I am not a doctor. This video contains the thoughts and opinions of a pipe smoker that is currently in excellent physical and mental health. Your personal health situation may require you to refrain from pipe smoking for a wide variety of reasons. Please consult with your doctors openly and often. I hope you enjoy listening! -Kevin
Well I’m not in perfect mental or physical health but the pipe brings me some comfort and peace. The benefits far outweigh whatever health risks. Of which, I have experienced none.
I have been smoking a pipe for less than 6 months. I picked it up because I was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Parkinson's is basically a lack of dopamine. There is, of course, much more to Parkinson's than that. After my diagnosis, I went looking for a natural way to boost my dopamine levels. I discovered that nicotine is one of the best ways to get my dopamine up quickly. One bowl can last 2 or 3 days. Thanks to you, I have had very few problems and many enjoyable bowls. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos.
This is something that few people are addressing! Thank you for bringing this up! Mental health has been a struggle in my family for many years and the #1 reason for many of those disorders are lower-levels of neurotransmitters. Thats the reason the number one treatment for General Anxiety and Depression are SSRIs. They boost Serotonin levels in the brain. there are other anti-depressants that work the same way, they boost other neurotransmitters like Dopamine, Serotonin, etc. The problem with many of these medications is that they can have drastic side effects and I have difficulty tolerating them. Nicotine naturally boosts neurotransmitters. Thats the reason for the old saying "smoking calms the nerves" and has also shown to help people with mental health issues. That doesn't mean I'm advocating for not taking meds and I'm definitely not advocating for smoking cigarettes, which will absolutely kill you. Nicotine, in and of itself is not harmful, its the method of ingestion that tends to be the issue. I'd argue cigarettes and snuff use are two of the most destructive ways to intake nicotine. Thats because of the additives in those products. Cigars, Pipes and if you must inhale, vaping are better alternatives. Hell, you can use nicorette gum if you'd rather and enjoy some of the benefits of nicotine and have nearly 0 risk to your health. Anyway, I'm sorry to hear about your parkinsons diagnosis and hope that the pipe helps it!
That is very interesting to know, glad you are doing well. Have your symptoms (such as hand shaking, slowness of motion) decreased? I know someone who has been diagnosed with Parkinson's.
look into carnivore diet too mate. really helpful with mental issues. not sure if it can reverse parkinsons, but should definitely slow down the progression of it
@pilotingwaves I do notice a definite drop in my overall symptoms after I smoke my pipe. I used to have severe symptoms, specifically having my whole body stiffen up. Being unable to move and barely speak is one of the most frightening things I have ever experienced. Fortunately, I haven't had to experience that since my first time using a pipe.
I’m 43 and am new to pipe smoking. I got in to it because my busy lifestyle is catching up with me. I had to look for a way to slow down and just relax before it got the best of me. I am ready for this new journey of finding time to reflect and enjoy a moment here and there. Thank you for the videos that you put out. They are both very relaxing and informative as well. I look forward to learning more.
Via Seattle Pipe Club: 5) Reducing the risk of tongue burn and/o • A burn or scar from hot smoke is what you are trying to avoid. This can lead to cancer. Don't leave the pipe clenched in your teeth in one position touching your tongue for a long time. Move the pipe around your mouth as you smoke. • Sip your pipe like a fine wine, don't draw heavily. • Find a cool burning tobacco that you enjoy. Aromatic tobaccos tend to burn hotter than do English, • Always drink while you smoke. This helps cool the mouth, quench the thirst from dry smoke, coat the mouth from hot smoke, and wash away any hot debris. Water, sodas, coffee, tea are fine. Don't drink anything yery. hot though; • However, sorry everyone, do not drink alcohol while you smoke. The combination of alcohol and smoke is not just a linear risk, but exponential. This is a huge mistake most smokers make. The alcohol destroys the flora and protective lining of mucus in the mouth. Then the hot smoke will directly come in contact with the unprotected mouth lining. Drink alcohol only after you smoke. • Smoking depletes the body of vitamins A and C. Take up to 3000 mg of VC a day. Also take selenium and other antioxidants that will help buffer your body from free radicals, cancer and anti-aging.
