Im glad to see a foreigner being aware of pricing. It sucks that there are some people trying to overcharge other people specially the foreign ones. Not just here in the Philippines but also in different countries. Reality sucks.

For example, 1php is 0.05 korean won, bale ung 10k korean won na example ninyo, 10k times .05 is 500php. Parang 1usd is 50php. Pag may 10usd times 50php is 500php.
What a brave soul! Travelling to Manila by yourself without any relatives or close friends as a guide. Being careful and aware of your surrounding is normal specially if you are in a foreign country and not familiar with it. Reading /researching is completely different once you are physically there. I'm a Filipino living in the US and didn't know better, I visited Manila long time ago and was tricked by a taxicab. Take care and be safe. Enjoy the Philippines, lots to see/learn!
My tips for tourists/foreigners who's gonna visit the Philippines (specifically manila): 1. It is normal here in the Philippines when something weird or a strange event occurs. Sometimes we get distracted from those & sometimes we ignore those since we filipinos are always busy at outdoors. 2. When you're about to visit the Philippines for the first time, please contact a filipino friend or any friend that you know that is comfortable in the Philippines or a friend that lived for a while in the Philippines. I'm giving you this tip since when some filipino taxi drivers/sellers get their eye on a foreigner, they cheat the price of their product or the meter. 3. If you just exchanged the currency of your money & it's a huge amount or a lump of cash, please head home & hide it OR if you want, you can go to a bank then apply for a bank account there 4. Don't trust anyone immediately! 5. Bargain the seller, if you think the price of what they're selling is too expensive. Or better yet, just leave them lol. 6. Bring a map or google map with you. 7. I can't of an another tip, so just enjoy the moment. Most of the time filipinos are nice, kind & ready to treat anybody who is in needs. So enjoy. bye -vin

What I really like about this vlog is that he's not falling for that Php400 charger which doesn't have a good quality and making "TAWAD" for exchanging currency, after hearing that, this guy is really good. Nah man, Manila just sucks, anywhere but Manila in the Philippines is a better place to stay, in the first place Manila is the capital and its more or less the business capital its not exactly a vacation location unlike most regions in the Philippines, also ngl people in Manila are the people we least expect when it comes to hospitality and generousity so don't go to Manila expecting that

I wish other foreigners would also be like you who's alert in cases like that. 3. I also commend you for being cautious when it comes to walking or speaking with people. 4. I also commend you for being very understanding. I appreciate you being very interested in some of the things we offer like food and places you to visit. 5. I feel very thankful to the taxi driver who had assisted you toward the condominium. Kind people do exist here in the Philippines and we are all very grateful for that. It is frustrating to go to a country and the people will try to squeeze every penny out of you but thats reality. I applaud your courage to move and live in a different country. Remember knowledge is the key. Do a lot of research and most importantly make friends! Filipinos are friendly and they will help you through your journey.

It’s safer for foreigners to buy their stuff in the mall. Remember, majority of the people are honest but for some Uneducated ones, they’ll still see you as opportunity. Be safe.

You can exchange money in any banks, its safer although the rates maybe a little lower than outside. Or try inside the shopping malls. If you are in Ayala, its pretty much urbanized and have all the facilities around. Good luck and Philippines is a safe country, just remain cautious and vigilant. It's no difference when I travelled in Seoul, a lot of sellers in Myeongdong tried to cheat on me, but I have studied the place beforehand so my vacation was pretty awesome. Just a little tip. Please avoid engaging in any discussion about Philippine politics. The candidates running now got quite loyal following/supporters and they could get too opinionated abt their candidates (All parties). You might be misunderstood or put into uncomfortable situation/discussions if you were to talk abt them specially if you know little info abt them. Anyway, stay safe, enjoy and welcome.

400 pesos for a charger here is too much, maybe in S. Korea that would be cheap since I bought one that I'm using now for 15,000 won (it has 2 ports) back when I visited the country last 2019. Hope you enjoy your stay here, though I think going you chose the hard part by going alone. I understand you being too suspicious of everything tho. Also, it would be much better if you have contacts with other Koreans here in the Philippines that way they can give you tips. Maybe also check the videos of Korean vloggers currently staying here in the country, I'm sure you'll get some ideas from their videos. Things are going to change and places are going to be crowded seeing that the restrictions are getting lifted. Anways, Welcome to the Philippines.

You can exchange money in any banks, its safer although the rates maybe a little lower than outside. Or try inside the shopping malls. If you are in Ayala, its pretty much urbanized and have all the facilities around. Good luck and Philippines is a safe country, just remain cautious and vigilant. It's no difference when I travelled in Seoul, a lot of sellers in Myeongdong tried to cheat on me, but I have studied the place beforehand so my vacation was pretty awesome. 400 pesos for a charger here is too much, maybe in S. Korea that would be cheap since I bought one that I'm using now for 15,000 won (it has 2 ports) back when I visited the country last 2019.
Hope you enjoy your stay here, though I think going you chose the hard part by going alone. I understand you being too suspicious of everything tho. Also, it would be much better if you have contacts with other Koreans here in the Philippines that way they can give you tips. Maybe also check the videos of Korean vloggers currently staying here in the country, I'm sure you'll get some ideas from their videos.
