      In terms of loving, I'm really excited for IF, Lisa Frankenstein, and ARGYYLE. Those look right up my alley. And in terms of music, I'm really excited for Djesse Vol. 4 by Jacob Collier, All Is Yellow by Lyrical Lemonade, Don't Take It Personal by Dizzee Rascal, and Lil Nas X's sophomore album.
      As for hate, the only thing I really have that I look forward to hating is Madame Web. That movie is going to be an absolute trainwreck.

    1) been watching for about 8-10 months, love the content

    I've already seen like 50 movies about the bad Germans so I'm pretty much cool to never see one again. Unless it's strictly a combat war type movie like Saving Private Ryan or Dunkirk. And I will always make an exception for Tarantino movies, though I kind of doubt he'll go back to that setting now.

    I wouldn't get my hopes up for watching Spider-verse 3 soon. The VA for Peter B. hasn't even recorded his lines and if I recall correctly when the animator controversies rose up surrounding the second film, it was mentioned that they hadn't even started anything major on part 3 yet. That was just last year. Don't be surprised if we don't see part three until another three to five years down the line.

    Argylle and Guy Ritchie Inglorious Basterds has me so excited! Guy Ritchie kills it consistently (I haven't seen his full filmography, but I haven't seen a bad movie from him either. And his King Arthur movie was awesome. I'll die on that hill). And while Marv has a pretty spotty track record, if Argylle gets it right like the first Kingsman, it's gonna be a blast
    Ballerina looks cool too. Hopefully they're able to do something a little different and subvert the slowly growing John Wick fatigue.

    Man, pre-Covid especially, it used to feel like there was ALWAYS a decent moving coming out, or a few movies coming to streaming that you maybe didn't want to see in the theatre, but were curious to watch when it came to Netflix. BUT OH MY, that has slowed down to a very small trickle! The past few years, it's felt like there's been maybe *one* movie a year that I want to see in theatres and there never seems to be anything on streaming that I'm like 'oh yeah, I missed this one, I want to watch it!'. The last movie I watched in the theatres was Guardians of the Galaxy 3, which came out in MAY! Has Hollywood truly lost their way this badly? And looking forward, the only movie off the top of my head that I want to see would be Deadpool 3. haven't enjoyed a Star Wars movie since Force Awakens (still had hope back then), a Indy movie since Last Crusade, a Marvel Movie since GOTG3, a Disney movie since Encanto (which I watched on D+). It's just SUPER slim pickins. You mentioned a few movies that were intriguing, so I hope to catch those when they come out. But man, I just don't trust Hollywood anymore.

    But Spider-verse has me excited. And FFVII Rebirth (though I don't have a PS5), and Hades 2 (though I haven't played the first one yet). Hoping for some One Piece news, mainly a cast announcement for my favorite character. And I'm waiting for the Netflix Avatar with... Something. I honestly don't know what I'm expecting from that.

      @gregowen2022  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      After seeing the promo pictures for Avatar and seeing how they handled One Piece, I’m more optimistic than before. I can’t recommend Hades highly enough. The combo or rogue-like elements with the permanent passive upgrades of an RPG is excellent. I want to be excited about Rebirth, but I just wasn’t in love with the first part of the remake. Maybe it’ll be better now that we are out of midgar and perhaps they’ve tweaked the combat a little. Who am I kidding, it’s final fantasy and I’m going to buy it because that franchise has been with me since I was 8. I still have my NES cartridge for the first one.

    Greg, you strike me as someone who would like the grimdarkness of the 41st millennium, specifically the stories about the Imperial Guard; the regular men and women in the Imperium who are just doing their best to survive. If you want a good starting place there, Gaunt's Ghosts or the Commissar Cain books. I can't recommend them enough if that's a direction you feel like going down. Of the two, starting with Gaunt's Ghosts is probably your best bet if you have no idea what's going on, but if you have a vague idea, grab the Cain books. They're just good fun.
    The said, after you said it, you enjoying FromSoft's games makes total sense. Personally, I'm intrigued as to what about the games you enjoy most, because so far everyone I've talked to has had different reasons. The person who got me into that space liked the challenge. I like the lore and the fact we have to piece it all together without being told expressly what it is, kinda like a series of mystery short stories that all tie into one bigger mystery. Others are taken in by the worldbuilding, and how bleak everything is but there is still hope. I'm curious where you fall in all of that.

Like... why do those people not understand that interviews are supposed to focus on the best part of the show. highlight whats interesting in it. If you tell me "im queer" or "im a women" you automatically say that the show has nothing interesting to offer outside of that. If i want to see queer people or women i can call my friends to get a drink in a bar. at least then something interesting might happen due to it

    Hey Greg reformed Christian here and not sure what your beliefs are on Christ/Christianity would you mind sharing or is that something you don't want to use your channel for??? I just heard the line of theological elbows and that sparked my interest in what you believe and the book actually. I just purchased "Hard Sayings - Understanding Difficult Passages of Scripture" by RC Sproul pretty excited to read it.

