I genuinely think the Germans would be open to appointing and English manager if they‘d be in the same situation as England now. They almost appointed Van Gaal last time around.
To be fair, there are plenty of far better German managers than there are English. Flick, Nagelsmann, Tuchel, Klopp, Schmidt and Hoeness are all better than every English manager. As a foreigner I have to say though, Nigel is incredibly charismatic as a speaker. He is very dangerous when he's fighting for something that makes even a little bit of sense. That's part of how Brexit happened, he was able to drum up support on a legitimate issue without getting bogged down in the specifics of it. If it had to be a clear comparison of the issue and the consequences of course they would have lost, but with someone like that you dont have to talk about those boring but important parts. Especially when Brussels gave him a lot of ammunition to work with. TBH he's who I wish Trump was. I dont agree with either of them at all but when it comes to populist rhetoric if I had to choose one of them, its Nigel. Also I believe he doesnt openly Crime quite as hard.
I think I speak for 95% of England fans when I say I don't care about the ethnicity of the players, or the nationality of the manager. Money aside, coaching an international team like England, Italy, Netherlands etc, is usually a pinnacle of a manager's career. Tuchel was unemployed anyway, so even though he will get less than he did at Bayern, £5million is still a bit better THAN £ZERO. So no, a step up not down...
@@jimbob-robob No its a step down for sure tuchel has been more succesful then the england national team. He's the prize in this sitation. England clearly needs him.
To be England manager they should make applicants answer questions from the UK citizenship test. Nice easy questions like,"How long can you use a driving licence from another country to drive in the UK?" or "King Edward I of England annexed Wales to the crown of England by which statute?" You are not English if you can't answer these.
12 months for the drivers licence, and the Statue of Rhodllan in 1280-something?? I didn't want to Google but I think that's more or less right. And I actually sat the Life in the UK test as an immigrant about 15 years ago.
Things you should notice: 1.Only 3 out of 20 current Premier League managers were an English. 2.The last time an English manager had won the trophies was Harry Redknapp in 2008 with Portsmouth (FA Cup). 3.The last time an English manager had won the league happened just before the inaugural season of the Premier League, which was Howard Wilkinson with Leeds United in 1992. 4.The last time an English manager had won the European Cup/Champions League was Joe Fagan with Liverpool in 1984, although Bobby Robson being the last one if we counted all European club competitions (he led Barcelona to the 1997 Cup Winners Cup triumph). 5.Even worse, there are only 2 Premier League clubs whose owners/majority shareholders being English. 6.No foreign coach has ever managed to win the World Cup. This is another big problem. George Raynor in Sweden 1958 and Ernst Happel in 1978 were the only 2 foreigners that had almost won the World Cup. The women's side also followed this script. Last year, England did lose the World Cup Final to Spain with their foreign coach from the Netherlands (Sarina Wiegman).
There was also a lot of the 'far left' that claimed France's World Cup win in 2018 was also an African World Cup victory. So it doesn't just start and end with the 'far right'.
Only THREE English managers in the EPL!? THAT is a disgrace! Don't mind Tuchel but it's obviously a symptom of a greater English soccer malaise with so much foreign talent preferred in the leagues...

Alfie's covered something like that in a video before - England fans think they have rivalries with all sorts of teams, while our "rivals" have other teams as their rivals.
Personally, i think no national team should have a foreign manager. You're not allowed to use foreign players so why can you use a foreign manager? If english managers suck then that's what we have to deal with until we can get better coaches

To be fair our politics and history make us basically the least popular country in Europe anyway. But yeah it is so funny to me too we have this one-sided rivalry. I heard German fans consider the Netherlands more of a rival right? Most actual people were happy about Tuchel's appointment. Just the gutter press decided to embolden the worst "fans". Which would explain a lot about the perception of England fans too.
As an American think about it this way. I do not care if the manager of my national team is foreign or not because we do not create great managers or players for that matter. Our best player is Christian Pulisic. He’s by no means bad he’s good but he’s no Jude Bellingham. If you do not create great managers do not expect your country’s football association to select a manager of that country. I get that you guys made football. We made basketball, but if we didn’t create great coaches then I wouldn’t have a problem with selecting a foreigner to coach our national team.

@@maximusg88Which English manager? There are no good ones
To be fair, there are plenty of far better German managers than there are English. Flick, Nagelsmann, Tuchel, Klopp, Schmidt and Hoeness are all better than every English manager. Maybe Howe is better than a couple there but there's no reason Germany would appoint an Englishman for that reason alone

Apparently Scottish, Irish and fans from all countries other than England were disappointed England didn't appoint an English manager
The last time English managers won something:
Last time an English manager to win the Premier league/First division: 1992
Last time an English manager to win Champions League/Europacup 1: 1984
Last time an English manager to win: FA cup: 2008
Last time an English manager to win: League cup: 2004
Last time an English National Team manager to win World cup: 1966
No English manager has evere won the Euro's...
To add to that list for anyone still in doubt about the quality of English managers... One of the most recent managers to win on that list was Steve McClaren, whom England have already appointed (to disastrous effect 😅)
Let's not forget that football purist Harry Redknapp managed the national team of my beloved Jordan

If anything, having a foreign coach is less against the spirit of international football than having foreign ringers in your starting XI like Italy and Spain do.
RE: The Beatles and Beetles
As a 9 year old, during an end of term quiz at school, we were once asked "name the four Beatles". As a child, I was woefully lacking in musical knowledge and proceeded (along with two friends who I was teamed up with) to list 4 beetles - dung beetle, stag beetle etc. It got a chuckle out of the teacher (who was a massive Beatles fan).

I just want the best players on the pitch, and the best manager available in charge of them. The press and so called pundits have shown how far out of touch they are. I just want us to win something. Tuchel seems like a smart choice to me, I'm excited to see what he can come up with.
yea, I would say most people really don't care. Just some of the old nationalist gammon and the daily mail speaking their immature attention seeking nonsense.
So less than 5% of the British voted for Brexit?!
You can stop pretending England does not have a long and disturbing racist history that continues to plague the nation to this day! The ignorance is astounding!

To be England manager they should make applicants answer questions from the UK citizenship test. Nice easy questions like,"How long can you use a driving licence from another country to drive in the UK?" or "King Edward I of England annexed Wales to the crown of England by which statute?" You are not English if you can't answer these.

Your clarification about 'literal beetle' had me laughing heartily. Great work.
Things you should notice:
1.Only 3 out of 20 current Premier League managers were an English.

The hilarity of ‘ethnic-nationalism’ is it’s so arbitrary. At what point does someone ‘become native’?
Any given person’s ancestors emigrated to Britain at some time or another, as humans are not, in fact, native to this region of the world.
Also amazing how white British people get to call themselves whatever (Australian, American, South African, Expat).

Alfie's covered something like that in a video before - England fans think they have rivalries with all sorts of teams, while our "rivals" have other teams as their rivals.

Wasn’t/Isn’t Farage married to a German? Also, Lee Carlsey played for Ireland, so whilst he wasn’t born in Ireland he did play for a foreign team and thus is technically a foreign manager (in football terms). If Tuchel does (by some incredible miracle) manage to get England to play in an even slightly interesting way and like they hadn’t all just met each other that afternoon then he’ll be lauded. Bro it's so weird to me as a German that there's still a large number of English people that view Germany as their number 1 enemy of the state. Like, nobody here cares about England.
People should be happy a manager as good as Tuchel chose to coach a national team whose fans have made it the least popular team in Europe.
