The whole duping the vibes concept has changed my relationship with consumerism so drastically. I duped the vibes of 6 palettes I coveted for years (many discontinued) and if I had bought those palettes- it would have cost $558! Plus my dupes are more specific to my tastes and honestly are pretty close to the real thing.
I just want to echo the commenter above who said it would be great to see some of the eye looks you make with this palette. I love these videos, but I’m always so interested in seeing tutorials about what exactly you do with them.

It's amazing how much effort it takes to realize that if something doesn't meet 100% of our expectations, we shouldn't buy it. If you realistically only use a fraction of the palette, then there is no point in buying it.
I duped the vibes of the retro palette and realized I don't like these colors together lol. I did one look and disassembled the palette. Yours right up my alley.

That's such a good feeling! This pallet is the one I'm *most* drawn to, but HLP reminded me to look at my stash. Apparently I've been drawn to this color story before because I have enough shadows that I can dupe the vibes of this pretty easily.
Let us know how the mattes work for you. My glam palette is often patchy and it’s a big bummer.
@@embellishmarin4647 I haven’t had any issues so far! There are a lot of the cream to powder formula, so if you don’t like that, it might not be for you. I’ve been using a nyx brush I got years ago that is kind of stiff and scratchy. It places the cream really nicely and smoothly.
I just saw that Wayne Goss has very purple-y wine-y palette coming out that is giving me ND retro feelings. I need to dupe these vibes soooon. I have a CT instant eye palette with a black and I'm sure the Kaleidos one you chose is going to be much stronger and truly black.
I honestly wasn't expecting how much that palette gave me cozy autumn vibes until you swatched them all at the end! Gorgeous colour story!

I love watching these videos. I just wish there were more companies selling vaguely affordable single eye shadows in the UK. Or really special ones that make the splurge worthwhile. I don't want to get hammered with import duties and Royal Mail fees like I did when I bought a couple of Melt palettes from the US prior to them being sold by Beauty Bay in the UK.
If I tried to dupe the vibes by buying MAC singles (for example), I don't have to want many of the shades in a palette before it's cheaper to just buy the whole palette, even if I know half the shades aren't going to get used.
Of course, it's that kind of thinking which means I probably have more palettes than Hannah (18!!!) despite not being a TH-camr or even wearing make up most days. 😳
I don't want to risk breaking shades by depotting, but I need to get better at spotting when across my existing palettes I can dupe the vibes without physically putting the shades in a single palette.
With the depotting, try with a shade you don't use, that would be half es bad if it would break. I have depotted quite a few palettes and only one shade broke a bit, I could still use it though. I now get much more use out of the shades, as I don't have to open up all these different palettes just for one shade :)
Maybe look into lethal cosmetics from Germany?
@@linaaaah I was looking into them pre Brexit, but that has made ordering from Europe a bit more complicated than when we were in the EU.
I now only try to buy palettes where the pans are removable e.g. Viseart so it gives me a bit of room for manouver, but I feel you about lack of singles in the U.K. market.
@@knightbrucie I have a few viseart palettes but only one seems to be the new style where the pans can be removed more easily.

As you plucked out shades and then as you narrowed them down, I was just thinking, "Yes. Yeesss. YEEESSS." I don't know why it made me so pleased, maybe because we agreed about which ones you chose LOL anyway can't wait to see looks you create with this palette.

I love this but I personally have a really difficult time making palettes with inconsistent pan sizes and shapes. I just can’t get past it when I open it up myself. I’ve been trying to get better but I just can’t 😔

I think this is a great way to use one's makeup, and avoid being punked by consumerism. It also teaches you to look at makeup as art supplies, imo. You can do so much with what you already have.

I’m afraid you are inspiring me to buy more makeup. I don’t have any quality palettes that I enjoy and I only ever wear colourful eyeshadow on stage (burlesque) so Im using your videos to figure out which colours being me joy and would get used and how they might combine together. I have recently decided that I don’t love Natasha Denona shadows enough to justify buying them, especially since you introduced me to Clionadh shadows. The ND ones are often patchy for me in matte, and while I like her shimmers, I see more on Clionadh that I think I’ll love even more. Great video! I love how you walk us through the thought process to the sorting, the editing, and the placing. Someday I’d love to see (maybe shorts?) of looks you do with your new to you palettes, and as suggested by others, a run down of how a palette worked (or didn’t work) for you as you put it away. Such good content!

Your Duping the vibes -videos have quickly become some of my favourites! I have been in such a rut with my makeup, nothing really inspired me and i Just felt like buying new stuff all the time. I decided I'm not gonna buy anything new until I get some use out of my current collection and these videos have inspired me soooo much!! I've been obsessing over a smokey purple metallic eyeshadow for a year and debating on spending the $50 for the whole palette. Great video! I wanted these palettes when I first saw them. My version ended up being taupe & teal, with lime accents. I guess I would have been bored with both of the new palettes if I had bought them.

I would love to see a video about the best indie brands to buy single shadows or palettes that are easy to de-pot? I’ve de-poted all of my colourpop palettes and I have a few Sydney grace individual shadows but I’d like a good new bronze and mauve shadow and maybe would try a different brand.
I'm sorry this is bothering me haha but if you had pull the first row to the very top and the second to the very bottom, you could actually fit one more row with all the rest of the shadows or at list a few more.

I love these videos, but one must have singles or magnetic palettes to be able to create dupes. That’s an investment in itself
I absolutely agree. Yet I also depottet all of my palettes, and then added singles for missing shades. For the non magnetic shades I then bought some very thin magnets that stick. And so the only real investment at first were the empty magnetic palettes.
@@rebekkakhigson I would hate to depot my existing shadow palettes unless they are magnetic and most are not, just to have singles. Also depotting takes a lot of precision, effort and sometimes there’s a lot of damage to the shadows as well. I really don’t think it’s a feasible solution unless one is throwing away all of their makeup and just wants to keep a few shadows