    • @gregowen2022
      @gregowen2022  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can’t speak on it too much, TH-cam tends to create a definition of a channel and if you try to deviate, it gets confused and you just end up dying, digitally. But I do love the research, especially from Sproul. His lectures are wonderful, and I have a couple of his books, ‘Defending Your Faith’ and ‘Everyone is a Theologian’. Both are excellent. I call myself more of an Arminian, but I accept that the subject of predestination can cut both ways. On the one hand, some of Paul’s writing, especially in Romans, feels pretty straightforward for Calvinist thought. And the argument “is God God or not?” is very compelling, as is the argument that even when God isn’t “doing” a thing, he is in a sense doing it by allowing it, as in the case of God “standing against” David and allowing him to be tempted to take a census. However, on the other hand, scripture often presents the paths of our lives as a choice, usually in the form of “IF you do X, then you will receive X”. This would suggest an allowance for us to decide. The argument that I find most compelling is the idea of love being voluntary by definition. If we are in the image of God and He chooses to love us, then in order for us to love Him, we must also choose. If he is literally irresistible, then I don’t think it can be considered love. Finally, I find the Arminian view to lend itself more to a daily worker attitude. It’s not a guarantee, but if we feel that we must choose God daily, I think it tends to have a different psychological impact on how we view our everyday actions and the importance they have in the world. Other portions of reformed theology I think are 100% correct, such as sola scriptura.

    • @graham5990
      @graham5990 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@gregowen2022 That is outstanding that you read into these things. I tend to lean more towards the complete sovereignty of God, but with the whole Calvin/Arminius theology I don't like to say either one as it tends to start a conversation off on a bad foot a lot of the times. People hear Calvinist or Arminian and you just seem to start off on the wrong foot. In some of the Christian YT channels I frequent I understand why people think negatively about Christianity reading through some of the comments in comments sections. For people who are supposed to be brothers there sure is a lot of anger and vitriol between the two. As long as you get Christ and the Gospel correct I feel you are on the right path and differences in theology are ok. For example I adore Voddie Baucham, but heavily disagree with his views on eschatology as he is on the a-millennial side of things where I'm in the pre-millennial camp. MacArthur and Sproul were the dearest of friends and disagreed with certain parts of theology as well.
      There certainly are verses that at face value seem to be Arminian, but in the context in which its written I feel can be explained (people tend to forget how important context is when reading scripture). It is very easy to take verses and twist them to fit an agenda when taken at face value, but it's like my Pastor taught me "When reading a verse always read the entire chapter to grasp the context in which the writer is writing. I look at verses like Ephesians 2 1-9 which states.................
      As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh[a] and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. 4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions-it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
      I don't think scripture can be anymore crystal clear that salvation has absolutely nothing to do with works because if you could earn your way to Heaven then as Paul wrote in Galatians 2:21 I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing. Also in that section of Ephesians it states how we are dead in our trespasses and sins (spiritually of course) and it takes God to "make us alive with Christ" so I take that as salvation being a work of God in the heart of man and to further expound on the matter I would go to John 6:44 which states "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them" so we see here the most important word in that verse is CAN which we know is a word of ability. He didn't say no one may Jesus quite literally is saying you CANNOT or you don't have the ability to come to me unless the Father first quickens our dead spirits to life and grants that ability to do so in us.
      I also look to verses like 2 Timothy 2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth. Seeing again it is God who grants this ability to us. Or when Jesus says to his disciples "You did not choose me, but I chose you." and many others I could list, but if you would like to further discuss the matter let me know and we can find a way to exchange email's or something Greg. Either way I love the fact that you read theology and I would highly recommend Martin Luther's "The Bondage of the Will" or Jonathan Edwards "The Freedom of the Will" if you haven't already both great and informative reads. Once I'm done with this RC book I'm moving to a book RC recommends as he studied a lot of Philosophy a book called "The Critique of Pure Reason."

    Looking forward to
    Deadpool 3: Yes I know Disney might mess it up because Disney but Ryan is passionate about the character so hoping at least once more can pull through.
    Happy at least someone doing something nice with Henry Cavill, wanting to watch Argylle just for him.
    I do hope Hit Monkey comes out this year because season 1 was so good hoping they continue that hype. Not much good animated series have come out of Marvel as of late so fingers crossed.
    Not sure how I feel about Avatar The Last Air Bender coming out, on one hand Netflix always iffy especially since creators left the project due to creative differences.
    Looking forward to Justice League crisis on infinite earths part 2 and not sure if part 3 will come out this year. Part 1 felt really confusing at times but was a good movie that I hope the other two parts can keep going.
    Haven't checked out Invincible season 2 yet as waiting for whole season to drop to just binge it, liked season 1 so season 2 should be good.
    The Boys is coming out, just want to watch that, not really interesting in their spinoff gen v.
    Tekken 8: Looks amazing and do hope it if it adds in other fighters because they will don't run into a Yor Forger problem like Street Fighter 6 because compare how she otherwise looks to how she looks in game and look how they massacre a beautiful mother.
    No matter what happens will be happy if people wake up and let Disney burn for its awful live action remakes.
    Probably last thing, western wise, well at least western related, looking forward to is Suicide Squad Isekai. One of the character designers, Akira Amano created my favourite anime (Reborn also is my pfp) so at least know even if it might be a mess will be a good looking mess.
    I know i will be annoyed at the new HeMan show by Kevin "the Hack" Smith, not because I'm interested in Heman but know it has a strong fanbase that just wants something good and something good is not coming.
    Other than this cautiously awaiting to see what mess this year brings, hopefully some other good works happen this year, and hoping you have a good year as well.
