The guy’s eyes opened wide and said it was his cousin. I wasn’t sure if he was joking but as the conversation progressed I saw it was true. I asked why he left the band. I can’t remember if he got fired or quit but I remember him saying that Mick was a control freak.
Any band that wants success needs that one member who goes above and beyond. Call them control freaks or whatever. Mick Jones, Noel Gallagher, Tom Scholz, Kurt Cobain, etc. These guys write the big hits that elevate everyone’s pay in the band. And existence. Music is a f*cker of a business and to make it there better be an alpha present….or else.

I saw Foreigner open for the Stones in the late 70s early 80s. I think Peter Tosh was on the bill as well. People were booing Foreigner because they were so desperate to hear The Rolling Stones. Foreigner sounded great, but the entire crowd really didn't care.