Im no medical expert but it seems to me heat really is the biggest factor when it comes to cancer from smoking a pipe, or at least thats what I hear most often. I figured since I already eat my food, and drink my beverages real hot and often burn myself anyway, pipe smoking cant really be causing me much more harm, idk thats just me though lol
I agree with your comments. One of the biggest killers is stress and a pipe can melt stress away as you puff through a bowl. My Dr commented the same way. I had a very stressful job as a CEO and personally believe it saved me from stress getting out of hand. I smoke a couple of bowls a day, maybe 3 if out fishing. A pipe is friend on a walk and equally sat in a chair watching the world go by. I could never imagine being without a pipe. I’ve smoked a pipe since I was 18, it helped me chill through exams, through my adult working life and now into semi retirement. A pipe is a joy known to few. Nice video. 👍❤️
I find it warming to see so many pipe smokers all alike. Like you, I'm younger coming into my mid 30s now had too much stress which was killing me but a friend gave me a pipe and I started there 3-4 years ago and much like you after a few months my health was way better. I still struggle at times during the year mostly summer, but every year gets easier. What was a surprise to me was we tend to have the same mitigations when smoking. I too only smoke outside in nice weather and often take breaks when needed or over the summer I rarely smoke from June to about September here in GA. I also only smoke about max 2-3 bowls a day and sometimes I don't smoke everyday for me it is also about the relaxation, meditation, reflection, the whole package not just some quick fix. Thanks for sharing, sending you good smoke from GA
I have missed these talks, sitting with a bowl and listening to you as I smoke! Life can get busy and a good smoke can make all the difference. Thank you for all the enjoyment and enrichment that you bring to this community.
Thanks Kevin for a very good summary of the health risks associated with pipe smoking. I am a medical doctor and smoke almost exactly like you. I started around 50 and was never a cigarette smoker
I’ve recently picked up the pipe to slow down all of my other nastier habits I no longer want.. cigarettes, weed, so on. I have found that a bowl in the truck on the way to work, after my lunch on my break (usually the same bowl from the morning) and in the evening after a shower in some comfy clothes is the most stress free I have ever been. My lungs feel better from not being beaten by harsh smoke and it truly gives me time to reflect on the day to come or pass. Truly an amazing thing pipe smoking.
Haven’t smoked a bowl in a couple months, sitting here now with a sparkling water and a bowl of big n burley. While listening in to your video I can feel the rush of time seeming to pause and the stresses of things fade for the moment, it puts me in a realm of stillness, contemplation, a sanctuary in itself it’s like. Truly blessed for the roof over my shoulders, friends and family to cherish, a loving wife, Living is truly a luxury and hobbiton piper, you rock! Keep the good vibes coming, god bless
Great video! I tend to smoke a pipe at night walking around my neighborhood. There’s something nice about the relative stillness at that time. Also, it gives me the chance to hear some of our local owls hooting in the trees, which is one of my favorite sounds! Cheers and happy smokes!
A very thoughtful and well balanced video. Great point about avoiding alcohol while smoking. Recently pipe smoking has been giving me a throat irritation which can take weeks to disappear. Stopping smoking once the bowl gets hot has helped somewhat but I still need to keep working on the other factors, cadence etc. Another commenter mentioned using a church warden to cool the smoke so I think I will check that out. Best advise “you need to listen to your body” . That is true all activities whether is is smoking or jogging 👍
Your personal mouth chemistry may require you to avoid certain burleys and aromatic toppings. I would try smoking something as pure as possible, like a straight virginia blend with no toppings and see if that changes your experience completely.
The music of water dripping in the background was so cool! I enjoyed your wise talk with a bowl of Black Frigate in an MM Legend and I have resumed smoking after a long 3-4 - month hiatus, the summer being so intolerable here in Kolkata,India. I really enjoyed the talk and my pipe too. BTW,yours is a nice pipe! Looking forward to more such enjoyable videos from you. Stay blessed.
Thanks Kevin, been watching your videos since I picked up the pipe hobby less than a year ago. This is my first “smoke with me” where I fetched my 673 and joined you. Appreciate your approach and your ability to express your experience without diving into outside issues or dogma. These days I love the ways we can find common ground around shared experiences. Bravo
Kevin! Thank you for this video. Was having a stressful and frankly grumpy day until I saw this notification pop up. I went outside, packed my pipe (Sav 315 w/ Old Joe Krantz), and sat through the whole video! Now I feel comfortable to finish out the chores and make amends with those I need to make amends with. Thanks for this series! Have a blessed Sunday.
