I managed to succesfully do it once, nothing went wrong, however, once you root your phone it is more succeptible to viruses, so IDK how but i got a devastating virus that was unremovable, so I destroyed the whole OS and downloaded another one off the internet and used a PC to install it onto the phone

yeah, once your root you need to stop downloading apps.
If it doesn't work because it says play protect go to play store and go to its settings and scroll down till u see it and disable it like if it works if it doesn't I will tell u how

Won't let me download Towelroot. Android won't allow it. Even if I've heard of the developer. This doesn't work for Androids. My phone I'd a Samsung Galaxy S10+. Is that why?

Everyone is trash talking about how the rooting is for 2014 and earlier phones so why even tell us about it, well theres this thing as people who dont shell out the hundreds of dollars each year because the model this year isnt too much better than the last few years. I know people with perfectly fine samsung galaxy s7's here in late 2019

MATBORST it is probably because it is 2020 and you have updated your phone or tablet to 2020 you need an older version for it to work
