I’m so astounded by this story. A dancing art that began in the streets by poor minorities because of pure boredom, went to red bull sponsoring competitions along with other worldwide competitions sponsored by other companies, ending with an entitled, conceited, smug, white, rich, uppity, phd professor that single-handily destroyed any future on a world wide platform FOR THE ENTIRE genre. That’s something that someone who hated breaking couldn’t plan this. It’s as if people felt disrespected simply because they watched her dance. That takes skill
This is the best take on this whole situation I came across. She indeed did it. She destroyed the whole genre of dancing/art. I believe it was the only chance for break dance to be seen for the global audience and look what happened. Now people think about it like a pathetic, silly, ridiculous, absolutely despicable form of "sport" for untalented losers. And the story behind it, OMG 😱 she should be prosecuted, she should be in jail for what she did.
When Raugunn got a score of 0 (zero), that said it all on the world stage. Raygunn should have said I hurt myself practicing, and will not be able to compete in the Olympics. That way Australia would have bowed out gracfully from the competion. Instead the world got to see Ms. Raygunn get a score of zero, and embarrass Australia at the same time. Think about it, Ms. RayGunn would have got the same score if she competed, or not. That's how good her routine was. Now her routine will go down in infamy for being a joke routine. Hey remember when Australia got a big fat zero in break dancing during the Olympics? Yeah, they could replaced Ms. RayGunn with someone about to have an Epileptic seizure, and that individual would have performed better than Ms. RayGunn.
Maybe the sport might flourish as a result? Theory being that "the only thing worse than being talked about is, not being talked about" and the sport is definitely being talked about now, big time.
Yes, the worst thing she could have did was tell everybody that she "worked her butt off" to train for the Olympics and she did her best. As a result of the controversy that she created, the category of breakdancing will not be continued in the Olympics for the next games. Let's be honest here...she teaches breakdancing for a living and is paid to be the "expert" in that area...she wanted to put "Olympian" on her resume and bio, that's all, which she already did. I wish her well.
What about her? Locking herself in a room and crying, I peed myself laughing. And that pathetic Olympic committee woman talking such rubbish. She needs to be fired as well.
I wish the media would stop stating that Raygun "Did a thesis on breakdancing" it is so misleading. She merely used the breakdancing scene to write a thesis on gender inequality. the two are not the same.

@HappyGo743 yes ...I agree. She has been living in her own insular bubble surrounded by her minions feeding her ego, her false sense of pride and hubris for all these years. Perhaps Olympics judges were the first ones to burst her bubble.
You mean her PHD doesn't automatically qualify her as a break-dancing sensation? So her education was just a waste of thousands and thousands of dollars (including taxpayer dollars)?
I don’t know if a perfect zero score has ever been achieved before at the Olympics, so that’s some record to have as an Olympian. They should give out a very special medal to someone who didn’t score anything at all, it’s an achievement in and of itself.
She got a participation award from her prime minister. Technically she did do better than the Hundoras football team at the 2008 Olympics. They actually properly qualified for the Olympics unlike SpRaygun and it was a team effort to score zero. If you look at the judges scoring for SpRayguns rounds she did score a grand total of 2 votes combined in all her rounds and of those 2 votes she was one of the highest rated of all the B-Girls at the Olympics. That’s a win in anyone’s book, right? 😂😂😂😂
“Well, her moves were different like a kick in the shins is different from a gentle caress.” I’m dead. Please, commentate at the next breakdance Olympics.
I have great empathy for all the B-dancers - I first saw B-dancing in San Francisco in the 1980's and even then the amount of athleticism and strength was amazing and the moves were out of this world. Then having it the Olympics would show off the artistry and athleticism - But it only took one Ray-Gun to sink i's potential - Too bad Skateboarding and Snowboarding had to start somewhere and now their highly rated Olympic sports. - Keep at it B-girls and B-boys - don't let this be a setback. - If the Olympics can have Rhythmic gymnastics they can make room for B-dancing (which is closer to Gymnastics if done properly.)

