew i didnt owe anything but the guy who called was saying if i didnt pay they would have me arrested in 5hrs... I asked for his employee id n he did give me a # but when i asked him to confirm my address or confirm my social he said he didnt have my information... Thats when i knew he was scam. I kept on asking for his info but he started to be rude n course me out until he got tired n hung up on me....
Monica Flores Yeah. I have gotten that one so many times, too.
cussed not course Fix it! GN
@@suzycreamcheesez4371It's cursed * not cussed. That's a slang
If the caller goes "Is this [name of recipient]?", then respond with "It depends on who this is."
Most of my calls do not ever verify who they are talking with. And if they are already talking when I answer its a hang up.
I say what do you want or you called me you should know.
I got 15 robo spam calls' càble co blocked àll after 3 days
I never say yes, I always ask ‘why are you calling me?’
I would love to see more video like this! Fake or virus ridden internet websites would be a interesting topic to cover
Scammer: can u hear me?
Me: no i cant
"No, I can't" sound positive because you answered as though you could. Better response would be "What?" Or "Huh?"
They can even use "No" against you.
Just pick up the phone and don't talk at all.
Banana Split Lady they cant
I’m deaf
"can you hear me?"
"no"
"can you hear me?"
"no i cant hear you."
😆
make more videos like this!! Thank you, I use them to teach my senior family members - one of which fell for thinking it was really discover card calling - and you know it wasn't!
I always ask who am I speaking to. They hang right up.
If you get IRS scam calls, go to the IRS and let them call them.
