Hello 👋 Chris, I enjoyed this video so much that I had to watch it again the 2nd time. I'm sorry that I missed your dinner invitation. All the best to you. Stay safe out there. 🤗
Well done Chris! Love your vids and the awesome places you choose to explore, without the crowds. This will be another hike added to my list for sure. Thanks Chris!
Hello Chris, great video my friend. Thank you for sharing this one. It's been many years since I've been been to the Mokelumne area. It is certainly a beautiful area. The very best to you for your good health and safety. I look forward to your next exciting adventure. 🤗
That camp spot is just gorgeous, like nature arranged a beautiful parlor ❤. Reminds me of the hikes my Parents took us on in Canada, along lake superior. ❤❤❤
Thanks for taking us along on your adventure! I believe the name of the eponymous native tribe is pronounced "mo-call-um-knee" (accented 2nd syllable). Their ancient home was a bit north of the Miwok, who were nearer Yosemite.
Hi Chris I enjoyed this video very much! The scenery in the Sierra’s is breathtaking and I always enjoy your videos from there.Take care and keep on happily hiking.Cheers from 🇨🇦 .
I have used the knor meals before for backpacking definitely are a money saver, with canned chicken or starkist chicken packets that does it too for longer trips. Hopefully you get to travel to the Midwest soon and give some love to Kansas! Your pepper spray video definitely gave me a little more confidence for doing Cirque de Towers in Wyoming which is grizzly country. Great videos!!
I do not camp or hike but I love your videos. The photography, the cooking, and the story telling are just wonderful. I have learned so much about camping and hiking that I would love to try it. Thank you. 😁👍
I love your videos. you're doing it in a very easy and sympathic way. very cool. would be great to get a few Base Camp Chris stickers to Switzerland :-)looking forward tothe next one! Love the area you're hiking in. USA must be great nature.
I'll get stickers hats and T's after I hit 10K subs with a Merch Shelf...closing in...we are at 9.3K or so...Thanks for watching...Love Switzerland...Yes...Sierra has great nature too!
Greetings from Poland, Cracow city, I like your channel, inspire me and help me to buy bagpack Osprey Stratos 36L. Im very happy with them. Wish to You all good.
Beautiful area so picturesque also LOVE the Folger's coffee commercial LOL Always great fun watching your videos and educational too! Thanks for sharing with us!
Always pay attention to what the “ prey” herd animals are doing to keep safe; there is always, generally a mature doe on watch. They like my back garden, and the six pointers will actually relax lay their heads down and sleep while the doe keeps watch over the rest of the herd. Plus side is they fertilise my grass and beds during the winter; and keep my ivy trimmed, but once I plant my garden, the deer fencing goes up…
I went with a Leatherman Surge. They cost a little extra but have a lifetime guarantee. All those extra tools are great. I bought the Winterial Compact Percolator Coffee Maker. Not sure, but it might have been on one of your videos. It just came a few days ago and I have not use it yet.
You said you were going to demo your bear spray and I thought “no, you don’t have to do that.” And then you demoed your bear spray and I thought “😮😀 that was cool “. Lol lots of fun.
Hey Chris, Election Day 2024! Just came to me, this thought of mine…. Can you adopt a dog from the pound? This act would produce many other animals funding a new home, I think. You have a huge and loyal fan base. You rock! Mark in Wadsworth and Scout.
I tell my sister, if I could. I would be a cross country tour guide. Have a beautiful tour bus and take families on guided trips. But I would need someone with your skills as well!!!!! Anyway, love the videos. I'm an addict now!
Good stuff Chris - One thing, when you clean the Sawyer you use CLEAN water only and shoot it in the REVERSE direction. That blows things that didn't make it through the filter back out . 😎 I also ditch the syringe and just use that sports cap you have from a Smart Water bottle. Looks like an interesting area! Keep 'em coming!!