No, not woke. She definitely fully asleep, having one of those weird dreams you have every so often. Ohhh, now I'm a famous Olympic athlete break-dancer.
She was in New York at a breaking event in the Bronx a few months ago. Rumours say she saw a similar move to her now iconic kangaroo dance and this is why she included it at the Olympics because if it was good enough for the home of breaking it was good enough for the Olympics.
@@richardb8492 Rumours are lies. I lived in NYC my whole life, im 32. if she did that routine in the bronx she'd get her ass laughed at so hard and deported. no way did she actually "see" these moves in NYC, maybe in the 70s. Also no way she had the balls to travel to the bronx. I lived in australia for 8 years, i've lived in their "hoods" shit was about as hood as a suburban town in white plains. she'd shit herself if she even tried going to the bronx.
So Kieran, how would you feel if she qualified for representing Australia in swimming??? That she swam in a freestyle event and did dog paddle?? She came last , but hey! She tried. She gave it a crack and she should be praised for doing it "her way"! Anyone not worshipping her are un Australian! Riiiiight?
I believe that academic woman, who wrote that Raygun was scoring zero points on purpose for an academic social experiment, tried to help Raygun with that tweet. I think she wanted to give Raygun the chance to jump on that explanation because that story wouldn't be as embarrassing as the truth that Raygun did that because she thought it looked cool. But Raygun didn't see the opportunity, she didn't get it and went on with her own explanation that we, the viewers were too stupid to get her genius style.
Lets give Ami credit for winning gold 🥇🤸 What does Raygunn lack of skills as a b-girl has to do with being woke or being a lefty? They're enough delusional people in both worlds - left and right, conservatives/democrats, male/female, young/old.... Being "WOKE" doesn't make you delusional - Lack of self awareness does - people around you that give you credit for trying for something you don't have! Her theories may be good but as a practical preformer she has little skills. She makes b-girls look bad.
She thought she was so clever by incorporating her version of Australian funky dance moves; ( incorporating her ballroom & jazz dancing abilities & knowledge) Thereby adding a difference as opposed to basic breakdancing skilled movements. In her Woke world, that sometimes works! ( like overweight women & transgender women winning beauty contests) However, she "misread the room". Tge judges wanted to see traditional breakdancing on the floor... not someone prancing on two legs. IMHO
She contradicted to herself in the interview also about the judges: first she said that there were all judges from overseas and she was very nervous to dance front of them (this insinuates that she didn't kbow them). But few mins later she mentioned that the judges already knew about her abilities because they scored her previously.

Woke has nothing to do with it. Passports, the usual last minute notification of the qualifiers. So last minute they didn't even fill the 16 qualifier places. A number of b-girls needed to get passports, part of the selection, obviously not easy to do with no time at all. Next breaking is highly physical. More physical than I'd say 99.9% of viewers have ever been in theor lives. Raygun failed to work out in the gym to strengthen and condition her body to perform power moves. What she did do was basically contemporary dance classes, which is so lame it's a travesty. Sammy the free. That is her husband, youtube him b-boying, its hilarious. However they were not influencing the qualifier nor the selection and he didnt judge. He is an absolute muppet that can't break.
@@HappyGo743 yeah buddy a thesis is the same as a contest. 🤣🤣🤣 Don't get a thesis confused with a competition. Nice attempt at a save but failed. Man get your head out of that "woke" fantasy. The real fail here is her absolute lack of physicality, not that any of those commenting are close to contest fit either.

