This is why companies use utubers to market their products. It’s a powerful pull to want to buy everything your favorite influencer is using. That said YT ruined the sharing goal after Google bought it. They (groupon) did the same thing to ideeli, ruining that too. Oh well 🤷🏼♀️🙄🎭
Oh I didn’t realise this is exactly the kind of makeup video I wanted. Thrifty, puzzle-solving, colour theory, looking at beautiful colours… also now I have a huge urge to buy a bunch in single and palettes and I rarely even wear eyeshadow

You're inspiring me to do the same and build my own palette whenever I'm tempted by new releases. New Pat, Natasha and UD palettes are like sirens of the sea, calling my name. More than $100 palettes are also waaay outside of my budget, especially when I already have 15 palettes and about 40 singles.
Oyster Bar is the perfect name for that UD palette. 😂 It makes perfect sense and honestly a better representation of the color story than “cyber.”
This made me realize that I wouldn’t want to buy the Pat McGrath palette-I really just want to swatch it to see that color payoff and the color changes of the cool multi chrome shades. But it also made me think I really would want that UD palette!

Honestly if someone showed me that UD palette and said it really was called Oyster Bar, I'd 100% believe it based off the color story. And then I would say they missed the mark on the iridescence of the oyster shell, just as I think they missed the mark on the abstract idea of "cyber" but lol
I truly love this content. You’ve inspired me to go through my single shadows and curate even smaller collections. That way I can switch things up more regularly and utilize more shadows. I find I don’t use my larger single shadow palettes often enough, so I purchased some smaller empty palettes. Btw… love the palette you created!

This is exactly what I needed because the huetopian dream is calling to me...but only the four fun shades. Now I know about some singles that offer the same vibe.
I just duped the vibes of the cyber palette! I'm so attracted to the idea of the oyster bar, shear iridescent duochrome goodness but thought the palette itself was too pale and bland. I loved what you did with combining the color story of the huetopian dream! That purple was such a nice touch! 💜
Since you’ve started duping the vibes, I’ve used it as a part of my nobuy arsenal! In fact sometimes I use it as a trial run for the palette I am considering. Even if I can dupe and use it, I feel confident that it’s utilitarian and a good fit for my lifestyle. So far it’s been a boon!!

Edit: this video made me take a closer look at the HD palette and I realized my eye just keeps getting drawn to that purple and nowhere else - maybe I should just try to get a single of that color and call it a day :)
I feel the exact same! The purple is really what's drawing me to the palette
I might be wrong since I haven't really looked at the swatches, but that purple in the HD palette reminds me of N-Sane by JD Glow! And in general, JD Glow shadows are pretty similar to the PMG special shades.

I love how there’s quads of different color stories through the palette
When I think "Cyber", I think more platinums, silvers, gunmetal tones, deep blues and purples (the latter much like the MAC lipstick of the same name), maybe even bright metallic green? (My brain goes to mid-90s, not necessarily Y2K.) UD's palette is definitely better named as "Oyster Bar" to me, too.

I ABSOLUTELY agree about that bright metallic green, because I think Tron. Hell, any color story that makes me think of Cyberpunk 2077, which is popular among RPG gamers and came out last year :/ The color story is a bit of a letdown, but I absolutely love the packaging ;_;

Looking at this palette I am reminded of when you loved to mix coral and golden tones. It's a color match up you've turned me on to, actually.
That colors left behind would make a gorgeous subdued pallette that I would be very drawn to! Especially if there were also a bright, gold reflect peach or mystical aqua for pizazz.

I’m actually interested in the Urban Decay one… I’m not much for bold color, so those more subtle colors are appealing… but the size and number of shadows kills it for me. I wish it was a cute, 9-pan or something.

This is completely counterintuitive to this series but these vids make me want more single eyeshadows! I definitely want more 'hannah-style' duochromes, unfortunately you can't get most of the indie brands you've got yours from in Australia! Edit: could you maybe do a list of your fave 'mainstream' single shadows?!

