I know Tatra mountains like my own pocket. They are not so high but there is such an atmosphere that I could not forget. This music by Kilar is so hypnotic like those mountains. I know that Kilar is so familiar with Tatras, his kind of inspiration. I wish I could meet him there some time!
I remember reading a rare interview with Wojciech Kilar where he discussed the opportunity given to him on writing music for LOTR, he said with his own words: "It would have killed me!". It's understandable since Kilar was already very old and frail at that time.
I recall Coppola originally wanted Lutoslawski for Dracula but ended up with Kilar. Thankfully because Kilar imbued it with both horror and tragedy. His Love Theme was and is haunting.