As an Australian taxpayer I demand she return the money received for this fraud and the immediate sacking of the minister responsible!!!
I'm so sorry my friend!
I suppose one can study the history of breakdancing , its cultural significance and its continued influences and have PhD but to actually to be a breaker, its a whole another story...one has to have a natural flare, charisma, technique, skill, strength, stamina, creativity to execute.
@@AtmaNirbhar-uj9zr I believe you are correct 💯 I also believe that's very important that people are honest with others to help them improve when it comes to their craft. I don't believe that anyone has been honest with this person throughout her entire career and I believe that the people that she surrounds herself with (including herself) simply thought she would get by on her doctorate.
@maynardkrebs8941 The way she is making mockery out of everything...the answer to your question is a resounding Yes.
Talent?
Well said! We are embarrassed and appalled that she was put forward as the 'best talent'. So many Australian break dancers could of made us proud.
@@bethanysummers3377 Thank you so much for sharing your very valuable input my friend 🙏
I didn't know that becoming a national embarrassment require minimal effort.
this is so rude,.. she worked her whole life to get here
I don’t know if a perfect zero score has ever been achieved before at the Olympics, so that’s some record to have as an Olympian. They should give out a very special medal to someone who didn’t score anything at all, it’s an achievement in and of itself.
She single handed created the OLYMPICS WOODEN SPOON category.
They were going to give her a 'special' medal, but then someone accidently flushed it.
Perfect zeros were already given in Olympics before. See 1976 in Montreal (N.Comaneçi)
Bruce Jenner's Woman of the Year, Obama's Nobel Peace Prize, RayGunn 's PhD./ Gold Medal. W T F ?!? Will the aliens please wipe us out already?
And people wonder why art degrees are a joke 🤣.
She definitely gives a bad reputation to education in general.
I'd like to read her PhD thesis just for laughs.
😂 that dude in front row at 0:48 absolutely having a blast witnessing her special moves!
@@artemvsprime 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
There was nobody else to compete against her because she blocked everybody from the tryouts
“Well, her moves were different like a kick in the shins is different from a gentle caress.” I’m dead. Please, commentate at the next breakdance Olympics.
🤣🤣🤣 thank you so much, I'm glad that you like my humor 🙏🏻
Can't commentate at the next breakdance Olympics...she alone single-handedly got the Olympics to cancel the category for the next time.

"They´re afraid of being the next Raxgun..."
GOOD, maybe they will practice before they climb on a stage then.
@@MrSocko-bh1jb absolutely. It's a shame that so many actually talented people didn't get noticed at the Olympics because of this entire debacle.
They may as well have sent an actual kangeroo to represent breakdancing. Anything's better than Raygun.
I'd pay to watch a Kangaroo break dance. I would not pay to watch Raygun dance. In fact, you couldn't pay ME to watch that.
That would be cruelty to an animal, such as the cruelty inflicted on the audience by her.
I wonder if she’s watched the playback and thought, “WTF WAS I ON?”
If she can even find the footage... It's being deleted from the entire internet. Check out the latest video we put out! Scary stuff!
Well, at least her husband is proud of her and her skills.
As also her coach, I think he would say she fully deserved the gold.
She's been doing it for 12 years! She has zero talent,
When losing teams in school also get trophies 😅😂
Exactly 💯💯💯
Self-proclaimed genius, her performance was fantastic, the world just isn't on her level.
lol It was on a whole nother level, all right😂
We just don't have her vision or college degree.

I’ve come across a few raygun defenders on TH-cam and reddit… incredible that she gets to act the way she has and continues to 30:43 but I can’t blow off some steam as a tax paying citizen in a comments section
Did Rachel Gunn ever look at USA break dancing?
For a second I thought breakdancing meant something different in Australia, and I’m Australian. We were so confused.
@@booradley0x0 🤣 so it's not just us in the U.S.
She ain't 'woke'. If Raygun was 'woke' she would not have entered the competition. Period!
No, not woke. She definitely fully asleep, having one of those weird dreams you have every so often.
Ohhh, now I'm a famous Olympic athlete break-dancer.
I was able to re-create her "Olympic moves " in my living room at age 62.
That should NEVER BE POSSIBLE!
Raygunn needs to visit new york if she wants to see real breakdancing.
@@richardfell9510 agreed 💯
She was in New York at a breaking event in the Bronx a few months ago. Rumours say she saw a similar move to her now iconic kangaroo dance and this is why she included it at the Olympics because if it was good enough for the home of breaking it was good enough for the Olympics.
@@richardb8492 interesting lol