Thank you Chris for the interesting hike in the Mokelumne Wilderness. I enjoy seeing your other videos where you enjoy cracking open a flavorful beer for the hike. With this meal, pasta, with chicken or seafood pasta in alfredo or vodka sauce you’ll need something light and maybe floral like Hoegaarden. Not that I have tried that beer, but I found a website that made that suggestion. Something to think about if you repeat this meal. Happy hiking
Hear about the doctor that got attacked by a grizzly and he didn't have time to pull out his bear spray and as the bear was trying to eat him, it bit on the canister near his waist and took off and the guy lived, he had many bad scars but he made it!!!❤
Hey Chris, really enjoy the videos. Few things about the filtering though. First, you were leaking dirty water from where the hose was coupled to the filter down into your water bottle. It shows up pretty clearly in the video. Second, as others have pointed out the syringe is for backflushing which is for forcing clean water back through the filter (front to back, the opposite of normal) to clear out the filter. Forcing dirty water through the filter in the normal direction is just filtering the water, not doing anything for the filter. Here's a video from Sawyer th-cam.com/video/lKWQjlq-uYA/w-d-xo.html Stay safe out there!
Okay, I went searching to see if this filtering system eliminates ALL the bad "bugs" and this is what I found out: There is a difference between filtering water and purifying water. It is important to know which one you are getting with a water "cleaning" system. The difference between the two is that filtering water removes waterborne protozoa and bacteria, but not viruses. A water purifier is designed to remove protozoa, bacteria AND viruses, giving more protection from "dirty" water illnesses. I also found out that for the most part, purification is not necessarily necessary in the USA or Canada because viruses are seldom a problem in our water. The filtration systems remove protozoa such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia, and bacteria like E. coli and Salmonella. These are transferred through animal waste/feces. That is usually enough in the pristine environments with few to no people. Viruses tend to be in more populated areas because they are mostly in human feces and the water is polluted by human waste. There found my own answer AND learned something, I hope this helps others who didn't already know. I have a feeling people like you folks already knew (including Chris) LMBO!
So Chris, aren't you afraid of coming across some rattlesnakes? Have you ever seen any? My dad, at 4 years old, came up to a rattlesnake in Eastern Washington, he had the intelligence to stop and back away from it, my dad didn't even know that it was there, it seen and (probably felt) the vibration from my dad walking on the ground before my dad ever seen it. My dad said that the snake was all coiled up and had his forked tongue out ready to strike and was rattling his tail, that probably saved my dad cause my dad heard him ever before seeing him. EWWW! ! Be safe out there!!
all Knoor products are good for backpacking especially when you add a protien. Try marinating your chicken with Italian Salad dressing in a baggy then cooking it on site!
Hey Chris, like the videos, it makes me want to get outside every time I watch. Where did you get your bear canister from? I've been searching online but can't seem to find a similar one.
Hey robjobob, I use the Backpacker's Cache - Bear Proof Container...Can be bought on Amazon. It is $70 bucks...but in most national parks from coast to coast this is the one they recommend. ( actually require ) www.amazon.com/Backpackers-Cache-Bear-Proof-Container/dp/B0002ZB5Y8
Hi Chris - another fabulous video. Thanks. I love the scenery, gear, food, weather, and your demonstration of bear spray. And I'm glad to hear that, like me, you're not a huge fan of garlic!! By the way, your videos are enhanced by the little excerpts of music you add. What was the title of the music you used while erecting your tent in this video? I love that. Keep hiking.
Thanks for demonstrating some camping stuff. I would like to know some of this stuff for my own knowlege. I am not planning on camping, but we do lose power in winter, some of these items would be handy to have around the apartment to help with cooking when the power is out for 2 days.