Great way to end the video. I don’t think there’s a better way to describe what pipe smoking represents to so many. I’ve never smoked a cigarette in my life. I do not have the need or desire for nicotine at all. However it is the ritual of relaxation and just the whole experience of smoking what brings me so much joy. I do smoke cigars and I enjoy them too but, at least for me, Pipe smoking is the best option of all of the smoking methods there are. For the fact that it takes time and energy to do it I don’t do it often at all, and that makes it even better and safer under my perception.
You must understand, young Hobbit, it takes a long time to say anything in Old Pipe Speak. And we never say anything unless it is worth taking a long time to say.
Hi! Long-time lurker here. Sgt. Savinelli had it right when he coined the term ‘adult pacification device’ when referring to a pipe. It’s a stress reliever for me too, and I’ve found that taking a break from pipes every once in a while helps me keep things in check if I think I’m going overboard. Great channel, and fantastic content!
30+ years off and on. I smoke maybe 3 or 4 bowls a week these days. For me it is about the contemplative, meditative, relaxation of smoking. When I started at about 20, I would smoke several bowls a day. I learned what I like and what works for me. Thanks for sharing. Stay Gold.
I've been smoking a pipe for just over a year, and while it took me a few months to get a decent grasp on things. This video will surely help many new pipe smokers, and some not new pipe smokers. I still consider myself new, even after a little over a year and it gave me plenty to think about. Lot's of wisdom and insight in this video, Kevin. I appreciate it greatly. It's probably my favorite video I've seen of yours, and there's lots of great videos on your channel. I enjoyed Lane Limited 1-Q, in a Missouri Meerschaum Country Gentleman, with a long blue Forever Stem, while listening along. Take care, Kevin, and God bless. Thank you.
All things in moderation; moderation is for monks! As I sit and listen to your commentaries I often go right to the tranquility of letting your voice seduce me into allowing all my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd world problems waft away with the smoke from my pipe and my fire pit. Thank you.
Kevin, One of the most thoughtful videos I have ever seen on pipe smoking! I am now 6 months into my pipe journey and have learned so much about this wonderful, relaxing hobby. One of the first videos I had ever viewed when learning how to smoke a pipe was your “introducing pipe smoking to a friend” and I must say that the laid back, calm approach resonated with what I was looking for. Thank you for bringing the point home every time! Enjoy your evening, sir!
I usually smoke about once a week, every so often twice. It's always when I'm home and relaxing, usually on Sunday nights. It's not something I do to relax, it's something I do when already relaxed. Otherwise, it kind or ruins the experience for me. I'll go weeks, sometimes months without smoking, too, especially if I'm having a hard time of things. It's always my zen time, my slow time. I like to watch an 80's movie and have a glass of Scotch while I'm doing it, too.
Kevin your content lowers my blood pressure without medication! I'm a new pipe smoker and you just make it so easy to get into the smoking rhythm. Thank you my man 🙏
Great video! I love it! It might not matter to everyone, but I've been smoking the same cigarettes for 30 years, and I've also been smoking a pipe and vaping for the past 10 years. I carry all my smoking gear with me every day and enjoy a cigarette, pipe, or vape whenever I have free time, whether I'm at work or at home. My annual medical check-ups always amaze my doctor. My lungs are clean, and I have no diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol. I haven't been to the hospital in 43 years, and I didn't even get vaccinated during the COVID-19 pandemic. My secrets to a healthy life are simple: smoking and coffee. I don't use drugs or alcohol, I eat whatever I want, I don't follow strict diets, and I do what I enjoy whenever possible. I also drink plenty of mineral water. Instead of going to the gym, I prefer walking, badminton, or swimming. I don't strive for excessive success or fame, and I don't dwell on my accomplishments. I understand that we're all human and have limitations. I focus on doing good and helping others find happiness, mostly I forget mine. Spending time with family and friends is my top priority, even though I'm from a middle-class background and earn less than $300 a month by Western standards. I'm not bragging. I have everything I need, but not everything I want. Survival is important, but we should also enjoy life. Take it easy and don't rush. My prayers and thoughts are with everyone who is having a hard time in life right now. May you find everything you need.
I’ve had this video on my watch list. Decided after work tonight I was going to watch it. Rode home on my motorcycle, rolled it into the garage at 2:30am, poured a dram of scotch and packed a fresh opened tin of Davidoff Danish mixture and headed back to the garage. Then started chuckling that you knocked off three off the things I did nearly simultaneously. I rarely mix spirits and tobacco but going into the weekend I decided it was fare game. What a way to unwind for the week. Thank you.