I agree 💯
So if she practiced and worked her butt off, but has been easily mimicked within 24hrs. Musicality 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

That qualification for the Olympics reminds me of them 80M votes for Basement Biden ;)

What does Raygunn lack of skills as a b-girl has to do with being woke or being a lefty?
They're enough delusional people in both worlds - left and right, conservatives/democrats, male/female, young/old....
Being "WOKE" doesn't make you delusional - Lack of self awareness does - people around you that give you credit for trying for something you don't have!

Thank you! Your channel is great! 👏🏻
She thought she was so clever by incorporating her version of Australian funky dance moves; ( incorporating her ballroom & jazz dancing abilities & knowledge) Thereby adding a difference as opposed to basic breakdancing skilled movements.
In her Woke world, that sometimes works! ( like overweight women & transgender women winning beauty contests)
However, she "misread the room". Tge judges wanted to see traditional breakdancing on the floor... not someone prancing on two legs.
IMHO
No wonder why first world western countries are turning into 💩 it’s an embarrassment
Let's not forget she's using her taxpayer funding to travel Europe...
She contradicted to herself in the interview also about the judges: first she said that there were all judges from overseas and she was very nervous to dance front of them (this insinuates that she didn't kbow them). But few mins later she mentioned that the judges already knew about her abilities because they scored her previously.

I grew up during the 80's when break dancing was still popular and I respect it because it does take skill. All types of dancing does. What RayGun did was a mockery of all dancing especially on the Olympic stage. Just pulling someone from the crowd to do the Curly Shuffle or heck the Ickey Woods Shuffle might have actually gotten a point .
I was just thinking, wasn't break-dancing the rage - 40 years ago. I thought it had went the way of the Charleston. But it's actually a new Olympic sport.
If I was a break-dancer I would feel totally disrespected and feel that my dance/sport had just had the absolute piss taken out of it. I think Ray Gun may actually be a comedian in disguise!
That Australian suit Green and Yellow reminds me of "BLIMPIE" subs restaurants in NYC 😂
When did you leave New York? I'm fairly certain that the blimpie chain shut down a very long time ago. Unless I'm mistaken. I'm from New York and I remember my parents used to take me there all the time when I was younger. Once it closed I was really sad. Thanks for your comment!
@HappyGo743 I left New York in 2012,living in PR now. But I remember there was one left on 149st and 3rd Ave if I'm not mistaken. Damm, that was my favorite place to get breakfast 😋 I remember my favorite the Bonanza sandwich 🥪. I'm so glad to hear you liked that restaurant too.

This is what happens when one becomes so intellectualized with little to no practical experience.
Everyone knows a college degree trumps experience, skill and ability.
If you don't believe me, ask any recent college graduate.
For me that is the crux of this affair. No way anything like that would happen if the person would not have a "superior education" - This is good stuff for psychiatric studies.

Woke has a lot to do with it. Did you take a look at her thesis? Tell me that's not woke. Love your comment, thank you!
@@HappyGo743 yeah buddy a thesis is the same as a contest. 🤣🤣🤣 Don't get a thesis confused with a competition. Nice attempt at a save but failed. Man get your head out of that "woke" fantasy.
Thesis and the qualification are not in any way linked. If you want someone to blame, blame the crazy husband. His "battle" name is "samny the free". He is the most clueless individual I've ever seen "b-boy".
Also you know how fit you have to be to break? Yeah I highly doubt you'd have a handle on that, going to a gym and working on endurance (cardio), strength and flexibility isn't your bag I feel, at all. The real fail here is her absolute lack of physicality, not that any of those commenting are close to contest fit either.
