@Direct Netstores Be ready to have a bug out plan because when the Dictator of Cambodia dies its going to be a civil war because the people don't like him. Also, to try and pass leadership to his son Hu san is getting a ton of money from China. I don't put it pass him to make his country a communist country so his family can stay in power.

Yes, please do a comparison between a studio/condo and an apartment in terms of cost and amenity. Some have pools and gyms right. Some rooms are just like hotel rooms with no separate bedroom? Also, what about the old condos or Russian populated, should avoid? What about buying once you've found the perfect place? Thank you again.

@@Stephen-Steven-Stephens Kev is a really nice guy with a genuine heart to help everybody, but unfortunately, he made too many mistakes for himself. of course, not having insurance when retired( big smoker) and then when he was diagnosed with cancer, he didn't go back to get western treatment. now it is too late, a lesson for many Expats who think retirement is a breeze.

Absolutely... Takes time to find the best place, balanced with all things considered. I have and always will place the importance of a my residence at the top of the list. Not easy as there as so many things to factor in. I will make great sacrifices budgetarily to mange that. But the search includes good value. Once you fine that balance it's a sigh of relief, but if you don't respect the reality that it usually takes time folks may fall flat, and often make poor decisions.
There is no place that is perfect. That is key to remember when searching. But, if you play your cards right and stick with the plan you may find something close to it. I have finally done so with my place (hopefully soon to return to) in Chiang Mai. Just this fact alone has given me loads of relief and in many cases happiness that took years of searching. It was well worth the time I spent looking for it.

Funny, i was watching a bangkok cost of living video from a really new channel and this came up as a suggestion when his video was done. I haven't watched this in a long time, Loucous! I spent a week in Bangsaen about 15 months ago. Nice town that caters to many Thai getting out of Bangkok for a break. People were friendly, but not many spoke English. Driving into BKK or Pattaya for running errands was crazy due to all the traffic there.

Before I start running off: great video (I've never stayed in Bangsaen) nice to know what the costs were for you. That said: I have DTAC 2Mbps (30 day) 330 Baht (a month). Never seem to run out of data / coverage excellent. You might want to look in to it? Though, I can't go in to True Mobile in Central Festival and have a Latte while I pay my bill (that is a plus - true coffee latte very good!) I do save a little each month w/ DTAC ?!? You might want to consider paying a bit more and getting a South facing (end/corner) unit w/ the evening breezes, you might actually save over the aircon bill ? Most nights (even when it's hot out, I almost get chills from the breeze). Great stuff (as always), when do we see the new Rides 4 Kickz home ?

    Excellent info video.
I have been lucky in travelling in Thailand through the years - short and medium periods.
One thing I found after adding up my accommodation, food etc - they are inexpensive but the killer is alcohol. It's roughly the price of a local meal - beers that is. The local drink/mix their local whisky - cheaper.
Yes it's the same expense (sive) as back at home.
So when I add up what I spend on things I needed, roof over my head, food, water etc but then wow that's double again with just beers(don't really need). I see where it has gone - for me that is.

In bangkok its a pain to pay the electric bill, but i used the motorbike taxis, gave them the bill, and money, sent them away to the electric company. When they came back the handed over the change, and then i asked how much i owed them, and it was like 40b or so, and gave them like a 100b tip. Super easy instead of me having to spend like an hour or more to fix it one time per month. Earned more working.

It was very instructive for me as I plan to come and live here. And the rent I pay now (6 months lease, at 15,000 bahts) is too expensive for me. And also the Beachroad noise is too high. I asked a random Thai stranger on an obscure backroad if he spoke english. He did! ...and i was on my way.

My electric staying in Central Pattaya has always been 4 times yours. Always slept with AC on. As far as getting condo deposit back... I would rent 3-5 months at a time in Pattaya. On the day I was due to fly back home the realtor would come to check me out and also give me my deposit back.

I think that condo works so well for you because you have your own transportation.

Thanks for the video, bit tired of all those youtubers saying you can't live with less than 1000$ in Thailand. Those utilities are soooo cheap, and rent for the condo also. Will have to move there :P

You definitely can live for $1000 or less a month, but not in a place where you're constantly spending on Western-style amenities.

Very informative, thanks! I'm curious where you moved to, and what amenities/costs it carries.

You didn't mention the option (or at least I didn't hear you) of using a phone banking application to pay your bills. I use the Kasikorn android application and am able to pay my water, electric, and phone internet from my phone. I'm currently on a brief visit back to the US and was able to pay my Thailand True phone bill from Seattle, which was nice.

That is another option, you might want to watch yesterday's Pattaya News though, apparently Kasikorn had some glitch since Friday where online banking payments appeared to go through but were never processed. True now has an English version of their App which is nice 👍

Thanks for all the good information in this video. BTW, what were you being charged per unit for water and electricity?

I really enjoyed my time in Krabi. I would move there in a heartbeat if I'd never seen Bali.

Have you ever missed your family in there ? I sometimes feel isolated in life , just counting how much life cost , but no one say how much do we pay to miss Mom and Dad . God bless