Really enjoy your stories ,and hikes and your fun campLooking forward to more of this in2023. Thanks Cris. And Good luck in your new adventures. Take care and be careful when out and about. I believe you about that Bigfoot. Questions about why they attacked some and not others. Note I believe there a species of what was left over from the prehistoric times they had a different name and I was amazed about one story you mentioned about how the Bigfoot save that man’s life so I don’t think they’re all mean very aggressive but I could be wrong always carry your gun there’s 357 mag Hand gun leave a pretty good size hole when exiting.Note my dad taught me how to use a handgun 22 semi automatic was the easiest for me to handle and He taught me all the safeties and how to handle again and he made sure to put the safety on when you’re not using it be careful out there
Your videos are awesome brother. Look forward to all ur new content. 2 things. Cross contamination is real. And When u back flush your supposed to use clean water not u filtered water. But regardless who am I to tell u a damn thing lol. Keep on hiking man. Its great entertainment.
@@basecampchris anything to help man. I appreciate your work and live vicariously in the desert through you since I'm a east coaster with west coast fantasy lol!
😅ok ok ok Chris… raise your hand everyone who JUMPED OUT OF THEIR SKIN when the FAKE BLACK BEAR came onto the screen!!??? 😮Lol holy cannoli I was NOT expecting that! I literally almost threw my phone!😂 ok ok but on a positive note… BEFORE you scared me half to death… I LOVED that you played the old “FOLGERS IN UR CUP” tune! It was sooo nostalgic that I felt myself as a child sitting in the dining room smelling my moms coffee brewing & hearing that tune on the commercials inbetween the morning news segments! I’m 40 so I most definitely remember those commercials and that was a pleasant memory unlocked so THANK YOU😊… but as for the bear scare… lol I’ve also unlocked a new FEAR! 😂 love your videos! I think this one’s a year or so old but as mentioned on another comment of mine, I’m new to ur channel and I’ve been filling my evenings with all ur videos to catch up and I’m always excited for the next one so keep them coming. Stay safe & keep ‘em coming😊

I have a feeling people like you folks already knew (including Chris) LMBO!
beautiful vid
Thank you!
Awesome Chris.
Thanks!
Love the Walton music Chris!
Good Night John Boy! Good stuff.
Cooking tip, you should consider using avocado oil for high heat cooking. Olive oil becomes carcinogenic when heated high.
Chris, I worked for the USDA Dept for 20yr, you don't store raw chk with raw vegetable, it's a case of salmonella contamination going on fyi
all Knoor products are good for backpacking especially when you add a protien. Try marinating your chicken with Italian Salad dressing in a baggy then cooking it on site!
Sounds like a good idea...Knorr cooked easily/ they have a large selection.
Really like safety tips
wow man i never cook anyting like that 14:00 in qthe nature :)) respect
Thanks man! Keep Hiking!
( actually require )

Hey Captain David - Glad you enjoyed it, it's called Royal Mountain Breakdown by the Mini Vandals. Keep Hiking!
Thanks Chris.
Thanks for demonstrating some camping stuff. I would like to know some of this stuff for my own knowlege. I am not planning on camping, but we do lose power in winter, some of these items would be handy to have around the apartment to help with cooking when the power is out for 2 days.
humboldt county? That has a very well know reputation that is interesting to many
Really enjoy your stories ,and hikes and your fun campLooking forward to more of this in2023. Thanks Cris. And Good luck in your new adventures. Take care and be careful when out and about. I believe you about that Bigfoot. Questions about why they attacked some and not others. Note I believe there a species of what was left over from the prehistoric times they had a different name and I was amazed about one story you mentioned about how the Bigfoot save that man’s life so I don’t think they’re all mean very aggressive but I could be wrong always carry your gun there’s 357 mag
Hand gun leave a pretty good size hole when exiting.Note my dad taught me how to use a handgun 22 semi automatic was the easiest for me to handle and He taught me all the safeties and how to handle again and he made sure to put the safety on when you’re not using it be careful out there
Wow that lake is like a mirror
Beautiful Lake / great wilderness area.
A very defensible/escapable location is survivable
Your videos are awesome brother. Look forward to all ur new content. 2 things. Cross contamination is real. And When u back flush your supposed to use clean water not u filtered water. But regardless who am I to tell u a damn thing lol. Keep on hiking man. Its great entertainment.
You are correct! Next vid I'll run it through the right way. Thanks Gabe.