Its the purple and golds for me 😍 I've taken to converting vintage cigarette cases into pallettes by sticking down a magnetic strip on one side, and have been loooving it. Makes me feel so luxe holding onto this beautiful metal object filled with pretty shadows 🖤

This is exactly why I love reorganizing and playing with my single shadows. Also, ACD5 is my favorite type of topper shade and looks awesome paired with mid-tone coral and dusty pink mattes.

Really appreciative of you using what you have, Hannah. I miss having all of my pressed powder products in pan only form so I can put them in palettes of my choosing.
I’ve had to start over due to figuring out a lot of ingredient sensitivities. I’ve spent much of the first part of this year decluttering all of my more conventional products. Little was tossed, most was given away.
Now that I’ve done a restock with beauty products with me-friendly ingredients, I currently have older Pacifica, lily lolo, ATHR, Red Apple Lipstick, 100% pure, honeybee gardens, and some zuzu luxe/Gabriel. Oh! I also have one lovinah palette. I’d love to depan it all into custom palettes, but I’ve gotta have some things set up first.
Also, I’m trying to figure out how to depan a couple of rms mini pressed powder luminzers I was able to get via resales. They’re eyeshadow size, and would be perfect additions to my custom palettes. The problem is, the clamshell is a clear hard plastic, then there’s a ring of white plastic inside that, snugly holding the product in place. I can’t pop them out of the clamshell without fracturing the product. Why a clean beauty company design such a thing is beyond me. Anyway, I’ve already gouged myself once in the effort, and that took a couple weeks to heal.

For $14 I bought Pat McGrath's foiled/sparlkly eyeshadow palette with three lip glosses. Bought them because other eyeshadows in that range are starting to expire. OMG!! I couldn't believe the quality and I'm so excited I found the $14 five-pan eyeshadow palette on her website. Today I did my first one eyeshadow look that was super satisfying. Thank you for going through and having us look for dupes and being more thoughtful about purchases. (BY THE WAY - listening to this as I look forward to changing into my PrintFresh pajamas when my day's errands are done :-)
I saw that little palette on sale for $14 under xclusiv offers and was tempted to get it, but wondering if it’s the same formula as the bigger palettes. I’ve never tried PM shadows bc I can’t bring myself to spend that much on a palette. Did you receive it yet? Interested to know what you think about it.

These videos have quickly become some of my favourites! So satisfying and I love coming along for the recreation. And also you have so many delicious dazzling grungy eyeshadows that I feel the need to expand my own collection in that vein 😍
I love that you are sharing this and I hope people who see this get inspired to use eyeshadows that they already have instead of going and buying expensive palettes and getting more shades that they won't barely touch or use... get inspired and create you're own palette(s) that you will use and love; all while you save money .You're being substantial and in a way recycling or upcycling your singles. I honestly love this idea and I truly hope more people catch on.
We buy stuff to use but more often then not most of it goes to waste... especially when we continue to want and buy the new releases and the brand(s) are doing a "new release" every month or every couple and what we bought in the first place doesn't get used like we intended too.. i think everyone can admit we are guilty of oftrn or at some point. America over produces everything which isn't helping our environment at all. Its is why we have overwhelming,over filled and disgusting amounts of trash everywhere. That isn't biodegradable, that isn't being recycled and has no where to go... our places we put this trash are over following. If you dont know about this please do a quick Google search or Google images to see this disaster. Its important to know, to understand and to do something about it... even if it's something small and little it does count

You make an excellent point that often we only are attracted to some of the shades of a palette but the rest of it we can dupe or find singles for that colour and save money overall its an approach and also a shift in perspective. I love seeing your creativity and it definitely makes me want to play with my own singles and get this satisfaction for myself!

The Urban Decay one interests me far more because it seems to have more multidimensional shades and is less than half the price. I’ll wait for reviews, but it could be my 2nd palette purchase of 2021.

I'm glad I watch these videos, because right now I only have one neutral palette that I love, and nearly two months later I've decided to have HD be my one fun palette. And truly, I feel good about that decision because truly I don't have the single shadow collection to dupe the vibes, and I'm learning that I need to allow myself to have high quality stuff especially since I don't own much of it🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽 (also black Friday is a-coming)

I often use the 5 pan ND (full 2.5 pan size) to make weekly palettes. It’s a great way to rotate all of your shadows by selecting a color story from my own collection.