I smoke my pipe a couple times a day. Helps destress and contemplate things, and we know that stress is no bueno. Recently went a few weeks without though, and was just fine. Glad I gave up cigarettes.
Great video. Stress is more likely to kill me than a pipe! I enjoy my pipe with cold brew coffee or other NA beverage. Sitting out on my deck on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, enjoying Haunted Pirate Ship in my Molina Pisa!
Really enjoy your videos. Been smoking a pipe on and off 20 years. Have found your videos to be very helpful in finding new blends. I smoke an average of 8 bowls a day . For me its the best way to stay relaxed and calm . No major health issues besides the ones that come with getting older
You said the magic words! It is your one life. Be a good moral person who treats people with kindness but otherwise do what you want with it. Government or insurance companies should not have the right to control your life.
Love all your videos. My doctor tried to get on me about pipe smoking. Doctor was so ignorant about tobacco...didn't even realize that pipe, cigarette, and cigars were made from different types of plants. I smoke everyday, all day.
For me, smoking a pipe is very relaxing. I have a 45 min drive to my job. I smoke on the way there. It calms me and relaxes me before the hectic day starts. In fact this week, i picked up a new blend id never had. Rainy day by Ashton. Wonderful smoke in my opinion. Have a great week sir
This is the best pipe smoking video I have ever seen! You covered all important aspects of the hobby that all pipe smokers, regardless of how long they have been smoking a pipe, need to visit and revisit. I want to personally thank you for this very informative video that assures I will continue to enjoy the hobby. Take care .
Kevin I couldn’t agree more! I personally feel that I’m not shortening my life by one day by doing what I think is the most relaxing hobby that there is. In fact I believe it has perhaps added years to my life because I’m not snacking like I use to and have lost a considerable amount of weight since I started smoking last August. On the days I work, which are 12 hr days, I smoke one bowl in the evening. On my off days, I may do 5 or 6. I usually take at least an hour with each bowl. I’m so glad that I found this hobby, and really enjoy your channel. Keep up the good work! Wes
Great video, couldn't have put it better. Greetings to you from Italy, alwasy a pleasure to hear you out! Smoking a nice bowl of Capstan tonight in your honor. Come visit!
What a great conversation! Thank you for putting this out. I could not agree with you more. I don't inhale - ever, I keep a cool smoke, I keep a cool mouth, I get dental exams twice a year - I feel like this hobby has no negative health aspects.
@@PiperDave2023 thank you for the encouragement and support, Dave! Feel free to share this with anyone you think might benefit from the info/thoughts. It’s a wonderful hobby to me as well
Fantastic video, Kevin! I'm thrilled to see this information presented so eloquently. As you know, I've collected a substantial body of literature on health and pipe smoking over the years, and you've covered all the key points that are immediately actionable for anyone in our hobby. At some point, we'll need to address filters-it's an important subject, but also quite complex due to the significant impact they can have on the overall experience. I'd also add, as we've both observed over the years, that the more natural the blend, the better it seems to be from a health perspective...but these topics are best left for detailed treatment in another video.
Thank you Kevin! I always look forward to your videos. You always have solid intriguing content. I'm in my 5th month of smoking a pipe and I've certainly been struck with that fervor of trying many different blends and buying many different pipes! It's been lots of fun, but also expensive, so I'm starting to slow down a bit. Right now, I probably average 1 bowl a day. Somedays I smoke 2 and some days I smoke none. I'm much like you. I love the routine and relaxation, but I want to maintain control of it, so I've establish certain boundaries that I will not cross. Personally, I've found that makes it even more enjoyable. Thanks for making videos that are enjoyable to watch while smoking. Your personality is so inviting and your humility refreshing. Keep it up - your the best!
I got to a point where I just smoke my pipe in peace and leave people say what they will. Those that take pride in smoking cigarettes will say I'm not a smoker, those that hate smoking cigarettes but are addicted to them call me a smoker and that my lungs will be ruined even if I smoke the pipe for 3-4 times/week and don't inhale, but oh well. Either way, thank you for another great video and the good discussion!
@@mr.mister9607 proper research helps lead to proper decisions for your life, your choices. Unfortunately many people are either misinformed or just simply do not understand subjects that they speak strongly about.
I never comment, but am breaking my silence to say how interesting and helpful I found this video. I began smoking pipes a few years ago and have wrestled with this issue especially as I have found the relaxation from pipe smoking to be so beneficial. So thanks for this discussion. Also, didn’t know about the alcohol effect - so, I will definitely be enjoying a whiskey after and not during future sessions.
