I got scammed on marketplace this weekend and am feeling really stupid and shameful about it. It was $450. I'm watching stories like this to make me feel less alone ❤ so thanks for sharing
@@Gboy767-o1v I mostly can't believe I fell for it!! I had no idea the scams were so pervasive on there as I'd only ever had good experiences. People really suck. But we live and we learn 😅
That sucks...sorry to hear this. I got scammed in February and I felt like an idiot as it was something that was ridiculously low priced. That should have been enough to send me looking elsewhere, but nope! Rule #1: If it looks too good to be true, it probably is. The good news is the transaction was through PayPal. I tried contacting the seller a few times and got no reply. Contacted PayPal and filed a claim. For whatever reason, I was expecting it was going to go nowhere and figured it was a $79 lesson. To my pleasant surprise, PayPal looked into it, notified the seller they have "x" amount of time to respond (I think it was two weeks), they didn't, and PayPal credited my account.I don't know why people hate on PayPal, they did me right! Fellow New Jersey-an here! Headed to Worthington this weekend. Glad the campgrounds are open once again (injury limits my backpacking right now), Stokes is great, but why not keep all the other campgrounds open year-round? Have you hiked the BATONA? Is it hammock friendly?
Hell yeah $300 is a lot of money. That’s a car payment, groceries, gas, a tent to go adventure with that you now can’t. People who scam hard working people are pond scum!
Ouch man. Sorry to hear. I wish there was some sort of avenger going after these scams, especially the ones targeting the elderly in the USA. They deserve far worse than getting some parts cut off and sent to other scam centers as a warning.
This girl kept asking if I had cash app I said no! Kept saying to get one blah blah blah. I told her I knew what she was up to. I said I’d you had all this money, yet no car , no house nothing. I cussed her out and told her to get a life
People are going away from PayPal because of scammers on both sides. John sells to Marty. Marty pays through PP G&S. John ships to Marty and Marty receives it then files claim and John for not receiving product. Marty now has his money and the product and John is screwed. That's the reverse scam.
I hadn't heard about the reverse scam, but as a buyer it has always been great for resolving disputes when someone tries to rip you off or sends something different than was purchased. I had to use it before.
I got scammed on marketplace for $100. I used Paypal G&S. The scammer blocked me so I couldn't message back. I filed and got my money back. This MF texted me at 2 am talking about why you filing a report? Lol. After he blocked me he changed his location from one state to another.
Even on eBay you need to be careful. Saw a good deal but had to pass because the seller had multiple negative feedback. Even with protection from ebay, not worth the stress of dealing with what could go wrong. Hope you will be able to be refunded. If not, hope you can move on as best as you can. Hope you can get a good deal on the tent you want.
@@SpiguyverBackpacking1 Definitely not you. The guy ghosted me on email and didn't respond on What'sApp. Tracking number still shows label created. That sucks; I hope you get your money back. My double wall tent is the BA Tiger wall 2 person. It weighs 2.5 lbs, semi freestanding, and if you buy the footprint that adds four oz. When I got mine I paid $400 and another $70 for the footprint. I think it’s a little bs to have to spend another 70 bucks when you’re already paying $400 on a tent. That being said it’s a solid tent. I’ve been in all night rainstorms and never had any leaks.
@@SpiguyverBackpacking1 Worth it though. You can set up the rain fly to the ground sheet without the bug net . Good way to save weight if you’re not worried about bugs.