Love these Smoke with Me videos! I'm smoking Haunted Bookshop in my Peterson Emerald series pipe while watching the video. I need to get a Savinelli at some point. Keep up the great work!
This is a great review that I came across. Love it and subscribed to your channel. I have been a pipe smoker since 1980 and you’re spot on. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the video. Everyone who has gone through a cigarette smoking period in their life knows how much different and how much addictive it is comparing to pipe smoking. I think that 90 minutes dedication of time is a great aspect of pipe smoking. Also I really liked the sound of water in the background.
Well I wasn’t able to join you with a bowl but I sat through the whole video while waiting for customers at work (I work at a coffee stand that varies in business). Thanks for a relaxing video my friend!!😊
Gosh darn it, I'm not smoking with you right now, but I sure wish I were. Maybe a little later I can finally light up. For now cheers. Health and long life to you!
You’re an eloquent speaker and it’s relaxing to hear your thoughts on pipe related things. I have a TH-cam cooking channel so them grilled steaks and squash got my attention and definitely looked tasty. Thanks for your channel and making pipe stuff fun and cool to hear about👍
Great video and so true. My grandma who lived to be a month away from 100, once told me…you can do anything, so long as you do it in moderation. I try to always remember that.
I’ll have 82 in two months and smoke a pipe since I was 18, about 5 to 6 bowls a day. It never caused me any health problems. I never inhaled and my lungs are apparently clean. I am not a doctor either but taking some precautions, being moderate is the best medicine and you can enjoy pipe smoking without that fear of everything pleasurable that kills more than you can imagine.
Hey Kevin, I filled a bowl with the last of a four year old tin of Cairo for this. I heard it's best to smoke after two years of aging and it is pretty good. I find that most often I smoke one bowl a day and I may start in the morning, let it go out and not finish until after dinner. If I happen to load a second bowl in the evening, I may not finish it until the next morning with a cup of coffee. Some really good advice and content as always. Man those steaks look lovely. Que the happy music.
When I started pipe smoking I looked deeply into the health risks. What I've found is that according to studies made (there are only a few on pipes/cigars), pipes have the least amount of risk. You have mainly risk of oral cancer. But it all depends how much you smoke and how you smoke (as you said in the video). Based on that and the risks I am willing to take I took on myself these rules: - smoke max 2 times a week, preferably less - smoke only what you REALLY like taste wise - smoke only which doesn't give you tongue bite - mitigate risk by smoking outside, with a filter and with a drink (no alcohol) The way I see it, you trade some health and life for smoking and therefore it should be worth it. If I don't like a blend taste wise or it gives me a tongue bite I automatically discard it away.
Another wonderful and relaxing smoke with me. I enjoyed some Dunhill My Mixture 965 in a no name pipe and just relaxed. Also, thanks for tipping me off to the zippo insert you use. Bought one a couple weeks ago and it's been a great addition to my pipe smoking experience. Love this video and agree with everything you said. I've found that pipe and cigar smoking has brought more benefits to my life and nothing negative. I'm a mechanical engineer and a dad to a young family (3 kids 5 and under)... the relaxing aspects and stress relief for me has been unmatched. My wife can tell if I've smoked a bowl just by the shift in my mindset or attitude, just due to how stress relieving it is. Thanks again for the wonderful content, I truly enjoy smoking with you, even if it's just a screen across from me!
Wonderfull video Kevin, been a pipe smoker only for 40+ years with some extended periods,{years} of of no pipes because of life issues, but have recently retired a 1.5 years ago, and have the time to truly enjoy a pipe again. I have always been a causul piper and smoker like yourself when I can dedicate an hour or more to relaxing. Now I ussually try to have a bowl in the peaceful quiet early morning time, and about 50% of the time I will have a second one in the evening while enjoying the sunset. I smoke out side also and that has its challanges to but I'm working on a "Pipe Shed" to enjoy all four seasons. And there are days when I have none also. But just as you the joy and peace and the quiet time with my Lord has been the most significant blessings enjoying a pipe has brought to my life. My doctor said your BP is the lowest he has ever seen, he knows I enjoy a pipe and says keep doing what your doing it working. I truly ENJOYED this video Kevin it was one of your best, Thank you Very Much, and God Bless You.
Hey Kevin, I have been a pipe smoker since 2009 and I'm like you I listen to my body and won't smoke my pipe if I'm not feeling well or don't have the time. I enjoyed this video. Eventually i'll start listening to the rst if this series. Thanks for doing this. Cheers
glad to hear your input. i personally smoke 2-3 bowls in a day max as well and usually only about 3-4 days a week, much like you said, just when i want to and feel like it. it's not about nicotine as ive never smoked cigarettes or been drawn to that. i just enjoy the experience of smoking pipe. after a hard day or week at work i find it relaxes me and i give thanks to The Lord who created it
I've just discovered you today with this video, and I signed up right away. Love your calm, the way you talk, the way you love the pipe. Cheers from Italy 😉
Kevin, so good to be enjoying a bowl with you. Tonight I'm smoking my Baricini apple 1/4 bent with some Savinelli Molto Dolce. BTW, if you haven't tried Molto Dolce, it truly is a sweet change of pace, kind of desert in a bowl, lol. Just a wonderful calm joyous hour with an online friend. Thanks a million, Al
First time watcher… and now a subscriber! Been a fellow pipe smoker for several years. Love the series and the information. Thanks for sharing your personal perspectives… 😊👍
I asked both a traditional MD as well as my naturopathic dr. MD said dont do any tobacco ever. ND said in moderation, premium non inhaled tobacco is fine when not mixed with liquor. Especially of its a stress reliever, and that stress will kill you faster than pipe/cigar smoking. Just my experience when talking with both.
It's a mindfulness practice for me. We all need to find ways to slow down and appreciate the life God has given us. The pipe is just one of many ways to do this.
Thank you for the excellent content Kevin. You are awesome! I love the “smoke with me series”. I’m enjoying some Escudo in my new KayWoodie Red Root billiard I bought from the Ohio pipe show yesterday.
Another great video...Thanks for this series and thank you for the specific content on this one. You have a gift of communicating and you are successful in sharing the joy and passion you have for this hobby. Stay well my friend. Jamie
Thank you for the brilliant video, Kevin. You definitely bring more joys to the expeience of tobacco tasting. I have just finished a bowl of OGS with black tea, by the way. As an Iranian, I have a kind of sentimental attatchment to pairing black tea with virgina. The taste takes me back to my childhood, when my grandpa would allow me to have a puff of his hookah with my tea. Something nostalgic really. I love single malt, but never pair the two. I keep them seperate just to double the occasions I celebrate life.

Wow, I’m so glad your health is improving!
I know someone who has been diagnosed with Parkinson's.

not sure if it can reverse parkinsons, but should definitely slow down the progression of it
@pilotingwaves I do notice a definite drop in my overall symptoms after I smoke my pipe. I used to have severe symptoms, specifically having my whole body stiffen up. Being unable to move and barely speak is one of the most frightening things I have ever experienced. Fortunately, I haven't had to experience that since my first time using a pipe.

Thanks for sharing,
sending you good smoke from GA

Thanks Kevin for a very good summary of the health risks associated with pipe smoking. I am a medical doctor and smoke almost exactly like you. I started around 50 and was never a cigarette smoker
It’s so great to get this comment from a medical doctor. Thank you!!

Great video! I tend to smoke a pipe at night walking around my neighborhood. There’s something nice about the relative stillness at that time. Also, it gives me the chance to hear some of our local owls hooting in the trees, which is one of my favorite sounds! Cheers and happy smokes!
@@justanotherpipesmoker8240 now that sounds awesome!

It’s such a relaxing, ritualistic practice isn’t it :)

I wish you continued good health and happiness!

Excellent, I’m on board, we will get this done soon!

When I started pipe smoking I looked deeply into the health risks. What I've found is that according to studies made (there are only a few on pipes/cigars), pipes have the least amount of risk. You have mainly risk of oral cancer. But it all depends how much you smoke and how you smoke (as you said in the video). Based on that and the risks I am willing to take I took on myself these rules:
- smoke max 2 times a week, preferably less
- smoke only what you REALLY like taste wise
- smoke only which doesn't give you tongue bite
- mitigate risk by smoking outside, with a filter and with a drink (no alcohol)
The way I see it, you trade some health and life for smoking and therefore it should be worth it. If I don't like a blend taste wise or it gives me a tongue bite I automatically discard it away.
It sounds like you have a good, thoughtful plan for yourself! Be sure to get those oral screenings done on occasion as well
And thank you for charing your pipe and thoughts with us.
